Title: Wrong Items, Mislabeled Slip, and Missing Dress – Still No Resolution
Review:
I really wanted to love my ModCloth order, but this experience has been extremely disappointing.
• One of the dresses I ordered was mislabeled on the packing slip as a completely different item (“Contrast Puff Sleeve Scoopneck Dress”), even though I never ordered that.
• Instead of my full order, I was sent a duplicate of the Into the Secret Garden Dress I already had.
• The dress I was most excited for (Timeless Poise Sparkle Dress – Eclipse Noir) was marked “delivered” by UPS but never actually arrived.
I’ve contacted customer service, but they only respond by email, which is very slow and inadequate. I’ve followed their instructions and submitted photos through their return portal, but the system even tried to generate a return for the wrong dress.
At this point, I want a proper resolution:
👉 Either send me the Timeless Poise Sparkle Dress I ordered before Christmas,
👉 Or issue me a full refund including shipping fees.
Until this is resolved, I cannot recommend shopping here. The mistakes, poor communication, and lack of live support have left me frustrated and disappointed.
Absolutely AWFUL company
Absolutely AWFUL company, AWFUL customer service, very scammy. They claim 2 of my items were labeled as final sale on my order confirmation, but I have no order confirmation labeling them as final sale and had no idea they were final sale when I purchased them. They were not clearly labeled and were not even "that" on sale, I think they were slightly discounted but not clearance level or anything. They are hideous dressed and now I'm stuck with $80 worth of dresses too awful to wear. I guess I will dump them in the donation bin and never order from this shady company again.

I am writing to inquire about the status of my recent order, MODC, placed on Friday, May 9th. While most of the items in the order have already shipped, the "Instant Energy Faux-Wrap Dress" has not yet. This dress is the item I particularly need for my graduation.
I am concerned about the delivery timeline because I will be flying out on Friday, May 23rd. The rest of my order is scheduled to arrive on May 20th, leaving little time to receive the dress if it ships separately to my current address.
Could you please provide an update on when the dress is expected to ship? Additionally, I would like to know if it's possible to change the shipping address for the dress to my daughter's address in Alexandria, Virginia, as I will be there for the graduation.

I've been a ModCloth customer for more than 10 years, and know that they're hit or miss. My problem now is that an order has gone missing, and while I've tried to contact the company by phone, chat, e-mail, Instagram, and Facebook, I cannot get a person. I have repeatedly tried to get. someone to find the missing item, replace it, or refund my money. Keeping my money without sending the ordered item is theft.
Customer care is always away on a holiday
I ordered a swimsuit a few weeks ago and have been trying to initiate a return. However they never updated the online order to fulfilled so I can't return it. When I email, call or try and chat with them it says they are always closed for a holiday, even during posted business hours. I'm honestly surprised I even got the package of apparently they have zero customer service now. Steer clear
Has Become Horrible
After not having shopped at Modcloth since late November 2022 (when things went smoothly), I placed an order for a sweater on 1/31/25. When it was 2/11/25 and my order still hadn't shipped, I reached out to Modcloth through the chat function on their website. I was told that my order would ship, from China (which had never been the case and which makes the entire process lengthier, riskier and more expensive for the customer), in the next few weeks.
I reached out again on 2/25/25. I was told basically the same thing, but I was also offered a refund of the shipping charges ($12.95), to be processed after the order shipped. I accepted this offer.
I finally received my order on 3/11/25 (after it shipped earlier in March, possibly 3/4). I have, however, not received the refund I was promised. I reached out, through the chat feature again, about it on 3/25/25, but no one is responding as "[they] are away," all the time. I don't know if this means they do not actually have chat support any longer, or if the company is going out of business after several years of suspect business practices. Either way, I would like my refund asap, so I have left a complaint on BBB as a last ditch effort.

I received two items (one was extremely poor quality) and I have been trying to return them and getting ahold of customer service has been near impossible. Everything from their chat saying they are on "holiday", to their phone line being down for "maintenance" to not answering emails...it's been such a headache and the quality of products has dipped so much that I don't know if I'm going to order from them again. Save your money--go to Unique Vintage instead.

I have purchased from ModCloth since the owner started this business selling vintage clothing. I have been pretty satisfied with the clothing and shoes that I have bought. But I have purchased items from Feb 18 and 19 that I have to receive as of today, March 6th. Today has been my second time calling to inquire as to the status of these items and the representative said they are working on orders from Feb 6th. I find this so unacceptable but the pieces I ordered I fell in love with so I am not canceling this order. But I will say that her abruptness in her response to me was rude and that with the month delay in their orders has left me deciding to never order from them again. There is Unique Vintage, Modern Millie, Retrolicious and many more to order quality vintage style clothing. Goodbye to ModCloth.

