Public transport in The Netherlands has become third world. Escalators and lifts at stations do not work. Busses are hardly on time and there are often delays due to other reasons. It is atrocious.

scamers

they keep assigning fines to me to pay extra instead of notifying me if my payment for the card didn't go through. This is just a scam. And it doesn't give you any advantages in the public transport, compared to check in/out with banking crad directly; only extra charges for no reason

1 star is even a lot

1 star is even a lot. My card became invalid, hence I contacted the customer service. They didn't give me a reason as to why my card became invalid - but told me to just get a new one.

Horrible Customer Service

The customer service just puts you in an infinite waiting loop and cannot answer your questions. Horrible service! Just wanted a simple answer about the subscriptions offered and was put on hold multiple times for minutes.

Most worst services. Never use Automatic reloading.

They worst kind of services. Never do Automatisch opladen / automatic credit reload. On their website they do not have link to remove automtic upload in English. I was not able to remove it from ov-chipkaart then i removed it from bank. After that they send payment letter (as per them) but i never receive that later and they blocked my card. Once i called to customer care then they were told me that it was forwarded to debt collection agency. Then i called to debpt collection agency and now i have to pay debt collection charges of 40 euros.

THIS IS A SCAM!

I spent around 5 euros on travels, I was charged 30 euros, then asked for 70 euros by a debt company, because I had not paid 30 euros. I never received any emails regarding this matter, there is no info on the website.

Terrible service, person on the line was rude and hung up the phone

If I could give 0 starts I would do it. Terrible customer service, the women who answered the line literally hung me off the phone because I did not speak Dutch and she did not want to try English. Besides this, the tone of voice was not friendly. Feeling sorry if she hates her job, but she shouldn’t work in customer service anymore, perhaps find another job.

Unacceptable Service – Card Lost Due to Miscommunication and Negligence

I am extremely disappointed with the service I’ve received from OV-chipkaart. After several weeks of trying to obtain my personal OV-chipkaart, I’ve been met with nothing but negligence and miscommunication from every level of customer service. Below is a detailed timeline of the issues I’ve faced, which has caused me significant financial stress, with travel expenses exceeding €300 due to this mishandling:

September 5th: I purchased my personal OV-chipkaart. Unfortunately, I accidentally entered a few digits of my home address incorrectly.

September 6th: My card was sent to a non-existent address as a result.

September 12th: I received an email stating that my card had been delivered to this incorrect address. I searched the area, knocked on neighbors’ doors, but couldn’t locate my card.

September 18th: I contacted customer service, and they assured me that they would resend the card to my correct address.

September 26th: After waiting more than a week, I was told they couldn’t verify my correct address and was asked to provide my work address instead. This was particularly confusing, as I had already successfully received packages at my home address in the past.

October 2nd: I was informed that the card had been dispatched to my work address.

October 9th: The card still hadn’t arrived at my workplace.

October 10th: After yet another conversation, I was informed that there were no records of any transactions related to my name, email, or addresses. I was even sent to the wrong address to meet someone who could supposedly resolve this, but upon arrival, I was unable to sort it out.

October 13th: I had a face-to-face meeting at Utrecht Centraal, where I was told my name was not in the system. I was redirected twice, but nothing was resolved.

October 14th: I spent an hour on the phone being transferred from one representative to another. I had to repeat my explanation multiple times, but no one was convinced, and I felt manipulated by promises of help that never came.

After weeks of being redirected between customer service representatives and different departments, and despite reaching out through every possible communication channel—phone, email, chat, and in-person—I’ve received no help whatsoever. I feel completely disregarded. I have documented all of my communications, and it's evident that I’ve been ignored and misled at every step.

I am now in a dire financial situation due to the extra travel costs I’ve incurred by being unable to activate my subscription. I frequently travel between Tilburg and Amsterdam, and I rely on discounted fares, which I have not been able to access because of the constant delays and errors in handling my card.

I am formally requesting compensation for the financial damage this has caused me and an urgent resolution to finally receive my card. The level of incompetence I’ve experienced is inexcusable, and OV-chipkaart’s failure to resolve a simple issue is unacceptable.

I expect immediate action and compensation, as this situation has gone on for far too long.

Bunch of criminals

Bunch of criminals. Ripped me off with hundreds of euros of automatic top-up, blocked my 200 euros subscription, absolutely no customer service. What a disgrace to humanity.

Its a complete scam

Its a complete scam. They charged me 100 euros (5x 20) for travelling 2 times with a train. Which also the train is around 3 euros its not even a long journey. Their customer service is the worst. Do not use ovchipkaart is designed to steal your money. If you want to use 20 for the train, they force you to have 40euros on your account. I keep asking them about my money and theres no answer about that

OV does NOT refund my money.

OV does NOT refund my money.
OV chaipcard has charged me 20€ because my debit card touched the gate mistakenly.
I have called them 3 times and everytime I spent more than 20 minutes on the line and been trying to explain the issue to their staffs and although they accepted that OV should refund my money back, I never received €20.
What a terrible time wasting company and customer service.

Customer service = 0

Worst customer service ever! So rude, unhelpful employee on the phone who does want to close up the phone... no respect for the client. She did not want to help, and she was mad because I asked her to say the number she gave me again. I don't speak dialect, so you should take it easy on me.

It's like a 18th century

It's like a 18th century. Customer support is a disaster. If you set an automatic top-up, they will add money even if you have it on the chipcard and don't have on the bank account and then send your case to collectors. A disaster! But a monopoly... no over options.

The worse service i ever encountered

The worse service i have ever experienced around the europe. They have this subscriptions that they gonna chase you after, even though you can as well top-up your card by yourself, so completely useless service to be taken so seriously. And their customer service is impossible to arrange anything with, they just have very short dates for dealing with anything and everything is a no no. So expecting any money back would be a delusion.

OV-chip service is a shame

They could not deliver the name card to the right address, and after weeks of negotiations I had to order a new one and pay for it, but now it has the wrong date of birth with the day and month switched places (although I picked it correctly in the calendar widget) and it's not possible to order NS abonnement for it. They can't change it without a new card, for which I have to pay myself again.

It's very sad there is a monopoly, otherwise, I would recommend NEVER using this card

Dwayne Pinar - Outstanding service

A shout out to Dwayne Pinar, Who was the customer care representative who picked up the phone yesterday. What an amazing service And Dwayne asked such good questions and would summarise the issue in a way that made sense to the point that the solutions were very quick and efficient. I told him I’m gonna write a review because the level of service he gave was beyond normal.

The worst company ever

The worst company ever. Have had my travel card blocked and sent 4 emails and made 10+ calls with no answer. While trying to contact them they have sent me debt collectors charges for money they can't collect from top ups for a card I can't use or top up because I cannot get in contact with them. If there is any other company with travel cards please take over this terrible service.
