Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 64 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many individuals frequently complained about deeply unhelpful customer service experiences, long waiting times, and a complete lack of accountability or empathy from management teams when problems arose. Visitors also noted excessive price increases, unexpected extra charges on their bills, and completely unresolved issues regarding their hotel bookings or missing items. However, some customers also noted that certain staff members were exceptionally kind, welcoming, and provided prompt assistance during their visits. A few other reviewers genuinely enjoyed wonderfully clean rooms, fantastic accommodations, and pleasant hotel locations while staying at specific properties.

Great experience at the hotel except…overcharging my CC.

Great experience at the hotel except for their billing.
Be aware, as soon as you check-in be ready for incidental fees, each day, to be charged to your CC and the total amount of your bill overcharged. Never heard of this practice, charged my CC with the total bill rounded up to the highest even dollar amount. Spoke to their accounting department, the answer was, that’s the way our computer system works, within 5-10 days, overcharges will eventually drop-off. Never heard of this type of billing practice. Will avoid Marriott hotels from now on.

Even charged for Breakfast :-) !!!!

Never ever use the Marriott Group of hotels unless you want to be ripped off.

I booked the Marriott Worsley Park for March 23rd and caught Covid.

They refused to refund - understandable- but even refused a credit for a future stay.

Even charged me for a breakfast they knew I would not be eating.

Customer (Dis) Service showed no empathy at all.

Pathetic company without decency or morals.

Marriott Vacation Club - TOTAL REGRET

The purpose of my reviews today is to WARN everyone about Marriott Vacation Club! Remember that name Marriott Vacation Club, their salespeople and financial representatives are immoral and unethical. They don’t just say one little lie but instead lie about several things! Take us for example, we were promised the moon and the stars, but we ended up with debt and broken promises. Their salespeople sure do know how to sell you on these ridiculous timeshares by painting you a nice picture, with dream vacations and luxury accommodations. We will forever regret this timeshare purchase. We truly wish we could turn back time…trust us if we knew just exactly what we were getting into we would have NEVER signed any contract with Marriott! They lie, withhold information, it honestly just seems like they’ll say anything just to make you sign that dotted line and get that commission check.
We purchased 1500 points under the impression it could be used any time. We were NOT told that priority is given to those with timeshare weeks instead of points. So in 2 years, We were never able to book any location to our liking when our family was also vacationing. When I called about it, it was completely dismissed. And it took several phone calls before someone finally admitted that was the reason we couldn't reserve anything.

DO NOT TRUST YOUR BOOKING

My reserved and confirmed room got taken away from me because the hotel manager overbooked the hotel - DO NOT TRUST YOUR BOOKING. Besides that, he was also aggressive and treated guest poorly. I would recommend trying another hotel first before you book the Sheraton. Best, Anders from Denmark

Marriott is HORRIBLE

Marriott is HORRIBLE! Don’t get ripped off and fall for their timeshare scams. Purchasing a timeshare at Mountainside Marriott in Park City, Utah was one of the biggest mistakes we’ve ever made. These swindlers will say anything to get you locked into a timeshare but BEWARE it’s all a load of non-sense. They told us we were purchasing a “safe investment” that would increase in value overtime. That was a lie! They said we could make a profit by letting other people rent out our timeshare. That was a lie. One concern we had before purchasing was the ability to get it off our hands when we no longer wanted it. They flat out lied and said we could “easily” resell the timeshare back to Marriott. That too was another lie. Being able to book a vacation where you want to is nearly impossible unless you cough up extra money to them! Marriott is a well-known brand, but people need to know how tasteless and vile these guys are. They conveniently left out a lot of information when getting us to sign their timeshare contract. They NEVER mentioned their maintenance fees would increase and your children could inherit the debt!!! Don’t do business with Marriott, a disgrace of a company! They are crafty with words, with their ridiculous point system and they’ll trap you into their timeshare with legal loopholes! DO NOT TRUST MARRIOTT!!!

Dishonest

Agreed to attend a sales pitch for the vacation club but decided against singing up after reading bad reviews. I was promised 15k points to listen to the sales pitch but was never given the points. I have been completely ignored and ghosted by the Spanish sales team Beatriz and Alberto. Contacting Marriott doesn't help as they redirect me to Vacation Club and tell me to dial an international number. Don't waste your time with them and do your research before you sign up with vacation club

Marriott Vacations is such a well-known…

Marriott Vacations is such a well-known organization with what I THOUGHT was a good reputation. I wish I knew that wasn’t the case before I bought a timeshare from them. They are SNAKES! When my husband and I used our timeshare, we did not get the room we bought from Vistana. When we complained, no one was interested in helping us. Instead, they used that opportunity to make us upgrade our timeshare to get what we thought we already had. Apparently, Marriott bought Vistana and downgraded all the Vistana owners. Our salesman completely took advantage of the situation, promising us that an upgrade would open up our vacation experience to more destinations.
I was sick as a dog with a constant horrible cough when this was going on and excused myself because I was coughing so badly. The salesman used this time to tell my husband that I was “all set” on the current deal that was offered, which was NOT the case. By the time I came back, the financing was moving so quickly, and I didn’t understand that we were buying an upgraded timeshare. We were DUPED into this!

Disappointed,

Booked a free anniversary night. Walked into the room it smelled like a nasty dog kennel in fact the entire hotel smelled. We went to the check in desk and checked out. This is not the first time we were disappointed with Marriott recently but it is the last we canceled our rewards card they lost our business forever.