Sizing Issues + Ridiculous Returns = No Thanks!
My love for vintage-style dresses started with ModCloth when I discovered them about 10 years ago. I always got tons of compliments everywhere I went on their unique pieces.
However, my recent purchase was a huge disappointment. I’m a solid size S, and I quickly realized that much of ModCloth’s own brand runs massive—too wide, too long. Sizing is unpredictable, so you never really know what you’re going to get. I had to return everything.
And that’s when I found out about their unfair return policy, which feels like a penalty for simply trying on clothes. They charge a return processing fee per item, not per order. For a clothing store—where returns are inevitable—that’s a ripoff! I’ve never seen such a ridiculous return policy before. This doesn’t reduce returns—it pushes customers away. It feels like they’re punishing shoppers for not fitting into their outfits, which is even more frustrating when their sizing is already so inconsistent.
I won’t be coming back unless they rethink their return policy.
I wish I had read the reviews before ordering—now, all the 1-star reviews don’t surprise me!

Why can’t I leave 0 stars? They canceled half of my order because they oversold (so basically, because their website is shit), while reassuring me that the other half of my order would still ship. That was 10 days ago and I’ve heard nothing since.
Their communication is abysmal. Considering what they charge, I shouldn’t have to track them down

I'm a long-time customer and now DONE with Modcloth. I ordered two sweaters recently. They were shipped from CHINA, and the quality was so bad. Piling right after one wash and the material is cheap fabric. I paid 60 bucks for one of the sweaters and it isn't worth 20 bucks. I left an honest review about the quality and Modcloth removed my review. That's dishonest. That's censorship. I'm done.
Trash treatment of long time (and all) customers
They have, yet again, cancelled sale items from my order "due to stock issues" but of course I am welcome to re-order the items at three times the price and pay far too much for shipping again, because the items ARE NOT OUT OF STOCK. This is the third time they've done this, and beyond that the quality is way down and prices are way up. Three strikes and you're out. This used to be a fun place to get vintage styles, now it's just awful all around. Never going back, I suggest everyone avoid them. Nothing on their site is worth dealing with them or overpaying for.

Personally I think it’s ridiculous when I rang costumer services their phone number .when i rang they just asked me for my name then they stop talking . I payed for expedited shipping . I ordered my dress on the 16 of October and it hasn’t been even shipped yet which know is the 23 . Which I have payed for fast shipping so I presumed things be a lot quicker .

I would agree with every single review for this company. I had been ordering from ModCloth, off and on, for years. They had and still have some of the cutest clothes. The quality is hit or miss but, that being said, the ModCloth brand of clothes I have bought are good quality. In January of 2024 I placed an order and because of a warehouse move, I didn't receive my order till late April. I tried several times to cancel but was told they couldn't because the order had already gone to the warehouse so that on top of the move, I accepted. Turns out I bought "Final Sale" items so I wouldn't have been able to return anyway. I placed another order in July and out of the six items I ordered received one. A ModCloth brand button up and the other five items were coming from China. That's fine but when I went to look up the tracking, the shipping company got the order, accepted the order, it looked like it even shipped the order but then the next day returned it back to the warehouse. Chatted with MC customer rep and it sounds like the my order is going to get refunded. What. A. Hassle. Their shipping sucks, I wish they had better shipping costs, the quality is hit or miss but the clothes are cute and the customer service is responsive. Those are the only reasons why I gave them 2 stars. I'm not sure I've learned my lesson but for now, I'm staying away.

I have ordered from this company for over 8 years, receiving the cutest clothes. Never once an issue through December of 2023.
Then in April 2024 I placed a new order after finding some items in an advertised big sale (and yes I agree, their items have become more more diasspointing in style). After weeks of no update that it shipped I reached out to customer service. Which I had to repeatedly do after waiting several days when they said they would email an answer and never would. They would give me vague excuses. Ran into an issue with the warehouse. Warehouse identified the dress with the issue (which they still had for sale throughout all of this). They don't do backorders. They don't know if the other items will ship, not up to them. They don't know the issue. Everything's up to this warehouse that never answers anyone and you're not allowed to contact. After being given the run-around repeatedly for a month and reading reviews of other people not receiving their orders, I demanded it be cancelled and to have a refund. They said they have to send that cancellation request to the warehouse. They couldn't answer ne how long it would take to receive a refund or even if confirm if they would allow it to be cancelled. I finally had to state an exact date, time, and time zone i were to receive a refund confirmation by or I would report them to my financial institution, and literally within seconds of that message she magically said she could cancel it and i received an email confirming a full refund.
It is so sad what this once sought-after company has become.
