The time my father spent in studley…

The time my father spent in studley rose was less than a year. He deteriated in health rapidly, lost weight arms were badly bruised. Wasn't communicating lost his smile. Left there to be care for in hospital due to dehydration and aspirated pneumonia. Studley Rose isn't all it seems.

Studley Rose, Warwickshire.

What a transformation with my uncle in just two weeks at Studley Rose. After leaving hospital at rock bottom, following 8 months of numerous hospital admissions, he is back to his former self and after two weeks respite care he likes it so much he's decided to stay as a permenant resident.

Studley Rose is purpose-built so it is modern, clean and warm. The en-suite rooms are tastefully decorated with well-made high quality fixtures and fittings. There are a number of communal seating areas and recreation rooms. There are activities on every day and residents are able to wander / wheel around as they please in a safe environment.

My uncle is very much enjoying the food and, in addition to three meals a day, there are snacks and drinks freely available all day. Visitors can also help themselves to free drinks, which is a nice touch.

The thing that really makes Studley Rose stand out though is Paul and the team. Friendly, caring, patient, empathetic, nothing is too much trouble.

My Mom only stayed at Austin rose care…

My Mom only stayed at Austin rose care home, Alvechurch Road, in April this year for 3 days & by the 3rd she was at End of life. Staff did not read the care plan that the hospital had put in place for her, which they admitted to & because of this she only drank 700ml of fluids in the 3 days instead of 1000ml per Day as instructed to do so by the hospital. My mom as they knew was prone to UTI's & had had many. They did not check on my mom every half hour as they said they did with every resident. I know this because on that fateful day they called 999 my moms Sat's & blood pressure was extremely low. Her stats on the 2nd day was 73% & they did not send her back to hospital (RED FLAG)???? My mom was bedbound & had dementia. She was in good health until she arrived there. They did not document any notes for her on Sunday, so we never found out what happened on that fateful sunday afternoon. We requested a copy of my moms notes and its contents were absolutely shocking and staff had not documented as they should of. Not documented then it did Not happen. HOW DO THEY GET AWAY WITH THAT???? Had a meeting with them & no answers to our findings, just that they were sorry and a new measure has been put in place as a result of my moms death. They neglected her & we believe causation also took place. Reported to CQC, an Inspector was making a visit. After mom died we had a meeting with nurses & carers. One carer said they did NOT read mom's Careplan as they don't get time as it's manic there on the first floor & neither do they check on patients there every half hour, which is what they told my daughter the day mom went there. The manager Greg couldn't be bothered to attend the meeting & no apology for that from him.
