  1. Lighting Store

Written by the company

Founded in 1991 in Cambridge, Great Britain, Lumie’s been researching, designing and developing light therapy lamps for over 30 years. We even invented the world’s first-ever wake-up light back in 1992! With great expertise comes great responsibility, and we are on a global mission to empower you to tune into your natural rhythms for best-ever sleep, mood and energy. Light keeps your circadian rhythms on track so that your routines (i.e. when you eat, work, and sleep) are aligned. Without strong light cues, everything can go out of sync. Lumie light therapy lamps, such as wake-up lights and daylight lamps, help entrain your brain to the 24-hour light-dark cycle, especially when you’re stuck indoors with little exposure to natural light, or when mornings are dark and the days are short, like in the fall and winter.

Poor finish quality

I bought a luxe DAB clock as a gift. When the item was opened, the fabric base was very frayed and poorly finished. For such an expensive item, I would expect a much better quality of finish.
The recipient was otherwise happy with the functions of the clock so far but had it been a purchase for myself, I would be sending it back.

great for ADHD!

I have the lumie bodyclock shine 300. The first one we received was faulty however, customer service was quick to respond and we did get a replacement. It was strange as the first one the alarm would go off as the sun rose but then it would shut off almost straight away and start again. Anyway I would still give it 5 stars as the now working clock is excellent. So much so we bought another to have at nan and grandads house. We bought the clock to help with our ADHD daughter and her nighttime routine and she loves it. She loves the thunderstorm noises and the light is a lovely tone to not aggrevate already sensory sensitivity. The sunrise to tropical birds is a delight in a morning. Sometimes our daughter watches the clock rise. I also have ADHD and find the clock relaxing to fall asleep to and I cannot stand bright lights so this is great. Our daughter was asking for her light when she slept at her grandparents house - hence why we bought another. I fear we will have to take it on holidays now too! My only recommendation is that the radio should be DAB for the price of the alarm. No one is paying that price to then hang a piece of wire up to try and get a radio signal and it cheapens the product. But i'm not going to drop a star for it as i don't use the radio on it anyway. The sounds, sunset and sunrise are the most important parts of this alarm clock.

Im really disappointed that there isnt…

Im really disappointed that there isnt an app you can use to operate the alarm.
I bought the lumie glow and for the price I feel it should come with an app to use it. Unfortunately you also have to set it every single night and cant preset it to go off mon-fri. May send back as not overly impressed for the price.

Delivery Disappointed

I have not started to use my Lumie lamp yet. However, the company shipped the lamp, which was supposed to be a Christmas gift for my husband, in it's original box, whith the Lumie lamp clearly depicted on it. My husband happend to receive the box from the curier on the day it arrived. If I had known that, I would have arranged for a different mode of delivery and his Christmas gift would have been an actual surprise for him. I feel the company should take this scenario into consideration when they ship their product.

FANTASTIC Customer Service

I was given a Lumie Mini as a present from a friend, who is sadly deceased. I can't remember when. It stopped working so I emailed Lumie. They said it might be the power lead and would post one out to me. It arrived 2 days later and my Lumie Mini worked again. There was no charge! Thank you Lumie 😊

Lumie bodyclock Luxe 750DAB @ £230, worth £10 maybe less!

I purchased from amazon, and sent back after 8 hours, a Lumie bodyclock Luxe 750DAB, MRP £230. After dispensing with the words Bodyclock, 750and DAB since they are not really relevant, you are left with th word Luxe or "light". So thats £230 for an LED light that changes from orange to white variably as you rotate a knob. As far as the Radio does DAB must mean "Desperate And Bad", which it is. The word clock appears to refer an afterthought item, that is a very tiny LCD screen with light blue numbers on slightly darker blue background. It cannot be seen, even in the footprint of the frosted plastic dome spewing out 10,000 lumens of light, taking up 70% of the product real estate. The other 29.5% being a sort of fake black and white tweed cloth. Sorry, I forgot to mention the 40cm chrome rod that rises ungmajestically out the back of the orange dome purporting to be an antenna, but doesnt actually work. When the flood light finally turns off you have 2 options to see the alarm clock in the dark, (i) not at all, or (ii) so dim only a cat, fox or hedgehog (bless them) might see it. Apparently if you have really tiny fingers and few hours of product learning time, and keep the product long enough you can wake up (or go to bed) to a rising sun or sunset, all to the sound of crickets, lorries parking, waterfalls or other such noises that can be held on USB stick, biultin memory or bluetoothed over. If the sound of waterfall makes you have to get and go for a pee don't count on being able to see what the time is! £230 really!