UNPROFESSIONAL MANAGMENT

I was offered a position at Town Suites Phoenix North/ By Marriott as a breakfast attendant. I was sent a offer letter and filled out paperwork for my background check. Paul the assistant manager told me to come on Wednesday 16.2022 at 5 am to set up the breakfast area. At 9.15 am Paul asked Monique ( Mo what I was doing there I said working. Paul told me the breakfast attendant position was giving to someone else. I don't get how a company can offer you a position with pay and then take it away. Such an unprofessional organization not someone I want to do business with

Had to change our room as there's a cockroach in our room, which is not expected when you pay hundreds of dollars for the brand. Staff reaction was quick though, offered compensation, so its a 3* all in all.

Won’t stay there again, ever!

I was a gold card holder until I stayed at a property so bad that it is embarrassing to claim the Marriott name. I contacted the front desk, attempted to contact the manager to no avail, called gold card services, called Marriott corporate. Nobody cared about the issues. The place was falling apart & had roaches the size of half dollars.

When I told the front desk about the roaches, she said “You’re not from around here are you?”. The garbage disposal was full of food from other guests & didn’t work so it stunk. The light fixtures were falling apart & there were bare wires showing. The lamp shades were crushed & torn. And for all this I paid $280!

This experience has prompted my to cancel my Bonvoy membership & never stay at a Marriott branded property again. Nobody wants to take responsibility for what happened at the property & that’s apparently how they want to run their business. Not on my dime they won’t.

A stain on the Marriott Name

I am so tired of the empty promises and deceit from Marriott. My salesman, Anthony was a master manipulator. He spoke elegantly about the tax advantage of a timeshare, which ended up being non-existent. He described certain features and amenities as “money-savers” and had data to back up his claims. Although, who knows where this data came from or how accurate the numbers are, I’m certain they are made up. Anthony was very good at exploiting the fear of missing out by saying he was offering us a great deal that would never be available again. I should have known it was a red flag that he changed the subject when I asked about options to sell the timeshare back to Marriott. He also made sure not to mention the fact that per Florida law, we had 10 days to cancel the contract.

Now I am forced to deal with rampant inflation, difficulty making reservations, and crippling financial hardship. It is clear to me that Marriott is not the “solid company” Anthony described, nor is it the brand name it once was.

Don’t let Marriott trick you in to…

Don’t let Marriott trick you in to becoming an owner like they did to my wife and I. We were lured in with a highly discounted offer for a 2-bedroom suite… but only if we went to a presentation. We were stuck there for 3+ hours with multiple sales reps hurling information and offers at as. They went through things so fast that we were barely processing all the information. We eventually told them that our family was waiting for us, and we left.

Apparently, the sales reps have no boundaries and will not take NO for an answer because a few hours later, we were being stalked at the pool. A salesman named Gregg specifically sought us out during our personal time to tell us he could offer bigger discounts than they already offered. As we were poolside with family, we had been drinking, which that salesman knew and took advantage of. We even told him we would not sign anything while intoxicated but he said that if we came back the next day, our deal was off the table. Looking back, that was clearly a lie.

We were lied to about a lot of details between the first and second presentation, such as: the interest rate we were TOLD is not the one that is in the contract, it is never “easy” to make reservations, the timeshare would be an investment, and Marriott will take it back if we didn’t want it. So, if you hear any of these things, you know you are being lied to!

Do not fall for Marriott’s schemes and…

Do not fall for Marriott’s schemes and plots. Their salespeople lie and act like they are befriending you just to take advantage and make a quick buck! My salesman even went as far as using the fact that he was Egyptian when he found out that I am originally from Jordan.

He used the fact that I was spending about $15,000 a year on vacations and said I’d pay FAR less with Marriott. That wasn’t true at all. I was told that for about $2,000 a year, I could vacation for 14 days. My salesman called over another man to explain the added benefits, like using the timeshare as an investment and renting out points to other people. Again, not true. When I asked for time to think about things, I was told I’d only be able to get the deal that was offered that day.

I ended up with 4,000 points, which is not even enough for 2 nights, let alone the 14 I was promised! I was pressured into this timeshare without time to think about it or do my own research. Don’t let this happen to you too. If we all stop being victims, eventually they will go out of business!

Moxy branches are a disgrace

Their Moxy branches have incompetent and low level people who do not understand any customer service. They should not be working in hotels at all. It is a disgrace to pick people who seemingly are from the streets with no education on hospitality. Avoid the Heathrow/Bath Road one and watch out for reception staff like Ana who came into rooms without consent and lockers being emptied of your belongings on the ground floor. Speaking to Marriott on this and they argued instead of fixed their staff issue. They tried to bribe me instead but they can actually be sued for their disgusting behaviour.

Doing business with Marriott Vacation…

Doing business with Marriott Vacation Club has been one of the worst experiences we have ever had. Marriott lured us in with a low-cost mini vacation with the expectation of us attending a timeshare presentation in return. After attending a total of four presentations, we bought a vacation package at the final one in St. Thomas. Their staff told us they would only take an hour of our vacation; however, it was closer to six hours!
The sales representatives will lie to your face and mislead you in to making a purchase. We were told that buying a timeshare meant that we would have rental income and have something to pass down to future generations. The truth is that people sell timeshares on eBay for $1 so there is no way that we could ever make a dime by renting our unit. It is true that the timeshare will be left to our heirs, but it was never disclosed that they had to pay the high maintenance fees that accompany the ownership. Had we known that this timeshare wasn’t the “investment” that was promised, we would never have “signed on the dotted line”.
Adding insult to injury, customer service has been atrocious. Our salesman was always difficult to contact and was of little help when we asked to delay the closing of our contract. We purchased just before COVID and were hesitant, but they offered us a 30-day cancellation period, then we requested a 90-day extension which they granted, but when we finally decided to cancel, they said we missed the deadline by 3 days because they manipulated the deadline!
