Very disappointing start to the tenancy
Very disappointing start to the tenancy
I’ve been in the property for less than a month and have already had a very disappointing experience with the way repairs are being handled.
The kitchen tap has now been broken for over two weeks. Every time I use it, it floods water across the kitchen worktop, and the tap becomes extremely hot. I’ve actually been burning my hand having to push it down, even when using a tea towel.
A plumber has already attended and told me that it was a quick job and that they were happy to repair it there and then. However, they were unable to do so without approval. That was over two weeks ago, and I am still waiting for the repair to be authorised and completed.
I have emailed and called numerous times to chase this, yet I have received little to no communication or meaningful update. For something that presents both a potential water-damage issue and a genuine health and safety concern, I would expect it to be dealt with far more promptly.
Not a great start to the tenancy, and I would have expected much better communication and a more proactive approach to dealing with what should be a relatively straightforward repair.
*UPDATE finally got through on the phone, only to be told that my property manager had left and no one thought to tell me this after two weeks? I was then also told by Victoria that no quote had even been received, so Vijay, the property manager, clearly lied to me when he told me a quote had been received. Victoria was also rude and spoke to me abruptly. Anyone would think it was her that was affected, not me, the paying tenant. I have now been left chasing this for weeks with conflicting information and no proper communication. If this still isn’t resolved, I will be contacting the landlord directly, as advised by Shelter.
