Hi Pette/‘Alvin’,

Using another identity to pose as a new subscriber, in an attempt to gain a refund, isn’t a particularly original or sophisticated scam. Thankfully, our customer service agent became suspicious and had the presence of mind to check your IP address.

Despite your intentions, you were treated with professionalism and respect by our customer service team. Nobody was rude to you. You were, however, rightfully confronted about this. Caught in the lie, you switched gears, to reference our apparent ’30 day money back guarantee’ and a fabricated ‘terms of service’; all in a further bid to coerce our agent into giving you money. The strange mention of a fictional ’14 day trial’ in your above review is another example of this. When this tactic failed you became aggressive and sent a string of threatening emails demanding money. We noted, with some amusement, that you slipped up and used your real name; resulting in you quickly accessing your original account and changing your details to cover your tracks.

We have passed your information - both real and aliased - to our partners, and put in place measures to prevent you from using another name/email to try this again.

We are very proud of the support our team offer all licklibrary subscribers and customers who genuinely need help with the site. Those who find our service doesn’t meet their needs, are also always given full care and attention. It is this willingness to help which you have clearly sought to take advantage of. Despite the occasional bad actor, we will continue our commitment to give help and guidance to the guitarists who use our platform and are grateful for those who support everything we do.

I would like to thank you, Pette, for writing this review, drawing attention to yourself and your actions. This will also be added to our growing folder of communication we have collected from you.

We are sorry you have felt the need to give this 1 star review.

To address each of your points:

Access to your content has not been restricted or withheld. I can see, from the multiple emails - and your responses - that this has been explained to you and understood. Claiming that we are denying you access to content you have paid for, in exchange for your credit card details, is unfounded and false.

As you are well aware, the lesson content from Gi Plus has now moved to a new platform on Licklibrary.com. Again, I can see full and open communication with you on this. Far from restricting your access, your current subscription gives you an additional 750+ courses and over 2000 lessons, plus backing tracks - all at no extra cost to you! It is the reason the move to this new platform has been so well received by Gi Plus subscribers. The reason you are no longer seeing your content on the old platform is because it has moved, this action is not targeted at you, the platform simply no longer exists. This has been a long term process and you have been updated of the move consistently. There has also been no drop in your access during the transition from one platform to the next.

In order to set you up with a new account on licklibrary.com you have been asked to complete an account form. Again, I can see, full details, and guidance have given here. No additional payments have been requested, nor are they required (once again, we have correspondence between yourself and our team to support this).

You have not only outwardly refused to have a new account created for you, but been unable to explain your reasoning for this. As a result, our team have been unable to help you further. I also note that, as you yourself have chosen not to continue with your subscription, you have been offered a refund for the remaining term of your annual subscription fee. Your data is secure. And, as we have explained, Licklibrary and Gi are part of the same company - you are not giving your details to a 3rd party.

We of course would prefer that, along with the other Gi Plus members who are now enjoying all that additional guitar content, you would chose to continue your subscription with us, but a refund has been offered if you chose not too. We would consider this a more than reasonable outcome.

The opportunity to continue your subscription, is still open; giving you access to our full Classic Album series (which complements your favourite Tech Sessions perfectly) plus more additional content from those big name Gi Plus tutors, on top of your previous Gi Plus lessons and tracks - kinda seems worth the one or two minutes it takes to fill out an account creation form, wouldn’t you agree?

Hey Matt,

Thanks for the feedback. Yes, we know that price increases, whilst an inevitability, aren’t the most welcome news. This is why longer standing members such as yourself have been unaffected by previous increases and, even now, you are not renewing at the full membership fee.

We did send out an email, in August, to all our members affected by this increase.

Compared to many learning platforms out there, this is still great value and, with so much content and new courses/lessons every week, plus free individual coaching there are plenty of reasons to stay with us. The free 1-1 lessons are worth the monthly fee alone!

Regarding the older videos/video quality - one of the best things about Licklibrary is our archive of lessons from the past 20 years. But that also means that some of our original footage isn’t HD. We now film everything in 4K and have already begun the task of upscaling all our older lessons/courses to improve their resolution. As for TAB, we also have a solution for this in the pipeline too!

Hi Mister Hound. Firstly, thanks for purchasing! With each of the seven modes, there are indeed some scale patterns to learn. But, in each modes course, Danny goes on to add the theory and harmony, application and all the explanation you need to get the full flavour of your chosen mode into your playing. As you will see, the last section covers licks and ideas in the style of a famous player associated with the mode. A great deal of focus went into these courses to ensure they went beyond the stock approach of simply teaching scale patterns; giving you the chance to really get to grips with the character of the mode, and more importantly, how and when to use it. I would recommend watching the video a little further as the answers you want are likely to come later in the course. As with all our courses, help is always on hand too, so you can email us here too: playersupport@licklibrary.com and we can guide you through any elements of the course you need additional help with.

Hi Bernard, thanks for the feedback and also for signing up! And I am sorry that Licklibrary hasn't met your playing needs right away. Regarding the recommendations based on your 4 questions, you will see that your homepage features an ever changing selection of recommended lessons and courses based on your 4 answers. We also have Learning Paths to provide a curated and structured path through our most popular playing goals. The Hendrix course you are referring to is a trailer which plays on the homepage and changes weekly to highlight a variety of courses. As for the sweep picking course - you are still able to view all our content but you can filter every page by style, level etc. So if you don‘t have any interest in advanced techniques then you can filter to your tastes. We do have a lot of content so, in order to help you find what is right for you, we offer free 1-1 support, coaching and dedicated player support, alongside member updates to keep you informed of the latest weekly lessons and guides to get the most out of the site. I can see that you opted out of receiving these. I fully understand your feedback regarding the older videos; we were one of the first streaming sites in the world and as a consequence, the archives do contain videos from up to 20 years. However, all our footage is now filmed in 4K and has been HD for many years. We are also in the process of upscaling our older footage too. I would say that the older content do give you the chance to experience more lessons and often learn from tutors who are no longer with us. Re: an app - we are developing plans for this to aid accessibility. Our site is mobile responsive so works and optimises for all devices. We are continuously improving based on valued feedback so thank you for taking the time to write this review.
