Avoid this used car sales company

I do not regularly review but on this occasion felt it necessary. I was calling for a first time car and as someone with experience asked about the car in question. The man who spoke to me was so rude and condescending from the beginning because I dared to ask about the vehicle. I suspect this was because I was a woman and wasn’t asking about his more expensive vehicles. Do not buy from this garage if you expect any form of customer service or I suspect after sales.

11 hour round trip

Just like to say i did a 11 hours round trip to collect a 2016 D4 and the car wash as described, even supplied a towbar included, staff were great to deal with and friendly, even loaded the car on my trailer for me. the next day when i drove the car i noticed the tracking was out, this was sorted by my local kwick fit and paid for, by these guys, and then i had a stuck brake calliper, which also was paid for to be repaired, so i would recommend these guys - speak with James - and as i have a few landrovers, i will be dealing with these again, 5* (and recommended to a friend already).

First class Experience

Purchased a Land Rover Discovery 4 from Johnson’s 4x4. I cannot rate the experience highly enough. The prices are competitive, the support during the sales phase was fantastic, absolutely no pressure to close. I did buy the car after test drive, conversations with James who was able to answer any questions/concerns I had. I can now also confirm first class after sales service. When the time comes, I will be back to see James for an uplifted model. I have no hesitation recommending both James and Johnson’s 4x4. First Class….

Approach with caution

Bought a defender 90, which we thought came with an MOT and service. When delivered, went to fuel the car only to find fuel gushing out of the tank all over the forecourt. After recovering the defender to a local garage, the mechanics condemned it immediately and insisted on a re MOT. The MOT that was issued 2 days earlier was fraudulently obtained. Ended up spending £2000 to put the vehicle in a safe working order. The brakes were non existent and riddled with oil leaks and failures. We have reported the MOT station to the south east metropolitan traffic commissioner and the DVSA inspections directive to investigate the fraudulent MOT. Jimmy was forced to contribute to some of the repairs however, I get the feeling had we not experienced the fuel tank leak we would have been non the wiser to the death trap we were driving. Jimmy also suggested that the test station was at fault and the tester had something in his eye!!! Having read some of the previous reviews maybe he should have gone to spec savers, My advice to anyone considering buying from this company, go look at the vehicle before parting with cash and get it checked as buying blind will certainly cost you long term. Also reported to local trading standards..

Con Artists/Unprofessional

AVOID this car dealership, it is run by cowboys.
James Johnson tried to sell me a defender with a fraudulent MOT on it, which came to light after I paid for an independent inspection. The defender had some critical issues that would have made it impossible to pass the 'existing' MOT. The car was not safe to drive and posed a risk to life if driven. NONE of the problems identified in the inspection had been disclosed in the description on the vehicle information via Ebay. James is also a thief.
He agreed to return some halo lights to me via post, which I'd previously sent him to put on the car I was buying, he said he would return these...but then failed to do so. He has also refused to give me back my full deposit. I have told him I will be contacting the police.

Dont not trust this company!

I purchased a 97 Defender with galvenised Chassis and these guys told me it was in great condition and no rust as it had loads of work done to it which was reflected in the price of £15K.

It turns out that all the work done to it was extremely badly done.. wiring pushed into gaps and not connected, brackets and parts missing as they were not replaced after chassis change, leaking hoses, perished rubber parts, gear box was crunching after only just driving it home. They sell with a 6 month warrenty but their machanic is useless and they had my car for 2 months and fix maybe 30% of the issues I raised. Ended up having to pay £3000 extra out of my own pocket to another mechanic to bring the car up to the condition they sold it to me at. I also believe now that they may also use stolen parts! DO NOT TOUCH THESE COWBOYS. SALES MAN IS VERY FRIENDLY BUT WILL STOP RESPONDONG TO EMAILS WHEN YOU RAISE AN ISSUE.
