I thought I would give Proactiv a go…

I thought I would give Proactiv a go following a recommendation from a friend. I signed up online and received the first month. As I was trying to use up old Liz Earle product I called to cancel any future subscription and was at this point advised that I could delay by a month and in doing so receive a discounted rate. I agreed but made it very clear that I only wanted to sign up for another month since at this point I still hadn't tried the Proactiv product.

A month later a 3 month supply turned up - much to my dismay - at £24.99 per month. Since that is what I had paid for the first month I called to complain that I had not received the discount and was very rudely told that it should have been £29.99 per month so I had in fact received the discount.

The call handler also very abruptly told me that it's very clear when signing up that I would be moving onto a 3 month subscription plan. I am just regaining my voice following a cold and couldn't be bothered to argue but want to make others aware that it's hard to get out of once you've agreed to the trial month - you have to ring, not email or write, and they will offer you a small discount to get you sucked in for an additional 3 months. Beware!

Scammers - DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM!!

SCAMMERS!

They had a product on offer - 40% off so I paid for the item as you would normally do.

The following month I receive another package through the post which I obviously didn't order, after speaking to a job's worth at customers service they said I had signed up to monthly subscription at £29.99 a month for 3 months. They just took my money, no email, nothing apart from receiving the extra package through the post.

I am certainly not stupid, I buy tons of items online every day and nowhere can I find a subscription service check box or writing at all. Absolute scam! They have refused to pay the returns cost which is disgraceful and god knows how many weeks it's going to take for me to get my money back. Jokers.

I'm contacting trading standards today as this is not right or fair. I advise anyone else who've had similar to this happen to them to contact trading standards too. The more cases, the more chance we have of them investigating them. Disgusting behaviour from a large organisation.

Fraudsters

Ordered this summer with new email address and home address. Paid off my 3 month installments and sent them email with my information, to cancel future orders. Didn't get reply and 2 weeks later got charged another installment with extra postage fee. Contacted them, to remind, that I've cancelled and they started making up stories about them cancelling an account for other address (that I've cancelled last year, and used different email address for). They said, that it got cancelled this March, which is completely made up date, because I didn't order until summer. And completely ignoring the fact, that my cancellation email had THIS ADDRESS AND EMAIL. Claiming, that I didn't cancel latest account, just old one... Now I have box of product I don't need and they don't want to provide postage label to send it back. I will be contacting my banks' fraud department about that and will prove, that I've cancelled it in time.

Payment taken after cancelling and confirming none would be taken.

Just to let you know..this is a recent email I have contacted Pro-activ with just so you know the hassles you may have to deal with with this company as I think people deserve to know.

I am writing as I am a very disgruntled customer.

Back on 12th June 2018 I tried to order the Pro-activ set with the charcoal brush and after waiting around two weeks I was told it wasn’t going to come because my card hadn’t been processed properly and to do it again.

Then a couple of weeks later on 27th June 2018 I tried ordering again even though I wasn’t happy the charcoal brush was no longer available but the same happened again no order arrived.

Then all of sudden a couple of weeks ago (3 months after trying the original orders) I receive the charcoal brush set at my home so I immediately contacted you to say that it was no longer needed as I got my face care regime elsewhere. I then asked for a return code and returned the product to you as the payment hadn’t even been taken but you had sent me the product.

I also asked for any orders on my account to be cancelled as I didn’t require any monthly subscriptions and wouldn’t want the product going forward, I was told over the phone that all orders under my name would be cancelled and NO PAYMENTS would be taken from my account.

Today I have had £14.99 come out of my bank account for absolutely no reason as I haven’t received any products and kept them so can you please organise a refund ASAP and remove my account, any pre-existing orders and cancel everything under my name on your services please as if this happens again I will absolutely fuming.

Be careful

Be careful. The 30-day set is really small and then they automatically use your details to sign you up to an expensive membership, with no easy way to cancel it. You either have to email and wait for a response or spend atleast 10 minutes on hold trying to get through when you call. Also they make you jump through hoops to get your return postage back.

Beware!!

After suffering skin breakouts and seeing numerous adverts, I thought I'd try Proactiv. Who doesn't want to be jumping around in a room full of balloons in their best party frock a la Jorgie Porter with fabulous skin like in the advert? So I ordered my 30 day supply. Having used the product for the past month, it's not helped my skin (no balloons for me), no big deal I thought, I won't be buying again.
Hence, I was a little surprised yesterday to see the jolly Hermes lady walking up my path with a big box of Proactiv. Hmmm, I didn't order this, they must have made a mistake. Wondering if I'd been an idiot and ordered a 90 day supply instead of 30, I logged into my account, nope definitely states a 30 day supply.
Feeling miffed that I now have products I did not order and an invoice stating they have taken almost £30 from my bank account and shall continue to do so for the next 2 months, I rang their customer service line. But alas, customer services inform me I am now part of the 'membership subscription' club (so exclusive it seems, you won't know anything about it until the package arrives and they don't send you a dispatch notification allowing you to call them and query it).
Having obtained an RAN number I have now returned their package (the cost of which I had to cover) and will have to wait for my refund. I have also emailed them for written confirmation that my subscription has been cancelled, I shall not receive any further products, no further payments shall be taken and I'll receive a refund (still awaiting a response on the payment one). Now I'll have to keep checking my bank account to make sure no other payments are taken, my bank have told me they can cancel my card but I'll have to wait a week for a new one.
My advice is, it really isn't worth the aggro!!

