Felt pressured to eat quickly and leave

I frequent Pizza Express at least once a month, and have always had a positive service and great food. Sadly that was not the case with my last visit to Pizza Express in the Derbion on the 11.04.2026. I was celebrating my 60th birthday with 3 of my close friends. We had pre-booked a table for 8.30pm. When we were seated, we were told that we had to order our starters and mains together, as the kitchen was closing at 9pm. I was shocked. We ordered our drinks and starters and mains. When our food arrived, shortly afterwards our receipt was also placed on the table. We felt very rushed, and I started to get very stressed, as the staff were not friendly and we were not tended to. We had no time to buy further drinks or order a dessert. Sadly my 60th birthday celebration at Pizza Express was far from enjoyable and I left the restaurant very upset, disappointed and dissatisfied. My friends and I will not be visiting again. If you are offering booking at 8.30pm your customers should still have at least 1 hour and 30minutes to enjoy their meal and order desert and further drinks. If the kitchen is closing at a certain time please reflect this on the website and booking slots should stop at 7.30pm or 8pm at the very latest.

A limp meal

Just a quick observation about PEs salad. I ordered a Buddha Bowl salad costing around £16. It was meagre and tight fisted given that it mainly consisted of a handful of bagged mixed salad with token quantities of goats cheese, beetroot and seeds that in all must have added up to less than two quid. These salad dishes must vary according to the whims of the chef and the availability of ingredients. Either way, be more imaginative... and generous.

Carlisle branch

Went to the Carlisle branch. The staff were stood around looking at their phones, chatting and talking to off duty staff who seemed to come in for some food and drink instead of clearing the dirty tables. There were tables covered in dirty plates when we arrived that we were still filthy when we left. Literally bringing out our main courses before clearing the table, they initially tried to overcharge us as they couldn’t seem to understand their own meal deal offer, they did rectify that, but the pizzas were really poor, very little topping, we won’t be going back there.

£4.00 refund for a missing £13.95 pizza - RIP Pizza Express

I ordered 3 pizzas and some dough balls. I was given 2 pizzas. I asked the delivery driver who said that was all he was given. Pizza Express Salford no longer accept calls. I went through the Deliveroo app Order help. I was charged £13.95 for the pizza that did not arrive and £37.10 for the cold pizzas and priority delivery. I was refunded £4.00 for a £13.95 pizza and told they refund a percentage that would be in my account in 5-7 days. I was then asked to send a photo of the pizza I didn't receive. I sent a picture of the boxed I did get and the Dominos pizza that I got to replace the missing one. Needless to say. Deliveroo app is being deleted and Pizza Express have lost a customer.

Five Star customer service at it’s best!

Took advantage of the January offer,(buy one main and get another for £1). Wonderful way to entice and lure new, (would be) customers to venture into their restaurants.

Visited the Trafford centre branch and despite it appearing packed,( with at least 20 people queuing to get in) Aga was absolutely amazing and helpful and found us a quiet area to sit and relax,( I struggle with noise and being too close to others).
Aga was first class at making us feel valued and respected. She is a credit to the Pizza Express brand.
We had a pizza and salad bowl and really enjoyed our meal,( the pizza was surprisingly delicious).

Special mention also to Lisa who was our waitress and very polite and friendly. She kindly assisted me with using the Pizza Express APP.

Would I return to Pizza Express , Trafford Centre? Well I already have!!

Five star ⭐️ service.

Enjoy.

Pizza Express in the Rotunda Kingston

I would like to say a massive thank you to the team at Pizza Express in the Rotunda in Kingston.
We arrived today on an off chance that they could seat a party of 6 and they were brilliant, and could not have been more helpful.
A special thanks to Greg who seated us and took our orders. He was brilliant.

See you again soon

The Worst Pizza Express and Staff in hospitality
Avoid this place

We recently dined at the Pizza Express in Valley Park, Croydon, and unfortunately, our experience did not meet our expectations. While the restaurant has a rating of 3.9, There are service improvements that could significantly enhance the dining experience. Especially the training of the Staff on customer service and politeness

On the evening of our visit, which followed a fun outing of bowling, we arrived early 2 hours to make a reservation for 9pm and specifically requested a particular table. Was repeatedly told you close at 11 pm The manager kindly assured me that it would be available, even though the restaurant was only about 25% full.
We got delayed at Bowling and I had gone out of my way to call and tell them we were going to be 20-30 min late ...The Guy (manager, as I recognised his voice ) said no problem
However,When we returned we did not get out table and got a table in the corner !! we were annoyed but let if go
As we settled in, We noticed there were cutlery on the table. We ordered our starter and requested the cutlery. When the starters came, we again requested the cutlery!! The waiter, a young guy, came with a bunch of cutlery and just slammed it all on the table in a big pile!!! Really didn't even give it to us individually, just slammed them on the table

we noticed an unusually quick turnover of our courses, to the point where some of my friends had NOT finished their starters when their main courses arrived. This timing felt a bit overwhelming and rushed, and really not acceptable.

