I am very sad about prestashop 9. Thats it. I need to choose another platform :( This is hudge amount of time to start form scrach but update form 8 to 9 is impossible, frustrating and not user friendly. I spent many days to realize that I cant do it. Very, very sad, I had it for very many years. Went back to 8 and if it stops working I need to start from scratch.

When I contacted support they basically said that it was not their problem and wont do anything about it. Outrageous!

That was terrible. I tried to set up a store by downloading the code and running it on my own server, and it turned into hours of errors, missing steps and confusing moments. Nothing feels properly documented for real people who just want to launch a store!
If you value your time and sanity, avoid. This was stress, lost hours, and zero trust. 1 stars

I am trying to create my store on Prestashop by downloading the code and running on my server. It is really a pain. I wasted all my day to get a support and read everything on the internet to get some help but Unfortunately, the software is extremely complicated that it keeps you frustating till you delete it.

Terrible CMS. Lacking basic functions. Been working on it for one of my clients, and it's been a very frustrating experience. The support team is not trained to discuss or advise on technical settings. Reported a bug where, on the localisation function, the URLs would remain the same for different subdirectories. They told me to log a ticket and pay 100EUR for reviewing it. Seriously?! Advised the client to migrate to a more sophisticated system

The PrestaShop software is free but essentially unusable without serious modifications and several commercial modules. Commercial modules can be bought from prestashop.com, a website with extremely poor customer service. You can buy a module that doesn't work at all or even breaks your site and not get a refund. We just set this up but are already planning to move away from PrestaShop again.

I contacted the agent Amel,J to enquire about a module.eventhough i sent name of module , she kept asking which one ,the module is developped by prestahsop , and she cant guide me well about how it functions , she kept throwing a link at my face
wich is prestashop too. it is pathetic that they have such agent , good for nothing

I do not recommend, I bought a few plugins a year ago, this year they wanted to enable automatic subscriptions, but my cards expired, fortunately. Prestashop is dying and has a decrease in users every year. At the moment it is already about 0.8% of the market and Wordpress is already 47%. A significant difference :)

Avoid, avoid, avoid! If you want to lose lots of money and then end up with no working shop then go ahead, it's your time, it's your money. But why? Isn't Prestashop free? Yes it is - and you get useless shop, so what do you do? Buy modules - this is how it works. Everything in prestashop is a module, there's no advanced search: buy 100 eur module. No captcha? No problem 50 eur module. Terrible comments functionality - get another 50 euros module. And et the end, when you've bought > 1000 euro modules it starts crashing. My instance is deleting main index.php file randomly and after spending lots of time and money to find a cause my shopping cart is not working. It shows 500 error to customers, no logs on server side and that's it. Prestashop is terrible, slow, totally unstable and keeps crashing randomly. Terrible choice - don't make this mistake. Learn on my mistake.
ps. replying to answer below: I'm a software developer with 15 years of experience - no those are not hosting issues. This is all caused by terribly written code and modules. Most of them are unsafe, slow, and terribly written.

Be careful of the care subscription renewals. These automatically renew without receiving an email prior allowing time to cancel if no longer needed. Earlier this year I switched over to Shopify so no longer host my website through Prestashop however I had a nice surprise when I received a paypal invoice for all the various add ons I was previously running via Prestashop for which they refuse to refund :(
They come back with a generic response however is it not good business practice to at least notify a customer you are taking payment prior especially for an annual subscription which to be fair has very little detail on it when purchasing.

I'm a developer working on a module for a client. All third-party providers of a similar module have discontinued their support for their own modules, and I discovered the hard way. After spending days developing on the latest version of Prestashop, I noticed client's site is running 1.7. So I upgrade to 8 and everything breaks. Several pages throw exceptions related to the core Prestashop's code. I don't understand how you can release a product with visible bugs on all major pages. I've always advised people to use Woocommerce for their online shops. I stopped using Prestashop years ago before this nonsence. I'd restore my clients' backups and refund them.

absolute joke of a company. Slow hosting servers, broken checkout module that is supposed to send a verify email but it doesnt because apparently it's your PayPal account thats broken nothing to do with them. speak to them in English, get an email in French! avoid them at all costs.
3 days and multiple phone calls later and still no further forward. even got a uk phone number. that gets answered in france and no support at all for English speakers.

Worse service anywhere. They charged me for a renewed subscription I never agreed to. Do not even have Ebay any more! Plus I cancelled before payment date yet they still took money and will not help in refunding. They need to consider their conning of customers!

You should not impose a renewal and assume customers wish to renew where ever they come from! You attitude relating to business customers proves your level of service! Its just up-selling and maybe the only way you can make money! Certainly not to good customer service skills is it, specially when you confirm i was one day out!

I like the modules when they work but prestashop always sides with sellers when a module is defective and the seller refuses to fix things.
The issue in my backoffice goes away when you turn off the sellers module yet they are just taking the side of the seller.
UPDATE: I contacted prestashop based on their response below and they did NOTHING to resolve the issue. So don't be fooled by their "we would like the opportunity to look into this issue". They won't do anything.
So don't give them any money you are not willing to lose since they will NOT refund even when it meets their policy.