Do not order from here!

I ordered the 90 day kit and pay monthly all be fine but Im concerned I cannot cancel my card on my account so they still hold my card details since reading reviews here I have cancelled though after I pay my last month now so hoping they dont charge me again I didnt realize it'd send out another kit again after but I talked on the phone that I want nothing to do with it again. It has completely ruined my skin I only wanted to clear my jawline but used the products all over my face to improve texture, pores etc and Im now covered in large painful cystic acne. Im too late for a refund and I feel robbed of over £56. My pores have also all opened its a joke a product could do this to you so bad. I hope they dont take my money again next month like others suggest. I find it disgusting theyve pinched my card details and no where to cancel on account anyway. Didnt specify this anywhere when I bought it and they didnt tell me about the kit reordering again after paying for this, no thanks! Stay away from this company they steal your card details with no way to cancel like others have said. They also wont put up my bad review on their official page, notice that only a small handful of good reviews are on there.

bought 18 year old daughter this for what I thought was 1 month to try for her acne we were away when other large box arrived phoned customer serviCE to cancel the £89 HAD VERY LITTLE JOY THERE WAS EVEN TOLD that I had committed fraud by saying that account holder was my daughter which is her name on invoice and my name on card don't still know what this guy was talking about was left very upset and angry will have to post back at cost of about £11 will never buy stuff again have contacted bank also I feel this company does not make wording to customers not putting it clearly what you will entually pay for however it does say that you can send back bottles back empty and still get refund but not so clear on recurring subscription

I've had Proactiv before and it really helped my cystic acne. Tried it out again but I was ignorant about their subscription. Love the product but Hate how they charge you so much. Tried to cancel but they kept charging me, couldn't do anything about it. Wish I could buy some of their products and be done with it. No strings attached. Buying from another company would be more beneficial.

They know it’s a scam as when u try to cancel the hidden subscription they know exactly where in the t and c’s to tell you to read.
I’ve cancelled any further payments directly with my bank so they can’t take any more money. Guess what. They tried and are now chasing me for money !!!!
They can take me to court but I am not paying them a penny on my own accord.

Rang the helpline and spoke to a very rude man. I now have to return the unwanted and unasked for products at my own cost in order to cancel the subscription!

Simple I've ordered 30 days worth of treatment and they charged me for 3 months and made me an invoice just for 1 month making me thing that that's all I paid.

They are ripping people off forcing them to spend more money but doing it in a clever way which is through their T&Cs which lets be honest who reads 10 pages of T&C. Also if they say are charging for 3 month the final invoice must be for 3 month so people know what they've been charged for but of course that's not gonna happen because as soon as someone sees £79 instead of £28 not gonna continue to order the treatment.

Bad Customer Services

I ordered the products for a 30 day trial, I didn't get on the with products and didn't think anymore of the company. Today I have received a box with 90 days worth of product inside that I don't want. they had taken the money £74 plus postage from my bank yesterday!!
When I rang to say I wanted to return the products and don't want to be a member the bloke continued to try to sell me the product offering me 50% etc. I keep repeating myself saying I'm not interested you have taken my money for a product I don't want. He didn't give me a RAN number and told me there system doesn't do this anymore, so will be returning my parcel tracked & signed to ensure I know it has gone back.
Do not use this company!!
I am 80 pound out of pocket and have to wait 2-3 weeks for my money!! Disgrace!!
They don't even give you an opt out choice on there website!!

Do not use this company

Do not use this company, unless you are happy for money to just be taking out of your bank account even after cancelling your account and returned the goods back to Proactiv. I've now had to cancel my card as they have now taken £64 even though I paid £11.00 to ensure signed for recored delivery to send the kit back. So currently I have no kit and now £75 out of pocket!!

Scam. Never asked for a subcription but noticed that they have been charging my bank account. Called to cancel and they said they had. I just got charged again!! going to the bank. Wish companies like this were held accountable for taking people money WITHOUT their permission.

Its a legal scam !!!

Its a legal scam !!!. Its only when you read the small print do you see what you have got into and by then its too late.

The telephone lines are just recordings and the cancellation email address just bounces back. when you send a e-mail cancelling.

I Purchased a 30 day kit, but little do I know it was not to be a once off payment. I noticed they then had one month later, taken for a 90 day kit from my credit card.

I having failed to contact them via phone, I wrote a letter to them(address in the small print T&C) and also informed by bank ( Card Services) who were very helpful and asked me to keep all letters and emails cancelling my subscription.

I cannot send back the goods, as to do so from Ireland would be expense, so I have to take the hit and know if they try and get money from me next time my credit card will have to repay it to me.