Spark 100 - not worth it

Purchased 2 Lumie Sunrise Lamps - Spark 100 and Shine 300

Spark 100 is not worth it for its £100 price tag. Made of extremely cheap quality, fiddly buttons and user interface is terrible. It is difficult to set up alarms and sunset and I often have to look at the manual to see which of the same buttons I have to press multiple times to get it to work. Especially with the sunset, I am mainly playing guessing games every night as it varies each time what buttons work and what doesn’t to set it up. Furthermore, the light quality is not amazing - equivalent to a £15 lamp on amazon and only one option of sound - a beep which can be equally as annoying as an iPhone alarm. Hence it serves me no purpose as it is stressful to set up, the light is as strong/effective enough or the sound any different from my phone. I am genuinely confused on the hype for this particular model.

Shine 300 seems to be better - better user interface, although, still not the best. It has brighter light and nicer sounds to sleep and wake up to. Let’s see how this goes. This is the only reason my overall review score is 3/5.

Understandably the more expensive the model, the better the features will be. However, I can’t seem to fathom how the previous model can be so poorly designed and ineffective, especially for the price. Even as a basic model it should atleast be getting the basics on point. Please note that this model I have an issue with (Spark 100) still costs 100% more than the most basic model available - so it is really not that ‘basic’ which makes it more surprising.

Cheap, useless user interface.

I’ve had 2 Lumie bodyclocks over 10 years as I work night shift and find the SAD lighting really helpful. Having said that they are cheaply made and have an utterly awful user interface. Every time I want to reset the time I have to watch a YouTube video. The alarm will randomly go off - be it the middle of the day or middle of the night. How as a company have you not updated this interface?! It is cheap and wouldn’t look out of place in the early 2000’s. The concept works so well but the product line needs updating.

Poor quality - one failed within 48 hours!

First clock: Buttons stopped working after a while - became difficult to set every night

Second clock: Brought replacement, higher end (Bodyclock Shine 300). Brought a quality assured refurbished model direct from Lumie - Worked for only 1 night before failing.

Generally as well as being over priced for what they are the product are of pretty low build quality in my opinion and not made to last.

Product stops working after a few years…

Product stops working after a few years and no repair option offered, only '10 % if you buy a new one' so basically, keep on polluting the world and dumping plastic in the landfill, says Lumie, and keep on buying from us.. Well, as I said to you in the email, not great...

Horrible setting system

It's a great clock, but it's absolutely horrible to set, reset, or every time there’s daylight savings. This is by far the most complicated, less user-friendly system I’ve ever encountered. I’ve had it for a couple of years now, and I still can’t navigate it properly. I absolutely hate the setup.

Lumie Halo - great product, quick delivery

I purchased a Lumie Halo and I'm glad I did. It's an expensive SAD lamp, let's be honest it is. But a) it works and b) unlike other SAD lamps, it doesn't look like one. It's exceptionally designed and again, it works. This is what matters.

I opted for standard delivery (I did find delivery prices to be pricey) but it came pretty quickly anyway. I purchased the lamp on a Monday evening and received it on Wednesday. That's pretty quick!

Great product and good service. Thank you.

Great customer service

I can't really fault Lumie. I bought a product from them which turned out to not be quite right for my requirements (not a product fault, more a design characteristic). The item was delivered quickly, the terms of the generous 45-day trial were made clear before I purchased, and they honoured their side of the bargain by taking the product back within this window. It would have been better if the product had worked for me but that's not Lumie's fault.

Poor repair support

Long term user of the Iris 500 clock. Unfortunately the remote battery door has disintegrated in an unusual way. Informed by customer service that the company do not keep support for this older model; about 4 years old and working well otherwise. Only advice other than an apology was to give them money for a new model, no goodwill gesture at all. Poor gesture and sustainability.

Great product & fabulous customer service

I bought the Lumie Bodyclock Luxe 700FM last year.
Love it. It's wonderful to wake up with the lamp and radio on a workday. I also use the sleep function with the sounds as I have tinnitus, and it helps me drift off.
I was so upset when my husband knocked my lamp over and the lamp cover smashed. I was gutted and I immediately thought I would have to buy another. But husband looked into replacing it and found out you can send it to Lumie to fix. I sent it off, and sure enough was returned good as new for £30. Harmony at home restored!!

The only alarm and bedside lamp you will ever need...

My Lumie Body clock glow was delivered very swiftly.
The alarm itself is just wonderful. I do not use anything else. I love being woken up by the rising orange glow (and/or the sounds of birds - several sounds available).
It is powerful enough to provide lighting too in the evening. Really soothing to have the sunset set up too (orange glow that helps get you to sleep).
Highly recommend!