When we approached the manager to share our concerns, he appeared dismissive and did not offer an apology, which was disappointing. We also encountered a brunette waitress, who, while perhaps just having a tough night, was not as attentive as one would hope. We had mentioned while ordering we really wanted to trismu if they could hold on to 2 portions as they were popular

While waiting to order dessert, the Brunette waitress came to our table around 10.45pm and we were informed that the bar was closed, and the restaurant would be closing at 11pm . When we expressed interest in ordering dessert, we were unexpectedly told that we could not do so. This was quite disheartening, especially as we were looking forward to concluding our meal with something sweet.
That same waitress then said after asking why no one had approached us to take the dessert order. She said " I did not come because I/We decided NOT to serve you dessert!" because we complained and got annoyed due to the lack of service and politeness ...Or was it because we were Indians ??? Do you have a racial issue in that branch ???

When we sought assistance from the manager once more, he declined to provide his name and his overall demeanor came across as somewhat sarcastic, which added to our frustration. Additionally, neither of the waitresses offered their names when asked, which would have been helpful for us to express our concerns more specifically.

In the end, the manager decided not to charge us for our meal, indicating an understanding that something was amiss during our visit. However, I did find it troubling that the brunette waitress engaged in a discussion about our behavior rather than reflecting on her own.

Overall, I believe there is potential for this restaurant to enhance the customer experience significantly. Given everything, I can understand why the overall rating here is currently at 2.1.

Ruined my Birthday evening totally!!!

Falling standards

Wife and I decided to take advantage of the "buy one get one free" offer at the cambridge branch (the one near the round church)
We ordered one vegetarian and one meat pizza and a bottle of fizzy water to share.
The standard of food that arrived at our table was breathtakingly poor!
Thin translucent bases with very little topping.
I know cost-cutting is a big thing these days but, come on Pizza Express, you can do better than this!
There was a time you served good food, not now it seems.
We would normally have paid just under £50 but because of the deal it cost around £25. which I would have been happy to pay had the meal been of an acceptable standard.
We did ask the waitress if the poor quality was due to the deal, "not so" she said.

Tasted good but low quality and rude staff

Food tasted good but I've never seen such a thin crust on a pizza. If you held it up you could see the topping from underneath the pizza. While it tasted nice it didn't seem great value for money. Also the waitress who served us seemed to be in a bad mood throughout barley speaking to us or interacting. Then when I didn't add a tip she became even more rude and didn't acknowledge us again. Very off putting and made us feel unwelcome. Birmingham location in the ICC

We visited pizza express venue Cribbs…

We visited pizza express venue Cribbs causeway Bristol this evening 7/01/26 at 6pm. Disabled press button into restaurant was not working. Waited a long time to be greeted & sat down at our table. Food was lovely but service was awful very very slow. I ordered a hot chocolate to finish & it took so long to come that I very nearly cancelled it. Waitress did apologise for keeping us waiting. We were pleased to leave finally when our bill was paid. Very disappointed we have eaten there previously & not had this level of waiting time to be served & then to have food brought out. The restaurant wasn’t particularly busy

Cost cutting death spiral

I used to enjoy casual dining at different Pizza Express outlets. It was consistently good quality, good service in a stylish environment. Sadly the brand has declined dramatically and appears to be in a cost cutting death spiral. The ingredients have been cheapened, the quality of service has declined and the interiors now often look tired and cheap. Sadly a tragic example of how private equity can sometimes destroy a business with short term cost cutting thinking. The trust has been broken, like many others, I am no longer a customer.

Ordered some pizzas New Year’s Eve…

Ordered some pizzas New Year’s Eve showed up stone cold and inedible. Branch doesn’t answer phone for two hours - when they do they say there’s nothing they can do. (Is it really that hard to send a warm pizza?) contacted support - closed until 3 Jan. obviously I want a full refund.

Having finally got back to me on the 6 of Jan they confirmed the order was 75 mins from when the pizza was cooked and ready in shop to the time it arrived at my door step (started waffling on about how they have new containers that keep things warm for longer
- evidently not.)

They then had the cheek to offer a discount on my next order of £20 for a £50 order. - how on earth is that reasonable? Do you just send any old crap out now and still expect customer to pay for it? What happened to standards? Night ruined and they expect me to order there again? Should be a full refund without question and offer some discounts to try and get us to use their services again. Can’t say I ever will

We visit PizzaExpress regularly at many…

We visit PizzaExpress regularly at many locations, but this branch was a real disappointment and needs shaking up.

The chicken starter arrived fridge-cold, the dough balls were tiny, and the La Reine pizza had barely any tomato on the base. Service was very slow despite the restaurant being extremely busy and having plenty of staff on duty.

Only two staff members seemed to be holding things together, while the rest appeared disengaged and not paying attention to customers. The kitchen team also didn’t give a great impression.

Overall, it was a poor experience, especially compared to the standard we usually expect from PizzaExpress.

What a ripoff

What a ripoff! We went to Cheshire oaks to do some shopping and decided to have food here as we don’t live locally. The prices were through the roof and portions small. I had lasagne £18.95 pretty small portion my wife pasta dish was even smaller. Service was poor, very understaffed. Food tasted fine and that’s why I gave it a 2 star. I also used the toilet while there and it could do with a good clean! I certainly won’t return to a pizza express. 1st and last time for me.

Street, Somerset - shockingly expensive!!!!!!

Street, Somerset. Eye wateringly expensive and very average food. I had one small square of lasagna (£16.95!) 1 piece of plain garlic bread (£6.25!) 1 Diet Coke (£5.80!). I was in a hurry and stopped off for a quick lunch. Huge mistake. I don't know how they have the nerve to charge these prices! One positive thing to note is that the staff are great, although there are too few of them and they're rushed off their feet.
