From initial email to drop off at…

From initial email to drop off at Kaunas airport the experience was superb. Everything is dealt with from transportation to physio.

The professionalism and care I received was in my opinion far better than that which is provided by the NHS.

Highly Recommend The Nord Clinic

I’ve worked in the NHS for 35 yrs as a clinician , paid my way. When I needed help with my hip I was told use a walking stick and pain killers, I’m 56 years old!!! Even my employers didn’t care very much. So I paid for a Second opinion privately in Uk, was told hip joint is bone on bone will only get worse and a hip replacement is needed. Cost £23K!!! Physio not included, transport not included.

Nord clinic in Lithuania was used by the NHS when the Uk was in the EU and the NHS would pay Nord for the operation. This is how I knew about Nord and how good it was. Nord clinic run a seamless service, everything runs smoothly, excellent customer service and English speaking staff. They are friendly and have a great attitude towards customers. Physio was very thorough and friendly. The whole experience was worth the travelling and cost. Everything is catered for, I travelled as a single woman alone and cannot fault the whole experience. I was scared and was worried about everything, but from the very first email to to being dropped home after the operation and physio I was happy and had nothing th fear, the experience was faultless.
I will be going back sir my other hip in the near future. Amazing , professional service from start to finish.

Shame on the NHS for being such an incompetent organisation.

Book with Nords - Best decision!

I cannot fault a single second of the Nord service, care, physio, logistics, and of course the surgery itself. I am a 40 yo mum of 2 who fully ruptured my acl and tore my medial and lateral meniscus. After being fobbed off for months on the nhs and then told the wait list for surgery was 18 months i decided to take matters into my own hands. I researched alternatives since private uk cost was quoted £12600 for same nhs surgeon. I found Nord Orthopaedics and had seen some good mention of the aesthetics services in my diet group. From first contact to transfer home I received nothing short of 5 star service. I did have a private mri scan to send to clinic for surgery approval. You can get bloods and ecg done in the uk before arrival to ensure a clear bill of health before spending money but i just did mine on arrival as was short on time. Every step of the way i felt at ease and confident in the surgeons ability. I met lots of knee and hip replacement patients from the uk and canada all happy with the service. They will help with hotels and transfers. Plus to and from physio. My surgery cost £3000. Physio is extra but you'd get none post op in the uk anyway. Deffo do the daily physio rehab sessions its a must! Post op summery and discharge letter provided plus xray images. Im back on the nhs physio pathway awaiting appointment and am having stitches out with the GP nurse next week. Book the surgery! You will not regret it! Thanks to my Surgeon Arnoldas, Care Nurse, Physio team and Agne for looking after me throughout.

Patellofemoral Arthritis Lateral Release

I’m 37 and had been living with patellofemoral arthritis in my left knee for 7 years, experiencing sharp pain when squatting, climbing stairs, and walking down steps. My left leg had also weakened significantly as my right leg overcompensated. I originally sought a total knee replacement, but Nordorthopaedics recommended a knee arthroscopy with lateral release, which has already made a huge difference.

Three weeks post-surgery, my range of motion is improving, the shooting pains are gone, and my left leg muscles are reactivating and strengthening. The clinic’s team — especially Neringa and Agnė — provided exceptional support, including airport pickups and daily transport to physiotherapy. Their honesty, expertise, and patient-centred care have made my recovery smooth and encouraging. Highly recommended!

BEST DECISION EVER

I had suffered severe left hip pain since April of this year. I’m a keen cyclist and walker and it literally stopped me in my tracks.. I couldn’t even put my socks on! I contacted NORD in June and was reassured from the start. Unfortunately my Mum died within days of contacting them so had to put my arrangements on hold until after the funeral in July. I sent them my xray results and ECG I had had done here in the UK. I was asked to complete a questionnaire and a few days later was told my hip needed replacing . I’m now 12 days post hip op and home and recovering well. The experience was second to none. From the airport pick up to pre op and the op itself. Such clear instructions and outstanding care in the hospital for 2 nights. The physio was fabulous and it was so lovely to meet peer hipsters or those having knee ops. We were all in it together and it showed helping and encouraging each other. I will continue to follow the exercises strictly and take my medication as directed. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend NORD and Lithuania is such a beautiful country too .

Don't think twice!

