"PhoneLookUp.co" Absolute SCAM Thieves!
Absolute SCAM Thieves!
I had an unknown number on my mobile phone. Googled "Phone Number Look Up" and paid 0.10p to an online company "PhoneLookUp.co" who emailed a "report" that had NO information whatsoever. Two days later I noticed that a sum of £49.90 had been taken from my Bank Account via PayPal because of "a subscription I had signed up for!" SCAM THIEVES! I did NOT sign up for any "subscription!" I contacted PayPal who said "there were NO grounds for disputing this transaction!" UNBELIEVABLE! I contacted the so-called online PhoneLookUp company who have offered me a 50% refund - £24.95 - as "a measure of goodwill". This is scandalous! It is PURE SCAM ROBBERY! PayPal should accept responsibility that on their platform SCAM THIEVES are operating. BEWARE! PayPal - you need to help your honest customers against these thieves.
DO NOT USE
I just wish I could give -5 stars, I went to their webpage to look up an unknown caller , they required an upfront payment of 10p after a min or so it came back they couldn’t track the number and there was no information, I later found out the number was the outpatients department from the hospital , two days later I checked my account and found £49.90 taken out I immediately emailed them and was asked for bank account details for a refund . I told them they had them as they had withdrawn money without authorization I contacted the bank they were not very helpful and said I had to give the company 28 days to respond, 28 days later I had another withdrawal of £49.90 I immediately contacted the bank and raised a dispute next day I rxd two refunds for the full amount and an email from phonelookup saying I shouldn’t have gone to the bank I should have contacted them 12 emails over 28 days got no result from the company DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY
Scam!!!!!! Do not use Phonelookup.co
This company is operating a subscription scam. They advertise that for 10p you can get details of who called you. They then charge £49.90 to your card account. When contacted they say they will refund 50%
I have contacted my card issuer but they say they cannot cancel a 'pending' charge and I have to wait until it is paid before asking for help. That is not acceptable.
Scam scam scam
Fell for this scam £49.90 lighter and PayPal won’t help me said it was a legitimate payment. Please be very careful with these scams
This is an absolute scam
This is an absolute scam! The difficulty is that because it’s offered on line as a free service people don’t think to look for reviews before using it.
Yes I fell for this blatant scam
Yes I fell for this blatant scam, led to believe, from there website format, that I was paying 10 pence through Pay Pal for a one off check of one land line number then two days later found I had been charged £49-90 and been signed up to a further £49-90 a month without my consent. I have since contacted PayPal, who have been marvelous, and assured me of a full refund. I have also canceled my subscription and received an email confirming it has been canceled. Happy days!!
please do not let them con you
they should really have 0. its a shame most people dont read these reviews before they buy. Basically they will take £49.95 from your paypal account. And seems paypal is supporting this con company because they will not refund. not only do they take money but they offer no services at all that they say they will. its a complete fraud.
Used this "Free look up" scam
Used this "Free look up" site to look up a phone number charged £0.10. which I paid through Paypal. Next day was charged £49.90 Pro membership that I did not sign up for. I contacted Paypals resolution centre and explained the situation.Today, They deemed it an unauthorised payment and refunded my £49.90. In the meantime I received a payment receipt from Phonelookup and using the link, accessed my supposed account and canceled "my" subscription and found that if I had not they would have charged me £50 every month until I did so. I also had them blocked from my Paypal account
Today the deduction of 29.94 euros is…

Scam
Scam, just got a notification from my band for a £49.90 payment. Checked my account and the payment was still pending. Called my bank, stopped my card and bank said to contact them again if payment goes through for a refund. Stay clear!!
Phonelookup is a scam
signed up after seeing a price of £0.10 clearly displayed on the website. Shortly after, £49.90 was taken from my card without this cost being clearly explained at the time of payment.
I did not knowingly agree to a subscription. The pricing was misleading, and the charge came as a shock — especially as I am currently jobless.
I feel this practice is unfair and not transparent. I would advise others not to use the service.
Scam
Scam. Paid 10 pence to have a number checked and unwittingly signed up for their subscription. Beware.
Sign into your account and cancel the subscription or you'll be charged monthly via your automatic direct debit.
Scam
Scam! Absolute scam. They lure you in with a so called 10p check, then attempt to take £49.90 from your account as a fake recurring subscription that I never agreed to, authorised, or even saw. Judging by the other reviews, this is not a mistake but a pattern. This company appears to exist purely to siphon money from people hoping they won’t notice. Reported to the authorities and the payment provider. Now red flagged. Avoid at all costs unless you enjoy having money stolen and wasting time cancelling fraud.
