Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 42 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall with this platform. Customers frequently complain about being locked into unexpected annual subscriptions and facing confusing cancellation processes that make exiting the platform extremely difficult and frustrating. Many people feel heavily misled by the pricing structure, which often hides ongoing yearly financial commitments behind seemingly simple monthly costs and fees. Some reviewers were not happy with the customer service department, describing support representatives as unhelpful, blunt, and rude when addressing urgent account problems. Consumers also noted recurring problems with disappearing credits, rigid contract terms, and unexpected charges occurring even after attempting to stop automatic payments.

ISTOCKPHOTOS.COM...BIG FAT SCAM

I was also scammed by this bs misleading company that needs to be shut down. Can't believe they haven't been investigated yet for stealing people's money. Thankfully my bank is getting my money back and hopefully people will see all of these comments and not be tricked like everyone here who has commented. Idk how people can actually sleep at night working for this bullshit scam company. If something sucks, you're supposed to be able to get your money back. And Istockphotos is the suckiest company I've ever encountered.

Subscription Scam

Their Free Subscription feature is incredibly deceiving and tricks you into committing to a year of payments. Unbelievable that this level of subscription scam is allowed. Absolutely wretched company.

Terrible service

Terrible service! Despite paying for a subscription, iStockphoto failed to deliver the promised images and ignored requests for explanations and refunds. The company charges without transparency and does not honor its contractual commitments. Avoid at all costs to prevent scams and frustration!

Got scammed with a 1 year plan - no way out

If you sign up to test the platform you will not be able to terminate the designated plan. You will be charged monthly for a whole year as they do not let you cancel. The images I had access to with my plan are old and outdated, I didn't even get access to the signature images, I had to pay extra for each. I gave away my money for a year for nothing. No value. Stay away! You can find more modern options for free at Pexels.com or Unsplash.

AI service is not ready yet and refunds are impossible despite selling a poorly functioning service

The selection of photos is decent (considering how bad stock photography is in general- but also istockphoto is not the best either).

My main complaint is that the AI product has a lot of promise but clearly they rushed the product and it's not ready for actual usage yet. The prompts only work half the time and degrade the quality of the image (for example I asked it to remove certain features from an image and it introduced new artifacts like weird lines). Other times, I was just met with a blank infinitely scrolling screen after the AI was processing.

The most infuriating thing was I contacted support asking for a refund and they flat out denied it, saying that they talked to IT support and nothing was wrong and I should retry. I work in software development and this kind of behaviour is unacceptable. You can't sell something that doesn't deliver on its promise and say to the customer that your terms of service prevents you from issuing a refund.

Luckily my credit card company will take care of the refund, but I won't be going to this site again. Pathetic.

They are scammers!!

They are scammers!!! Do not sign in for the free trial because you won't be able to get out of it, there is no option on their website to end the free trial, it's a nightmare, they will charge you huge amounts monthly, the images are poor quality and if you email them to try to get out of the subscription, they ask for more money. SCAMMERS!!!

Bad bad customer service.

Bad bad customer service.

I had been a long-time customer on annual subscriptions. I was sent a promotion for renewing. I was referred to a sales rep called Branden. This guy turned out to be rude and unprofessional. Then long story short, when I asked about using the new promotion, he told me I could not combine the discount I already had and the new one but old me that if I auto-renew, I'd get old price. Which is fine.

But then a few weeks later, I got an email that I would be renewed not at my old price, but the newest market price. When I emailed Branden back, he said I didn't respond to his email. I forwarded him the email and pointed out he didn't ask me to email back, he became silent. Just ignores my email.

So Istock has a customer perfectly willing to pay over $3k a year and who doesn't use up all his allotment, but they don't give a crap. I guess they are rich. That's ok, we regular people can take our business elsewhere.

Be very careful with this company

Be very careful with this company. istock has literally stolen money. After attempting to cancel this service during the trial period. The chat feature tells you they will respond with 36 hours. There is no option to cancel in your account so you have to wait on support. I was charged anyway the following month and I let it go because it read $70 was charged and it reads as if the $70 is for the year so I let it go. This month I am charged $70 again and after reading several times over it says in small print the total is $770 for the entire year which is nowhere to be found when signing up for the free trial. I called to sort it out and get a refund for atleast this month's charge and not only did they tell me they aren't refunding any of it, but they are also going to charge an additional $70 to cancel the subscription. Complete crook activity here from this company. 0/10.

Looks like i'm just one of many victims here that fell for the free trial. Beware of these guys, even if you do not use their services post trial period they will automatically charge you! Bunch of fracking scammers, and the worst part about it is that they write policies to protect themselves from giving your money back.

istock has terrible customer service for a small company. I did not realize that it was on auto renew… And it cost me thousands of dollars that I was forced to pay because I did not unsubscribe in time. (They will tell you that unsubscribing is easy. Don’t believe it!!) I NEVER clicked renew. Funny that it makes you auto renew. Terrible!!
