I had a very bad experience renting an apartment from Maarschalk Maakelaars, and especially Michael van der Velde.
We had to pay several months in advance, were never late on payments and kept the apartment clean, however, Michael accused us several times for growing and smoking marijuana despite multiple (unannounced) inspections where we had nothing to hide. These accusations came off as very rude and they never apologized for their fake accusations.
At the end of our rental period, due to a miscommunication in scheduling, both my roommate and I were unable to attend the final inspection. After a few weeks, we get to hear that several things needed to be repaired and renovated (which is actually false, we have photo evidence) which the owner would take care of. The issue here is that he charged insanely overinflated prices and tried to take all of our deposit for compensation. So make sure you are there for the final inspection!! 100% would recommend finding a different real estate agency!

We are two 23 year olds (of which our parents were guarantors) who rented from Micheal Van Der Velde for a year, at first everything seems normal but unfortunately it does't take long until when you need your bond back that his true colours prevail. His rudeness and evasiveness makes it near impossible to get straight answers from him. He very cleverly used our age or "status" as he likes to call it, to milk every bit of our bond, both of us have experience in renting in different parts of the world and we know how the system works, but the incompetence of this agency was baffling. We were happy to pay for minor damages that happened (normal wear and tear after a year) but with his manipulation over the landlord they boosted the charges tenfold, they didn't even send legitimate invoices, making up charges as they went along. Even with the mountain of evidence (photos and screenshots of conversations) that we sent him showing the amount of fabrication he was coming up with he would avoid answering you and completely deviate from the point. Even when our parents, whom were guarantors, Micheal Van Der Velde would completely ignore them until they had to harass him to finally get some closure. This was a major black stain on our stay in Amsterdam.

I do not write this out of spite, I just hope future tenants realise what they are dealing with when looking into this "agency" and thinking it all looks good from the outside.
