Helpful and Considerate

They helped and knew what they were doing from the beginning. Good explanations throughout. Always kept upto date. Affordable price plans and an understanding, polite, considerate customer service on the phone. Being self employed this helped massively. I'm still on the road driving with their help.

Written on behalf of my partner:
"I highly recommend David Houldcroft representing Laywer who has a vast amount of experience and expertise dealing with motoring offences! He worked hard on my case and prevented me from recieving a disqualification; which am so grateful for. David was excellent at representing me, providing sound advise on my case and leaving no stone unturned given clear mistakes and unjust treatment I suffered from the police and CPS.
David successfully managed to get the CPS to drop the urine drink driving which the police had obtained incorrectly. Instead I pleaded guilty to careless driving with 4 points and a fine, but thanks to David it means I do no lose my licence"

A Disastrous Experience with National Motoring Lawyers

I recently sought the services of National Motoring Lawyers for a legal matter, and I regret to say that the entire experience was an absolute nightmare. I would strongly caution anyone against using their services. Throughout the entire process, I encountered a multitude of issues that left me not only frustrated but also deeply dissatisfied.
To begin with, I explicitly communicated to Ms. Laura Heywood via email and phone conversation on 23/04/2023 that I was paying £165 for the CCTV footage, which was crucial in determining the viability of my case. However, despite my clear instructions, I found myself continuously chasing National Motoring Lawyers for the footage. They claimed to have written to the police and were awaiting a response, but as the days drew closer to my hearing on 27/06/2023, I had received no such footage. Consequently, I made the difficult decision to represent myself and plead guilty. Astonishingly, the lawyers then informed me that I had an outstanding balance of £495, as if their sole focus was extracting more money from me. To add insult to injury, today I received a letter from a debt recovery company, Debtco One Ltd acting on behalf of National Motoring Lawyers demanding payment of £810.75 within five days.
To put it succinctly, National Motoring Lawyers failed to provide the CCTV footage that I had paid £165 for. I felt deceived from the very beginning, and I was forced to act swiftly and plead guilty on my own accord. It became apparent that their primary concern was to keep me subscribed to their services, leading to a costly trial where the outcome would likely still be a guilty plea. Their actions reeked of greed and a complete disregard for their clients' financial well-being.
I am now taking the necessary steps to report National Motoring Lawyers to the Legal Ombudsman, as well as to all available platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and search engines. It is essential for others to be aware of my horrendous experience with this firm.
In conclusion, my encounter with National Motoring Lawyers can only be described as a complete nightmare. I strongly urge anyone considering their services to think twice. Spare yourself the headache and seek out a solicitor who genuinely cares about their clients, while also demonstrating competence and professionalism. It is perplexing to me how they have managed to accumulate positive reviews, as I have spoken with another former client who shared a similar unfortunate experience. Trust me when I say that you will thank yourself later if you choose to avoid National Motoring Lawyers altogether.

We note you instructed the firm to deal with a not guilty plea at court on 27/06/23.

Emergency work was carried out including request for the police to retain CCTV on 24/04/23.

It was made clear in our welcome pack and our email 05/05/23 that we give full advice from around 6 weeks after the first hearing and that ‘video footage and additional evidence is not routinely released until after the first hearing..’

Accordingly we do not accept any suggestion you were promised the video footage before the first hearing.

You decided not to have representation on 19/06/23. Our website makes clear the £165 preparation fee is discounted from £705 on the basis we deal with two hearings. Accordingly you were sent an invoice for the balance of the standard preparation fee.

We will now take this opportunity to explain how potential clients can have every confidence when instructing this firm.

The SRA has approved our website as complying with the Law Society costs transparency rules. This means clients can be assured they are receiving reasonable costs information.

The firm is regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (‘SRA’) and the about us page on our website contains a link to the law society website to check we are a regulated firm of solicitors.

There is a contact page for the SRA on their website so potential clients can make contact to confirm our website has been approved.

There is also an SRA badge/ logo on the fees page of our website which links to the Solicitors Regulation Authority to confirm we are regulated for additional reassurance to potential clients.

TrustPilot has a verification process which identifies and removes fake reviews. More information about this can be found on the TrustPilot website. Accordingly potential clients can have confidence our 5 star reviews are genuine.

We are the one of the very few, if not the only solicitors in the country dealing in drink driving related cases and nothing else with around 7000 cases since 2009.

We charge a fraction of the fees of other motoring lawyers as we believe in providing a service for all budgets not just VIP clients.

We wish you well for the future and hope to hear from you soon about your review so we can resolve your issues.

On the whole, positive.

If you can get David Houldcroft to represent you in court through NML, you should. I found him to be professional, experienced, compassionate and willing to do what was necessary to obtain the best outcome for me and my circumstances. If you’re worried about attending court for the first time, I can promise you that David Houldcroft, for one, will meet with you in court and help you understand the legal ramifications and work out the best outcome to suit your needs. Not cheap, but certainly worth it. Thanks.

I highly recommend NML

I highly recommend NML. I anticipated losing my licence due to a driving offence and NML with their skills and expertise managed to salvage my licence which would have been extremely detrimental to me due to the fact I need to do a lot of driving for my job.

NML know what they are doing

NML know what they are doing. They were very clear about possible defence arguments, next steps in building a case, clear about prosecution arguments. Although it feels like money is often being asked for, the outcome was perfect (case dismissed 2 days before trial). My case was unusual in that it has gone on for almost 2 years. I can’t express the relief now that it is over and with a positive outcome.

