Have always been a fan of pimp my fish. Genuinely the best fish n chips in Cambridge
Found them by accident and gave them a go. Was delighted with their fish and chips. Light tasty battered Hake, perfectly cooked chips. Mushy peas were spot on too. Will be on the look out for them again in future.
Used Pimp My Fish a lot, they have provided catering at events for the company I work for and attend the Food Park near the company, their Boss Hog meal and Fish Goujons and Chips are my two personal favourites.
Always a great service.
Great guys and great food, best truck on the Cambridge Campus
The traditional fish'n'chips are nicely cooked and generous, and the burger and burrito are great when you fancy something a bit different
It was a private social with a great many order to fulfil. We had to book and purchase previously. The portions of fish and chips were huge. The fish coated in a crispy coating and the chips twice cooked making them crispy and flavoursome. Lovely sides of mushy peas, slaw and sauce. Most enjoyable. Very polite staff doing the cooking. The meal was so good we may become fish and chip groupies as there are lots of local sites that they visit which can be found on their website. Would recommend for public and private
There were alternatives to fish
Excellent well cooked fish and chips, large portions. Totally recommend.
Without doubt my favourite take away!
The Del Toro is my personal choice and the curry sauce is the best I have tasted anywhere.
Freshly prepared as you arrive to collect and portion sizes are generous
booked Pimp my fish for a corporate lunch for our colleagues in Shefford, fab food, great organisation, turned up on time, lots of options for the veggies, vegans, and gluten and dairy intolerant. Just fab all round!
Too busy to take my order verbally. Instead directed me to a sign that detailed how to order on the website. All that when I am stood 2 foot away. He didn't even check that I had a smartphone (I didn't).
So I walked away.
Maybe he didn't take cash either? Who knows?
This is the state of takeaway food vans in 2024.
This was our first choice of caterer for our wedding last weekend as we wanted to support a local business.
However, the feeling was not reciprocated.
We had a contract and payment plan which we took out in August 23 and in January 24 John cancelled on us due to, in his words, getting a better offer of several nights working at the beer festival in Cambridge, telling us about how he struggled through Covid and couldn’t turn down the opportunity.
On the plus side he did recommend Joe from Baxter Catering who was professional to the core, honoured our booking and served delicious fish and chips at our wedding.
Just beware that if booking Pimp my Fish for a wedding, you may be bitterly disappointed when they get a better offer. In our eyes what they did was totally unethical in a business world. Shame on you!
Sorry decided to try but didn't like, fish quite tough and as for mushy peas not actually mushy so what's the point. Pleased I only had a child's portion so didn't waste that much money
what to Say I had seen the there Van parked in the King Bill car park last year. I love there line up of food and Last year i did seem to go everywhere. what I like is you know you have had a meal a lot of these vans you get tiny meal and still hungry but the case with Pimp My Fish. Still waiting for
them to go to Girton. There staff are friendly the food is great. Chips are so nice I can't work out why other shops can't seem to do the same the fish is not greasy and is always very tasty. I have yet to try the toro i am old school so fish and chips or Sausage and chips is what I have.
I initially ordered the weekend before writing this review. Due to a change in circumstances, I was no longer going to be in the local area to pick up the food from the Pimp My Fish van - broken down car - so I got in touch with John via one of the Facebook posts.
John was lovely and understanding and issued a refund as requested. He did let me know that if I did manage to make it, then where I could go if I changed my mind.
The solid customer service brought me back to the last weekend when I was in one of the local areas they were going around (and made it with no car issues this time!). I absolutely enjoyed the food. I particularly liked the halloumi del toro, something about the relish, sauce, just paired so well with the halloumi. I will say I think it did better than the fish version. The chips were great as well! How I can also forget about the deep-fried brownie, definitely hitting the sweet spot. I look forward to trying more next time!
