The worst website to book…

The worst website to book tickets. They are not co-operative at all. Please don't book tickets from here as the customer service bad and the cancelled tickets because of their mistake won't even be refunded. I lost my $1600

Orbitz is horrible

Orbitz is horrible. I paid for my trip package in full in March 2024. In June, I took my trip. The hotel charged me over $1500 (a credit card was needed upon check in for incidentals). When I saw it pending during my stay, I contacted Orbitz and was told that it would not post. Two days after check out, it did. Orbitz has not helped resolve the issue. The hotel told me that it reversed the charges, but it isn't even pending on my credit card anymore. I will never use Orbitz or thus hotel again.

Car Rental Ripoff

I booked a car rental through Orbitz and was quoted a price of $157.51 including "all mandatory taxes and fees". I ended up being charged $302 by Thrifty. I contacted Orbitz several times. Orbitz claimed that they contacted Thrifty and Thrifty told them the charge was correct. Orbitz refused to do anything else to resolve the issue. DO NOT TRUST THE PRICES QUOTED BY ORBITZ!!

INSURANCE FOR RENTAL CAR

Be careful when you rent a car via Orbitz.
I rented the car in Oregon, USA. When I booked, the INSURANCE section showed 2 options:
1. Rental Car Protection Plan (where you have to pay extra $10 per calendar day - which means most likely you would have to pay for 3 days unless you rent from 12am (midnight) and return at midnight as well)
2. Third party liability (greyed out and it says that it's already included without paying extra)

So, I chose No. 1 to get more protection.

When I arrived at the car rental (Hertz), the lady asked me to show the insurance policy provider (AIG) to make sure that the policy covered for the 3rd party liability as it is mandatory to have 3rd party liability insurance in Oregon.

Apparently, the policy explicitly stated that it doesn't cover for third party liability.
I ended up having to pay another $18 per day to have the third party liability insurance in place.

Suggestion: It's better to get insurance from somewhere else that has comprehensive cover.

Very Disappointing

Assistance, support and customer care are clearly not familiar words to Orbitz. I agree with other comments : just use it to get schedules or to compare airlines, but do not book through them. Yes it's easy and quick, and they have good prices, but if you have any issue, you’ll be on your own, you’ll waste a lot of time and a lot of money.

DO NOT book with Orbitz

DO NOT book with Orbitz and definitely DO NOT prepay for anything. They will not support you or help you resolves issues if anything goes wrong. Use them to compare prices but definitely do not use them to book anything. I just lost $881.00 because of them and they could care less. Been using their service since 2018, no more.

Do not book with this site

I booked with this travel agency over 2 months in advance. Please keep in mind, before you pay for an expensive trip, that this site will not accomodate to your needs. I paid more than $5000 for a trip that could have been changed. I even called the hotel what were their restrictions, and they said it's Orbitz policy issue. Please keep this in mind and don't waste your money on this site who does not advocate for their clients and will keep the money themselves. They will say endlessely, if its an issue, that the "hotel has many restrictions" which is not the case.

I was recently ripped off by Advantage…

I was recently ripped off by Advantage Rent Car, having booked it through Orbitz, I asked for their help in getting a refund of the unwanted extras. (Advantage Rent Car added options, including insurance to my rental, after having purchased insurance with Orbitz). Advantage stonewalled and said no refund. the good news is Orbitz refunded their insurance, the bad news is they refused to ban Advantage from their website. So, a 5 for Orbitz because they recognized the fraud, but a zero because they are allowing Advantage to continue false advertising.

I had been a user of Orbitz for nearly…

I had been a user of Orbitz for nearly 20 years. This past week we drove 14 hours from Colorado to Texas. That day there was a severe storm in Houston and our hotel was without power and we could not stay. We called them and per Orbitz's protocol. That was an issue that fell to our family to find another place to stay. They refunded our money within 4 business days and we had to find our own place at nearly 10pm cst. We will not use orbitz ever again.

first of all there was no indication that my trip would be charged in U.S. dollars and second that there was no refund on my hotel. When I did cancel my hotel, they said there was no refund but that they would contact the hotel directly and see if they would refund( surprise surprise...the hotel said NO) well, I told them thanks for ruining my Mothers day weekend and that I was going to spread the word that ORBITZ are a bunch of SCAMMERS!! BUYER BEWARE!! READ THE FINE PRINT!!

Please do not buy any insurance from…

Please do not buy any insurance from this company. Bought insurance for a flight in May. Plans changed. They said they couldn't change my flight because the airlines deals with it. Go there and they are charging me full price for a flight because I don't have insurance with them. Go to Orbitz and they tell me they can't do anything or even give me refund. They are knowingly robbing you for that insurance knowing damn well they can't do anything for you.

No help on hotel stay date mistake

Booked a flight and hotel together. Due to the length of the flight, it arrives a day later in the destination country. Orbitz automatically set the start date for the hotel for the day the flight leaves... so I was going to miss the entire first day of the reservation and most of the second. I noticed it right after I got to their confirmation window / itinerary and immediately contacted support (5 minutes after booking). After waiting 10 minutes to chat with someone and waiting 2-5 minutes between each of their questions, I needed to respond to their texts within 60 seconds to avoid having my request summarily closed. Having managing to do that, I was told there was nothing the frontline agent could do, but that they would escalate the case internally. I got an email the next day saying the reservation was confirmed with the hotel and Orbitz would do nothing to help me change it. I replied that a room credit would be fine, no money need actually change hands. They still refused to do anything at all. Would not recommend using them.

Car rental vehicle didn't exist

I ordered a car rental, I arrived at the location and they told me there was no cars available. The minimum expectation when ordering a car rental is that the rental company have the vehicle available. If nothing is available, I expect to be contacted about this problem before I travel to pickup the nonexistent vehicle. When I contacted Orbitz they could only offer to cancel.

Better to book direct.

!!Car rental scam at Loreto Airport!!
Do not book a car rental through Orbitz, Expedia, or other 3rd party agent when reserving a vehicle in Loreto!!!!! If you do, the car rental counter staff at the airport will tell you that Orbitz, Expedia, etc. “never sent them the reservation and that they don’t have any vehicles.” Which means that you must go to all the other car rental agencies to see who has a car and how much it will cost. One car rental company staffer wanted to charge $880 for 5 days and another wanted to charge $1200 for 5 days!!!! Since someone in our group spoke Spanish, she was able to get one person to agree to $440 for 5 day – still twice as much as the original reserved price of $230. Shame on you, Loreto car rental agencies!

Orbitz failed to stand behind the reservation cost it quoted

Orbitz made a car rental reservation for me, and included how much additional I would have to pay upon pickup. When the car rental company charged me more than that and I reported it to Orbitz, they threw up their hands and said I had to deal with the car rental company. This begs the question why deal with Orbitz in the first place.

The site is misleading.
It doesn't show you it's in USD dollars until you fully click into the ad.🤦‍♀️ normally sites will show you the currency of your country when booking. First and last time 👎