It is impossible to speak more highly of Nordclinic. From first point of contact to coming home, the care, treatment and aftercare were outstanding. The professionalism and friendliness of all involved is of course greatly reassuring, from the surgeon and medical team to the desk staff, apartment managers, logistics team and drivers, you constantly feel you are in the best possible hands. This is a highly patient-centred operation!
I would like to give a special mention also to the physiotherapist team - I had 5 mornings of physio aftercare that was not just professional but also fun and encouraging. My operation was a 'mere' arthroscopy, others were having knee or hip replacements - some having their second! - and not one person had a negative word to say about their experience.
My message to anyone reading this is don't think twice! You don't have to put up with pain and suffer for one or two years or whatever waiting for the British NHS to get round to you, if you can, just come and get it sorted!
It's also worth mentioning that Kaunas is a delightful place, but if you'd rather be in a hotel than their own apartments (I had both - the apartments are large and purpose-designed with nurses on hand, the hotels are more central) let Nordclinic book it for you, as it's significantly cheaper than Booking.com!

ACL Surgery

I recently travelled from the UK to have my ACL surgery at Nordorthopaedics and I honestly couldn’t recommend them highly enough. From the very first enquiry right through to aftercare, everything was seamless. The clinic arranged all transport, which made the whole experience completely stress-free.

The price compared to the UK is incredible value, yet the standard of care is outstanding. My surgeon was absolutely brilliant — highly skilled, professional and reassuring throughout. All of the nurses and reception staff were so kind, attentive and helpful; you genuinely feel looked after at every stage.

If you’re considering treatment abroad, I can’t fault Nordorthopaedics — you’re truly in good hands from start to finish.

Worthy of the accolades

Right from my first contact with Nordorthopaedics, I was impressed by their thoughtful and responsive communication. Initially, my main point of contact was a customer services caseworker, who helped guide me through the process and answered any queries along the way.
What gave me additional comfort, was the wealth of genuine feedback and support available from previous patients on their Facebook support group. Although I didn't contribute on this forum, I did benefit from questions, answers and personal experiences being shared there. Importantly, the medical staff were professional and personable. And specifically, the skill of surgeon Dr Sarunas Tarasevicius and his team (including nurses and post-op physiotherapy rehab) reflected their numerous accolades - and gave me the confidence to travel from the other side of the world for treatment.

The best decision I ever made

The best decision I ever made, after a brilliant recommendation from a family friend who had a hip replacement recently at Nord. Due to a long wait to see a consultant at NHS Wales (which still hasn’t happened) let alone a further few years wait for surgery, I decided to contact Nord as my hip and groin pain was excruciating - x-ray showed severe osteoarthritis of the right hip. From the initial contact with Karolina at the end of June, my whole experience with and at Nord has been incredible with every query answered promptly and in full by the medical team, when relevant, through the very efficient admin staff. Having had so much positivity about other people’s experiences I was very happy to travel to Kaunas on 9th August with surgery on 11th. The whole experience was amazing and all arrangements worked seamlessly from pre-op through to my last day at the physio clinic 13 days later. Meeting the surgeon and anaesthetist prior to surgery was good and I felt in safe hands immediately. The nursing team is amazing and so caring and the same applies to the physio team who are there to help and encourage and answer any questions and concerns along the way in a very knowledgeable and professional way. Mini bus journeys to the physio sessions every day were a joy with lots of mutual support and encouragement. All the positivity from Nord staff members as well as from my physio mates was definitely a huge help in the whole healing process and I have nothing but great memories of my time at Nord and Kaunas and will be recommending it to anyone suffering from orthopaedic issues.

Trust these guys - they know what they are doing & you won't regret it

Surgery is daunting....going abroad for it, even more so! I was scared, unsure, not knowing who to trust. Then I found Nord. From the very start the process was seamless. One single point of contact via email to answer all your logistic questions (travel, admin, process etc.) all explained in perfect English with plenty of time to answer specific questions. Once in Kaunas, the service continued to surpass my expectations - pre-op checks were quick & efficient; hospital stay & surgery perfect...well informed at all times of what was going to happen & what the next steps were. Lovely caring, professional and friendly staff. Post-op logistics were all well organised & physio a great addition to help with quick recovery. All in all a fantastic experience (if you can say that about having surgery?!) & I hope the truthful positive reviews on here give you confidence to book up, get your surgery done & get on with living your best life. :o)

Shoulder arthroscopy

Recently returned from Nordorthopaedics, after having a shoulder tendon arthroscopy surgery. It’s very early days as far as the operation and recovery go. However this review is more to do with Nord.
From the very first contact to coming home. Nothing but total praise at their professional yet caring manner in all contact. Nothing was to much trouble, always find a solution to any problem I thought there may be. The stay in hospital along with the operation was so well conducted. I wouldn’t hesitate to go back for another procedure if need be, and I would advise anyone on two minds, just do it you won’t regret.

You won’t regret going!

After struggling for quite a while with worsening pain in my leg, my GP recently contacted me to say an x-ray was showing severe osteoarthritis in my hip, and given the very long NHS waiting lists, I’d be advised to get it sorted privately if that was feasible.

