Fake security, Zero protection, No Refund. Completely useless service

I’ve been waiting since May 31st for a scam refund. Instead of protecting me, PayPal acted as an open door for scammers, who attempted massive unauthorized withdrawals from every single linked card—ultimately succeeding with one of them. My strongest advice to everyone is to NEVER link your debit cards to this platform; only use reloadable/prepaid cards with limited funds.
However, this completely defeats the purpose of the platform. If the only safe way to use PayPal is with a reloadable card, and they refuse to issue refunds when things go wrong, PayPal automatically becomes entirely useless. Why use an intermediary if you have to bear all the risks yourself?

To make matters worse, their buyer protection is a joke. A claim process that is supposed to take up to 10 days has been dragging on for a month. Now, customer support claims that due to a "system error," the entire investigation must start over from scratch. PayPal is advertised as a secure safety net for online transactions, but it provides absolutely no protection and zero accountability when a crisis hits. It is completely useless.

I lost my home yesterday. A payment dispute almost broke me today

I'm from Ukraine. I've used PayPal exactly three times this year.

Yesterday, a Russian missile hit my house. The day before that, I had placed a preorder - a gift for a child. After the strike, it became immediately, painfully obvious that we don't need toys right now. We need to relocate.

So I spent an entire business week trying to reach the shop to cancel the order and get a refund. I got nothing back. Not a word.

Fine. I went to PayPal. I initiated a dispute myself.

I then spent a significant amount of time re-explaining things that should have been obvious

when your physical safety is not guaranteed, having to re-explain obvious facts to a payment processor is not a minor inconvenience so I did it anyway. I filled out every field. And when I hit submit, PayPal showed me an error.

No error code. No explanation. No estimated restoration time.

I already feel disposable as a Ukrainian, dismissed by the shop and then by PayPal as well.

I have nothing polite left to say to either of them.

Paypal Supports Scam Companies from China

I was scammed by a company from China for portable foldable stools that were misrepresented in their videos, one item was missing, & they charged my credit card more than the confirmed amount. Despite claiming the overcharge was a system error, no refund was received nor did they refund me for the missing product. The company, Ironod also advertises under at least 4 other company names. All these company names were found on numerous scam sites. Despite the multitude of evidence provided, Paypal sided with the scam company. Not for a minute do I believe any of the documents submitted were reviewed or given serious consideration. Clearly Paypal is a proponent for scam companies from China versus protecting the consumer. They are a complete waste of time & I will be discontinuing use of my Paypal.

Horrible Customer Service

Horrible for small business, they treat you like a criminal and don't even tell you why they are deactivating the account. Just the stale copy and paste customer service emails that tell you nothing specific. Freezing funds for 180 days is PayPal standard practice. I had zero charge backs, zero, not one issue. Nothing risky, just miscellaneous metal products I manufacture. Thankfully PayPal was not my primary payment processor. Don't leave any money in your accounts or just avoid them like the plague they are. I've used them for about 20 years mostly for international invoicing before they deactivated my business account. No more PayPal for me, including personal accounts.

Their "customer" service should be…

Their "customer" service should be titled MERCHANT SERVICE! I have asked for 3 refunds due to product not being as described or not delivered. Only one was refunded. Their tactic is to deny, deny, deny until you are exhausted. They ask you for proof that something has not been delivered! How the hell am I supposed to do that!?!? They base their reputation on secure transactions which may be true, but stand behind your customers too not just the merchant's. I will find other ways going forward to use online.

I was using PayPal credit regularly up…

I was using PayPal credit regularly up until recently, I paid off most of my credit in anticipation of I a large purchase i knew I was was going to make with the PayPal credit card, cut to the day of the purchase im in a shop 200 miles away from home with my virtual card in Apple Pay and the transaction get refused 3 times, embarrassing and frustrating as the situation is also time sensitive, after 3 phone calls to PayPal to try and resolve the issue with the useless AI bot I got through to a human who was very polite but equally as useless as the bot my isssue did not get resolved, after leaving all 0’s in the “how did we do?” Survey, PayPal treated this as a compliant and they launched an investigation into the matter, their conclusion was that I WAS able to make the transaction so case closed, when in actual fact I WAS NOT able to make the transaction and still have no reason as to why? So PayPal is not a reliable form of payment and they clearly cannot investigate issues properly.

Unreliable

I gave PayPal 2 stars because of their random, excessive holding times. Trying to send money from my personal bank account to a business shouldn't result in my funds being held hostage for up to 10 business days without warning. It completely ruins the convenience of using the platform.

PayPal seems to be working with a scam…

PayPal seems to be working with a scam company. When you trial a subscription and then cancel it from your subscriptions. PayPal carries it forward and charges you the full price the next month without notifying you. They carry it in a part of the app it is found in the menu under subscriptions or automatic payments which you do not add but PayPal adds., this is the info I found on one of these companies which PapPal is helping to commit fraud. Check your subscriptions frequently because you don’t add them PayPal adds them
The name of the CEO of Convert2.info is intentionally hidden. The website is owned and operated by a shell entity named Silandco, which lists a commercial mail drop address at Condotti 8913, Las Vegas, NV 89117.[1]
This site is a known subscription trap operating behind total anonymity. There is no legitimate executive board, no public CEO profile, and no real corporate transparency. [1, 2]
Why You Cannot Find the CEO
Anonymity: The website operators use privacy proxy networks to mask their legal names, personal identities, and server locations from public domain registries.
Fake Personas: Customer support responses from the site use generic, single-name signatures like "Tom" to avoid revealing the real creators. [1]
Deceptive Practices: The business model relies on attracting users with a "free" or low-cost $0.50 trial, then automatically charging recurring monthly fees of $30 to $50 without explicit consent. [1]
Because this is a hidden operation, trying to contact a corporate executive or the website support will not resolve your issues. Your only effective option is to stop the charges through your financial institution.

I paid with PAYPAL a washing machine

I paid with PAYPAL a washing machine. The company, MediaMarkt, was to deliver the machine the 18th of June. Did not deliver. Then they should deliver the 23rd of June and did not deliver. I opened a case with PAYPAL which i have used for 13 years, and suddenly they close my case. So tomorrow i hsve to denounce case to police and of course stop using PayPal completely.

If you do not receive your product and you send them emails that you have reached out to a seller with no reply they should immediately process a refund not make you wait for them to investigate. I will no longer use PayPal to pay for things they do not see to want to help you when they say they will

PayPal guarantees your payments ha ha

I paid for a Groupon break with PayPal thinking my money was safe and guaranteed. Silly me. Groupon was a nightmare, a seperate issue. We cancelled and it showed as refunded, but the money never came. They refused to refund. I appealed to PayPal, their website is a nightmare and cuts you off as you are typing. They strangely found in Groupons favour. 6 times I had to ring (1hour) and wait to get through to a specialist advisor. Each time they assured me my case was genuine and they would get my money back. Within a week, each time they decided in Groupons favour. They ignored my information that what Groupon was saying wasn't right and we could prove it. Although I spoke to them 7 times over the month, they closed the case because it was over 30 days old and refused to re-open it. We got our refund from Groupon through the small claims court, which showed our case was genuine. I've closed my Paypal account and would never trust them again. Appalling service to a loyal customer of 20years.
