I was looking for an app that would animate my travels and this is the closest to what I imagined. It has its flaws and limitations but it's not expensive and you can always record a video and do some edits later. Mobile apps that I've tried just didn't work. They seem great at first and then then can't find 20% of your locations (very famous locations!). PictraMap at least doesn't limit you in any way to pin locations wherever you want on the map and also name them.

One great feature is that it autodetects the location of the photo whenever the metadata is available. This saves a lot of time on sorting.

Pictramap offers a pretty easy way to illustrate your travels. Those little animations that I always thought “must be pretty to do” in fact weren’t. Turns out that these little movies add so so so much more to my holiday slideshows/movies. Thanks and well done!

I found this application is wonderful and I found what I was looking for in it. It is really wonderful and mimics reality to a great extent when you add it to your videos.

waste of your time and money

Its dump, childish, inaccurate, slow, minimal, and a complete waste of your time

I've made a pictorial map on it, it's great, but it has a problem that it travels straight, not if you want to go round. Otherwise totally fine, I love this

The tool was exactly what I was looking for: A possibility to visualize our travel to Japan and South Korea with an airplane flying over a world map like in the movies. I used it make a presentation to the other family members and included some images of the places and hotels we wod be staying at. It also made me work on the travel itinerary in the process so it was also helpful for the overall planning process. It would have been nice to upload your own music because the provided songs did not really match my taste, and also a proper export function would have been great.

I been used the apps for 1 month. This apps is very user friendly and ease to used. Not as complex like others mapping apps.

However, I would like to suggest for this apps function to be expanding. This apps can be embedded as a digital map for tourism digital brochures. My suggestion to the developer is to update the apps especially the details location / tourism destination frequently. And enhance various function such graphic, length of time and destination length.

In term of plotting the land route, I recommend the line to be more flexible according to the land route on the map. Currently the land route is more towards flight way plan (a straight line). And its become funny to real user to be used in real situation/real world.

When I first discovered Pictramap several years ago, I never intended to use it for its primary application as a travel description. I applied it as a historic travelog of my family from 1750 Scotland to where I am presently living in Manhattan Beach with all the stops in between. I inserted the resulting video in my website, faulknerfamilyhistory.com and it very well served its purpose in showing another facet of my family’s genealogical picture. I could have downgraded a long time ago, but I felt the price was so nominal that I wanted to compensate you for a very intuitive and graphic piece of software, therefore I kept it open for a while. I don’t feel guilty any longer and feel you have been rewarded. Once Covid lets up, I I begin traveling again, I may well upgrade to show my journeys. My wife an I have Croatia, Italy and Spain on the agenda.

Every month I pay a fee, meaningless, for a program that I hardly use, or only use after a holiday. In addition, the program is not user-friendly; you have to record it with 'screen recording' and also the name "Pictyramap" remains at the bottom. In short, a lot needs to be improved if it is to become something. If you take a look at the app “Travelboast” > what I use now < you can see how it can be done. I'm sorry I can't tell you better

What is this?? I wanted to download my project and therefore paid and upgraded to "Pro".
However you can't really download the project, you just get to use some Beta version screenrecorder. I mean you can just download some screenrecording software for free and do the same thing yourself. It will most likely even work better.
And after the paywall they tell you that you need and i7 processor or it basically looks like ****. Nice to know when you already spent the money.

And when I try to cancel my subscribtion; first of all it ends immediately and second I can't cancel it before I, my self, go manually delete the extra locations used in one of my projects.

Good, simple to use. I would love other options such as being able to use your own .png or image to replace the mode of transportation graphic, although that may be an option beyond the pay wall, that I have not paid.

Interesting app. The only one doing exactly what I was looking for on the internet.

I loved this program! Easy to use and intuitive. Many different map options for the right look and feeling to your video. I used the free version for a short vid and then upgraded to the paid Pro plan for a larger project. The pro plan was reasonably priced and sized. When finished with the big project it was easy to downgrade back to free plan. The export option creates a .webm file which I was able to convert to .mp4 with a free converter. This allowed me to do the deep edit and manipulation on Final Cut Pro. The developers were always in contact with me to get feedback..I was impressed with their dedication to the product. Some suggested improvements are on the way.

Use case: I wanted to create an Indiana Jones style flight path timeline of places I visited.

Experience: I stumbled upon this little gem and it definitely gets to what I wanted.

Pros:
✅ Cool, Indiana Jones Travel animations
✅ Easily and intuitively add pictures to each animated travel hop
✅ Variety of map types a great plus
✅ Flexible unsubscribe option
✅ Very good customer service and technical support that clearly listens to user responses and is feedback driven.

Cons:
❌ You do not get an uncrippled free tier so you must pay to get a great single try-out scenario.
❌ Picture slide shows are limited in their display type - would have preferred a modal view instead of full screen fader
❌ No way to do a "presentation" style display
❌ Best way to create video presentations is to export it out to your favorite video editor and do customizations.

Advice to development team:
📣 This is a great gem, and precisely what I hoped to find and be able to do. Really glad you guys implemented it. Continue to listen to all the user feedback and implement change.
📣 Create a more flexible payment option. I wouldn't mind paying more for an on-demand, ad-hoc, one-off use case instead of a subscription ( which is much more suitable for frequent travelers )

I liked the red car moving from a point to a point on the map. So, I was so excited when I finished my project. Unfortunately, they let me use only one song instead of a couple of them. It was really annoying to listen to the same sound over and over. (for over 20 min!)
When I tried to upload this project on Youtube, I was shocked to see how low quality the video exported!! I ended up using imovie and it turned out a LOT better! I'm cancelling this. It's too bad.

I wasn't looking for another better web services to make an animated map but this one looked good. Though it gives bad flexibility in settings even when you pay subscription. And the worst thing - if you cancel the subscription you can't use the service until the end of the paid period. ANd if you have projects which exceed the limits of a free plan -you have to MANUALLY simplify or remove this project. First time I experience such an approach!
