We attended a murder 57 evening at Hunton Park hotel. I can only describe it as an absolute mess.
Firstly the room was brightly lit.
A lot of people attending had dressed in 1920’s fancy dress, but the whole thing suddenly came away from that era and became modern day???
Actors were shouting from both ends of the room, no consistency.
The food provided from Hunton Park was awful, makeral Starter was brown around the edges, main course of cod was completely over cooked and dry and the profiteroles was frozen! A dreadful evening from start to finish and such a shame as was my birthday evening ☹️

We had a great time . The actors were lovely and tried to engage everyone. The more interactive you are with them the better the experience . Once you get used to the app its easy to read the clues but the clues are posted in the room also if you dont have the app or you dont want to use phone. Would book another and will make sure to have questions at the ready

We went to the Manchester Cupids arrow murder on sat 21st Feb. We had a great night and even identified the murderer. Big shout out from Table 1 to Victoria who played Jean Little, she was fantastic, we couldn't stop laughing, she is a natural. Great fun
Great Xmas gift
I purchased this as a Xmas gift for my stepson and his partner. They thoroughly enjoyed their evening and stay at the Angel Hotel, Cardiff. They said they had lots of fun and that it was very entertaining with great acting. I'd like to try one myself, now!

Great night food was nice the service was good we were at the great Christmas mystery event at Brook Mollington hotel the actors were great and at the end of the night they went around the room talking to everyone really friendly people
Would definitely recommend Murder 57
Very poorly organised and delivered
Very poorly organised and delivered. Performers announced that the App which we had been advised to download, didn’t work. Nor did the microphones so they said they would shout. The evening became reminiscent of a screeching East Enders episode. Looking around, at least 80% of people had quickly lost interest.
The theme was supposedly “After the show party” with advised dress code for the audience of Black Tie and Ballgowns. It would have helped if the performers had recognised this, as, with one exception, others looked as though they simply had day to day casual clothing. A basic function room for the setting, a whiteboard to crowd around for clues, if so inclined, and an average meal and stay at an average hotel.Hunton Park Hotel.
murder 57 weekend wetherby
Came back last weekend for a murder 57 weekend murder mystery in Yorkshire. It was thoroughly enjoyable. The hotel and staff were very attentive and efficient, the grounds of this hotel (outside Wetherby) were fantastic. The two evenings were very entertaining the actors great and the whole experience memorable. The food was very good and when you think this was an entertainment on top of a 4 star hotel for a 2 days stay this was good value.
We have been to a fair number of murder 57 evening events around Bedfordshire, Essex and Hertfordshire and have always had an entertaining evening. The hotels may vary but were always at least fair to good.
A Truly memorable experience
Me and my partner attended the Diplomats event at Warbook Heritage House! We had an incredible time; it's not cheap but certainly worthwhile as it's very memorable.
The hotel and the food provided were great. The actual event was well orchestrated and we had an amazing set of actors that really enhanced the experience. I was impressed with all their character portrayals. It was easy to use the app to review clues/evidence during the event. We also had the pleasure to meet some amazing similarly minded people that hopefully we will remain in contact with long term. We are already eagerly thinking about what event to do next.
Cardboard cut out’s would have acted better!!!
I had bought this experience as a gift for my nephews 50th birthday and hoped for an enjoyable evening. I also wanted to introduce him to the world of ‘murder mystery.’
However, after the experience at the Norton House Hotel, my nephew never wants to attend another ‘murder mystery!’
The actors were more like poor am-dram than professional and the thought that a murder was about to happen made me think the entire cast could be wiped out with little interruption to the evening. I had to ask the organiser to ask the actors to speak up, as most of us at the table couldn’t hear a thing! Most of the cast had their phones up at their faces, for them to read their lines, which they often fluffed. It appeared that Murder57 had just picked several random people off the street and offered them fifty quid to try and act for a couple of hours. The meal was lovely, but keep so-called acting at home! Avoid at all costs!!!
Lovely evening. Good value
By nature, I’m a sceptical, slightly miserable old git—always chasing value for money and rarely satisfied with what I’ve got.
So, when my wife’s 50th birthday was on the horizon, I was really scratching my head. We don’t need anything, we’ve got plenty of “stuff,” and honestly, the only thing left that made sense was an experience. Something we’d actually remember.
I ended up booking us a night away with a murder mystery evening.
Now, to be fair—the hotel (Stratford Manor) was bang average. Perfectly fine, nothing to rave about, but that wasn’t the main event anyway. The murder mystery, though, was fantastic. The cast were brilliant—properly talented actors who brought the whole story to life—and the atmosphere made it all feel really special.
I won’t spoil the plot, but it turned into one of those nights that sticks with you. We laughed, we got caught up in the drama, and we came away talking about it the whole drive home.
All in all, it was absolutely worth it—one of those rare times where this cynical git can say it was money very well spent
Third time going now
Third time going now. Absolutely amazing actors and stories. Will definitely be back!!
Overpriced event
Overpriced event,
The event itself was ok. However, the hotel was a shamble and a two star and not three star hotel.
There was also confusion with Murder 57 and the hotel with their afternoon tea 🍵 offer. We booked our afternoon tea on the day we arrived (9th August). When we got there we were told, it was booked for Sun 10th August for 4pm. We check out at 11am so how does this make sense?
Luckily, we asked the staff if they can do our original date and they did.
The whole experience felt like a money grabbing event.
Personally, I would never use Murder 57 (let’s make lots of money) ever again. The price is simply not worth it. It was overpriced, basic hotel and basic afternoon tea.
✨ An evening of intrigue, elegance and fun
We enjoyed a fun Murder Mystery night with the talented Murder 57 drama team, set in an opulent venue and paired with a sumptuous 3-course fine dining experience.
As the plot was exposed (between courses), we mingled, shared clues, and uncovered motives – all while making new friends and soaking up the glamour.
The night ended just as all good mysteries should… with plenty of dancing and unforgettable memories. 💃🕵️♀️
Fantastic nights the Elmbank Hilton Hotel in…
Just back from Elmbank Hilton Hotel in York. What a fabulous night. Great venue, very well organised by Murder 57 and the hotel. It was a 1920's theme and nearly everyone made a fantastic effort of dressing in period, even the gentlemen too and joining the actors in characters. I didn't guess the murderer but, didn't mind as I really enjoyed the event and the great hotel. The actors were funny and great too. Thank you Murder 57.
Fantastic night celebrating friends…
Fantastic night celebrating friends birthdays, location, food and acting highly praised. Everyone enjoyed themselves and had a great time working through the clues....definitely recommend the one in Eversley

