I had recently had my bathroom done with Gateshead council, to which they had given me a 50pound voucher to buy paint from Johnstones with, and whilst it was a faff trying to communicate the colours that I wanted through email, as it is. They sent me the wrong colour! The colour I wanted was Sky's Edge Voc, a darkish aqua colour, and instead I received this ugly whiteish-blue! They slapped on the label of Sky's Edge to give me the wrong colour. I generally feel a bit taken advantage of as someone who had already received a free voucher; it seemed that they didn't care because I wasn't putting money in their pocket.

This particular decorating centre (Castleford) was recommended to us by a tradesman.

We have now purchased from there on 3 occasions and had 3 different members of staff, and on each one we have asked their advise.
They are so helpful and knowledgeable with lots a patience.
Their prices are very competitive and we would always return now.

Johnstones Rip off pricing

I have just priced up Johnstones 1 litre Aquaguard Durable gloss finish at the trade centre, in Liverpool and Widnes price £32.70. I also have to drive there and back with the hidden cost iof 2 litres of fuel, The same paint at Next day paint delivered to my door is only £23.01. A massive rip off, Can any one explain the difference? My order was delivered on 03,08.25, with a saving of £9.69.

Johnstone’s Telford.

Only one young woman serving but we could hear male voices in the adjoining storeroom. The woman assistant was dealing with a customer. My husband and I were the only other people in the store. We stood there for 25 minutes. We were not acknowledged at all. Not even a polite “sorry to keep you waiting”. In the meantime the gents in the adjoining room were still chatting so we walked out. We will not be going back again.

Johnstone Stevenage,

Johnstone Stevenage,
Horrid service, asked for some paint, very rude lady serving me no one else in shop.
Asked for price and asked whyit is £10 more than Amazon, reply was your decision. How do companies with customer service like that survive.
Will never use again

DO NOT GO TO JOHNSTONES! LIARS!!!!

12 days ago on 23rd March 2023, I went in to one of the branches to order some paints for delivery to decorate my new home. I picked all my paints and ordered the necesarry decorating pack. I was then told, by the staff member on shift at the time, that everything would be delivered by Monday 27th March 2023. Monday came and nothing so I thought maybe there’s a problem with orders and they’re a bit backed up. I left it til Wednesday 29th March, still nothing, so I rang up in the morning of Wednesday 29th March and asked where is my order that was promised to be delivered. He said I’m sorry the man didn’t turn up until quarter to 4 he will be with you tomorrow. Thursday 30th March came around and still nothing so I rang them mid afternoon and said my paints are still not here this is so unprofessional and un-called for, I was promised these paints on Monday 27th March what is going on, he then proceeded with another “excuse” and said the van got a puncture on route to the deliveries. So I said to the man on the phone (his name was Josh) okay, but this is still unacceptable and that I need the paints and other decorating equipment to decorate my home. He said he’ll speak to the manager and get back to me the next day. Friday 31st March came and I hadn’t heard call back so I rang up and said have you spoke to your boss he said yes your order will be delivered Monday 3rd April. So I said okay thankyou, we’re getting somewhere. Monday 3rd April comes around and still nothing. So I ring them up again and I say, this is getting a bit boring now I feel like we’re going around in circles here, feel a bit dizzy, stop making promises that your going to deliver my order when clearly you’re making excuses after excuse and telling lie after lie. So they said we’re really sorry the man who does the deliveries didn’t show up to the branch in Salford to deliver your order. So I said this is getting beyond a joke, your company is a complete joke and I bet you’ve got no 5 star reviews because if you did then i would see pigs flying. So he said will you be home on Tuesday 3rd April? So I said yes so he said your paints will be delivered tomorrow meaning today between 12pmcand 4pm. OMG GUESS WHAT?!?! Still NO ORDER! Rang them as well and no answer. Absolute joke of a company never trust them if your going to buy anything just collect in store cos they might forget your order or say the van wing mirror fell off. Full of liars and unprofessional people this company absolutely inconsiderate.

Thanks
Nathan xoxo

Awful customer service to a complaint

Unfortunately the company’s computer has ‘matched’ the completely wrong colour paint to my A4 wallpaper sample that the Poole staff saw at the time. Whilst I appreciate that the final decision on the 3 colours was made by my representatives, I expect the computer to be as accurate as possible, checked by the paint experts working at the store, in producing the options to begin with. I understand the paint colour was checked by the store member, Dave, in the light against the wallpaper so I am flummoxed why it is so blatantly wrong.
My main gripe though is the way my calm and polite manner raising the issue was met by Dave who was defensive and spoke over me with a raised voice in order to block me. He requires customer service skill training. I wonder if he would have been quite so rude if I had been a man.
It is a great shame that the way in which I was spoken to has now led me to have to raise awareness to other members of the public and I will be avoiding the Poole branch in future.

Great service from the team at Coventry Branch. Great prices (if you buy regularly) which are set on my account so i don't need to ask each time. Many times I ring ahead and get paints mixed ready for collection. Always pleasent and friendly despite the early morning rush of all the decorators (and renderers) piling in to get there products in before starting a job.

Compare these prices to dulux trade and you are saving thousands per year even if paying full RRP.

My main paint supplier, haggling at first to get prices down but when you start spending a few thousand they treat you well! Decent quality paint and accurate colour matches.

BRISTOL BRANCH. rip off manager

BRISTOL BRANCH. Albert Rd.
Other branches may be better.

If your a tradesman, dont waste your time. As an account paying customer, every time they will try and charge you full walk in price and you have to haggle the price down to the correct trade level. If you want an easy life, just go to an independent johnstones paint stockest and get a reasonable price without the hassle.

Great value

We have been looking for paint suppliers for weeks, especially those that can mix up the trendy paints at a reasonable cost. We looked at Brewers, but here they made up our order at a really good price. We are renovating our house, so paint is going to a large costs going forward and I think we have found the right supplier.