I started looking at options, including overseas, and came across Nordorthopaedics. Everything I started reading about them was very positive and they have a patient support group on Facebook, with nearly all the posts by ex, current and future patients. Again, everything I read was very encouraging, and I soon made initial contact.

Their customer services representative was very good, providing all the information needed, and happy to respond to any further queries. Everything I needed to do was clearly mapped out. They can also help with booking accommodation in Kaunas.

I first made contact late May, and had my total hip replacement late July. As many others have said, the standard of care at the clinic is second to none. I spent 2 nights there post-op before going back to my apartment. Every day I was picked up each morning (along with a small group of fellow patients) and taken in for physiotherapy, which was great and I’m sure really aided the recovery. One bonus too is that Kaunas is a really nice city to stay in, historic, picturesque, clean, lots of shops, restaurants etc, and very good value. 9 days after the operation I flew back to the UK.

I had my operation 3 weeks ago today. I’m now walking confidently without crutches and following the exercises we were given. Although I’ve still got tenderness around the wound site, and won’t be able to sleep on that side for a while, the pain is very minimal and I’m hardly using painkillers. This is nothing compared to the pain I suffered pre-op. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about Nordorthopaedics, and wholeheartedly recommend them.

Nord is great!

Neringa was brilliant at answering my many questions at the beginning of this process. I had been given no help from my GP and was feeling quite depressed about my lack of range of movement in my left arm due to an accident I had 4 years ago when I fractured my shoulder. I had started off my initial enquiries at Aberdeen Albyn Hospital/Circle but found their services to be disorganised and staff to be unhelpful. Circle is also actually very pricey and not upfront about costs unlike Nord who are great value and you know upfront what you will be paying. Money well worth paying! Neringa gave me hope again and was so helpful.
I also loved how the attitude of the consultants at Nord is far superior to those I have experienced in the UK, who are invariably overprivileged public school educated and who are disinterested in helping people. Nord consultants really take pride in their work and want you to have improved mobility and are genuinely pleased for their patients when their lives improve post op. I appreciated the time Robertinas gave me to talk over my concerns before and after the operation.
I want to also praise the fantastic ward nurses who looked after me when I stayed for 2 days after my op. Shout out to Vita who has a lovely caring nature and also the nurse who looked after me on my first day there - I can't remember her name as I was quite dopey with the amazing painkilling drugs I was given. But I felt very cared for by these two! The room I stayed in was great with a comfy bed and ensuite and the food was very good and healthy with options you can choose. Finally Kaunas is a relaxing yet interesting place to visit with lots of cafes and restaurants that serve excellent food at a reasonable cost. I am looking forward to returning so that I can have physio there.

Over and above expectations

From the very first email requesting information until the Nordorthopaedics driver dropped me off back at Kaunas Airport after 10 days the care, consideration and support that I received was exceptional.
Yes this is a business but it works! Everything that you could possibly need while in Lithuania and under the care of Nordorthopaedics has already been thought of. No question goes unanswered and everything is explained so clearly that I felt constantly reassured. At no point did I feel (as I had done in the UK private sector) that this was only about the money. Everyone involved from the administration staff, surgeon, anaesthetist, nursing staff, drivers and last but by no means least the physiotherapists were professional, informative, knowledgeable and kind.
They all play their part in making sure your needs are met but on a personal level. I learned so much in particular from the amazing physio team, listen and learn from them if you have surgery at Nord, they know what they are talking about! I would highly recommend Nordorthopaedics without hesitation.

My TKR operation 13 weeks post op.

My TKR operation was 13 weeks ago now. I’m extremely happy with the outcome.
The Nord was recommended to me by someone I met by chance last year on holiday. She saw me hobbling with a walking stick and shared her experiences of the Nord with me. I was skeptical at first. But after doing my own research ( I couldn’t find any negative reviews), rather than wait for three years for the NHS here in Wales, I went ahead.
Like other reviews, the treatment I received there - pre- op tests, surgery and rehabilitation really impressed me. A special thanks to Laimonas and Matas from the physio team, I diligently followed the physio programme provided on my return - exercises at home, in the pool and at the gym.
I can now bend my knee joint well over 120 degrees, walk up and down stairs with alternate legs, and regularly cycle several km on a static bike. If I push it too much, the knee stiffens and becomes a bit painful, but the ice pack provided really helps with that. It’s still mildly painful first thing in the morning, or if I’ve sat in one place for too long, but for much of the day I’m pain free.
I’m hoping I’ll be ready for my second TKR by October.
Many thanks Nordorthopaedics. If you are wondering whether to go there for a TKR, I would certainly recommend them.