Very poor work, hidden costs, fraudulent statements of client balances

Instructed this firm and initially spoke to a qualified solicitor. We then had invoice after invoice with zero contact. The solicitor was changed without request, and more money was charged. Didn't know which plea to make or even what to expect on the day. The admin center were woeful, they couldn't be bothered to send basic prepack information about the day of the trial despite many calls and emails. The evening before the hearing after several weeks of chasing, there was a brief call with options. Then on the date of the hearing, the solicitor didn't know what was going on, and mitigation entered just wasn't of a standard you would expect from a solicitor. The length of the ban and fine was exactly the same as being unrepresented. The days following the hearing, additional invoices demanding more unknown payments within 7 days were made. Importantly the statement sent, with what was paid so far, fraudulently did not include a payments already sent, which was more than the "outstanding" balance. They also say if you don't enter a not guilty plea, you need to pay more. However they won't give any advice until the day of the hearing so you know how to plea, leaving you open to more invoices that aren't confirmed at the outset. I doubt they even requested evidence from the police that they say they will.

The reviews of this firm, also called drink driving solicitors, are fake. I ignored the bad reviews because there were so many good ones. Don't make the same mistake. There are genuine firms to use, this isn't one of them.

We note you instructed the firm to deal with a not guilty plea at court on 24/05/23.

However you decided instead on the date of hearing to plead guilty.

Our website makes clear we operate different fees for guilty plea cases. Accordingly you were sent an invoice for the fees payable for guilty plea.

The SRA has also approved our website as complying with the Law Society costs transparency rules. This means clients can be assured they are receiving reasonable costs information.

You have suggested there was a lack of contact. This is not supported by the evidence on file.

We note that you received full advice from Ms Heywood by phone on 24/04/23.

We then sent you an email confirming our advice on the same date.

Full details about the process for not guilty plea was contained in our welcome pack sent to you on 27/04/23. This made it clear we give full advice on the merits of the case from around 6 weeks after the first hearing up until trial once we have reviewed all the evidence.

Further routine steps were undertaken to prepare the case for hearing including request for evidence and securing video footage from the police on 27/04/23.

Further updates were provided to yourself and your relative by Ms Heywood on 02/05/23 with confirmation of steps undertaken to prepare the case.

We acknowledged receipt of your statement on 09/05/23.

You received a further email from Ms Heywood with an update on 17/05/23.

You received further updates before the hearing with two emails on 22/05/23 concerning the advocate lawyer and an email from Ms Heywood on 23/05/23 with further information about the arrangements for attending court.

We will now take this opportunity to explain how potential clients can be assured our reviews are not ‘fake’ and can have every confidence when instructing this firm.

Pleaded guilty

Pleaded guilty.

May come across strange as I am writing a review on a guilty plea for a organisation that works on defending a not guilty plea.

I failed to supply breath at station, I had many of factors working in my favour to defend the case and get it thrown out which Gary highlighted to me but I simply couldn’t afford to move forward.

Had jay lamosa turn up in court. I was looking at a 2 year ban and a heavy fine.

He took notes and worked with the prosecution and came back to me saying they are lowering the ban and fine.

In the court jay was knowledgeable in this area highlighting to the bench the law on this topic which the bench did not know the answers but jay did.

He is a man that specialises in this are along with the firm. If I could have tried to defend it I would have but couldn’t afford it.

So glad I payed for this firm at a price where I’ll be back on the road in 9months, which failing to provide breath is quite difficult to get.

Happy with service of firm, got the result I was wanting.
12 month ban with course to take off 13 weeks
£600 fine which I pay 50 month to court.

In summary; don’t just turn up to court and accept what they will throw at you, get the right people involved and even if times are difficult the firm will assist in all ways possible.

Thanks all
MS

What a great team.

I was facing a driving ban and possible Community Order but between David Houldcroft, Nicki and Sandra Cooper I ended up with points and a fine which meant keeping the use of my licence and car for work. This team are magic and I am so happy I went to NML for assistance with this matter. Given the circumstances this was by far the most positive possible outcome and I am so grateful to them. For those doubters this is a very real review from a very real person.

I Won My Case!

I cannot thank Mr Philip Lucas and indeed, the whole team at NML enough, for assisting me with my case.

They were able to have the charges against me dismissed.

Losing my licence would have been a significant problem for me as I need to be able to drive to do my job and indeed, my whole career could have been at stake.

Would highly recommend.

NML ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

After finding myself in a situation I’ve never experienced before National Motoring Lawyers took on my case when no one else would.

Sandra Cooper a very talented lawyer took her time with taking all my details I had to share and quickly explained my defence. I was assigned a case handler Paul who was always ready to answer any of my questions thought the entire process.

I had two hearings.

The first hearing I received a terrible lawyer to represent me. He attempted to make me sign my name against potential incriminating statements that I never said. I contacted my case handlers at NML to express my concerns with the representative they provided me and they quickly got on the phone with him. Sorted out the issue immediately. Which I truly appreciate.

(P.S NML use third party lawyers for bronze level payment. The cheapest representation. So I’ll still give 5 stars to NML)

During my second hearing, I received a much better representative. (An older Irish gentleman) He was well spoken, knowledgeable and personable with myself and the judges. He quickly built a report with the judges and prosecution.

We followed our game plan provided by NML case handlers Paul and Sandra.

As planned we won the case as the judges dropped the charges deeming the evidence provided by the CPS insufficient.

I couldn’t thank NML any more!

Really gave me a second chance.

(Very affordable in comparison to other law firms)