Cancelled by Murder 57 and left out of pocket.
Booked a night in late March which my partner and I were very looking forward to. Arranged a day off work as I was due to work on the Saturday following the murder mystery evening. I also booked a suite at the hotel for the Friday and Saturday night on an advance purchase rate.
Unfortunately about 3 weeks before the event I was contacted by Murder 57 to advise they didn’t have the required numbers for the event to go ahead. I was offered a switch to a different venue and date or a refund. I took the refund but have still had to come to the hotel as spent quite a considerable amount on the accommodation which can’t be refunded.
I can’t comment on the quality of the murder mystery they provide itself but only on the fact that I have been badly let down by the cancellation. I would strongly advise to avoid this company as they don’t seem to be reliable.
Stay away under all circumstances
Do not understand any circumstances think about acting for this company.I received an email from them after being with them for quite a while saying my acting was "not up to par" and I needed to improve my performance. Then I have very recently had false allegations about making "racially offensive " comments while in character.I am still waiting for their response to find out what I allegedly said. Please avoid

Absolutely wonderful night
Absolutely wonderful night; so much fun. From the initial booking where the office staff were very accommodating when I stupidly booked wrong date to the night itself; from arrival, to end was brilliant and very well organised/ smoothly run - all the actors were great and the food was lovely. I would highly recommend and definitely reattend ( with different story line of course) thanks again.

Awful
My wife and I had this experience bought as a gift for Christmas and hoped for an enjoyable evening, how wrong could it get. The car park of the venue was in total darkness making it unsafe from the beginning, we went to reception and were directed to wait in a room until the murder 57 people came to escort us to the event room, they never came so we had to find it ourselves. The room was like an old conference room with tables set out around it, no one explained that a small notice outside the room told you which table to sit at. The room was cold, noisey, dark and uninviting and the staff did nothing to explain the structure of the event. The actors were more like poor am-dram than professional and the thought that a murder was about to happen made me think the entire cast could be wiped out with little interruption to the evening. The meal was supposed to be a set menu served at eight o’clock but by eight twenty no food had arrived and on questioning a staff member it was apparent that orders were being taken and that was down to the murder 57 crew being lacking. Furthermore no one ever mentioned general housekeeping rules. The event was an absolute shambles and we decided to leave at eight thirty. The only reason they get one star ratings is that a no star rating isn’t an option. Avoid at all costs!!!!

I'm out of pocket because THEY couldnt get enough people
Booked an event for late February, booked hotel rooms (x2) too. Event cancelled by Murder57 because they could not attract the desired number of people and I am now unable to cancel the hotel rooms.
So I am out of pocket to the tune of £178 because Murder57 could not get enough people to attend their event and their T's & C's are their excuse.
(40th birthday present too!)
