I'm having a terrible experience with ING at the moment. I transferred my rent to my landlord about 3 weeks ago (at the end of last month) and the payment was taken off my account, my landlord never received it. I wouldn't have known if it wasn't for my landlord who emailed me to tell me my rent was late and they've given me a deadline to do the payment. At the moment, I have 0 clarity about: what is going on, where is my money?, when will my landlord receive it?, does it make sense for me to do another payment for rent and will they receive it this time? I'm in a situation where I'm about to be thrown out of my apartment and the only answer I'm receiving is: 'We'll get back to you, please be patient'. My landlord is not patient and this is an extremely stressful situation for me, I've never been late with rent or important payments. ING has really lost my trust here.

I had an absolutely terrible experience with ING Bank. I applied for a current account only to be flat-out declined because they deemed my country a “risk country.” Not only did they reject my application, but they also stated that I will never be allowed to open an account with them in the future. This decision is completely misguided—my KYC information is solid, and they should reconsider their stance instead of wasting my time.
What makes it even more frustrating is that the solution was incredibly simple. They could have just reset their system to allow me to re-upload my documents. I've handled the same task before and fixed the error by simply resetting and asking the user to redo the process. It's a trivial fix, yet they refused to help and instead left me dealing with this mess.
I spent seven days on endless phone calls and even made an appointment, only to be met with nonsense and empty promises. Bad service and treatment! ING Bank’s unprofessional approach and arbitrary policies have not only wasted my time but also left me deeply frustrated.
Because of a simple mistake, they could have easily notified me about the error before permanently closing my account. Instead, they declined me forever. This is not the service I want, so be careful with them—they will find any excuse to decline you. Money is on the line, so be cautious.
I strongly advise anyone considering their services to think twice before engaging with them.

If you're a non-native speaker or an expat, be aware that this bank may not treat you fairly. Proceed with caution and consider alternative options. edit: I had already contacted the bank before writing this review, and all I received was a standard, generic response about how they do not discriminate—just the usual corporate talk. However, every single time, it feels like a struggle to get anything done at this bank. I’ve also seen their service point flooded with expats facing similar issues, getting sent back and forth without real solutions. To be clear, it’s not the employees who are the problem—they are just following the bank’s bureaucratic processes. The real issue lies in the institution’s approach, which makes every interaction an unnecessary challenge. Truly a disappointing experience; edit: had good conversation with the bank and hope things may get better in the future

Had a company bank account at ING in the Netherlands that we wanted close down. Tried via the app, failed. Tried via customer service - 4 phone calls later, still not resolved. I was asked to come and solve it in person at their bank office. I have spent one hour and 45 minutes with a lady there, who was desperately trying to solve it, together with three 'helpers', and it wasn't resolved either. Once you make a bank account, you can't close it anymore, because ING bank officer don't know how. Even the people from the back offices had no clue! Every month, they take 21 EUR for the account maintenance and this is the service we get as a company. Sheer incompetence.
Edit: Tonight ING emailed me the 'paper form' they spent looking for the whole hour and 45 min when I was in the office. This feels a lot like 1990ies kind of treatment (in the digital age, I still have to fill a paper and send it by mail)

My creditcard details got stolen and used without confirmation for Uber Eats. Normally I always have to confirm transactions in the app. There is no way to add or remove this.
More importantly it is possible to cancel the creditcard in the app or online and the phonenumber is unreachable. I've called multiple times and didn't get a response after 10 minutes.
We are talking about a creditcard here. Why can't I block this myself online? We are living in 2025.
If you want a business credit card please go to a different bank. I'm going to search my options to open a seperate business credit card somewhere else.
Update: I have managed to reach the customer service yesterday after waiting for 20 minutes. We blocked my card and they have filed for an investigation. I think its weird why 10 uber eats purchases don't get flagged as fraud and luckily they didn't spend more after. Because it was three months ago I already paid for the € 700+ in costs without me knowing.
I'll send an update if I will get the money back or not.

Honestly - very poor service:
- business credit card needs an app to log in and download invoices/statements
- the app is not functioning correctly: when entering the authentication code on PC, it doesn't process it and you're stuck in a loop
- tried calling the helpdesk twice: once 45 mins waiting time. I tried the callback service, but to no avail. tried it again today, 25 mins waiting time.
This is taking me too much time, and causing me a lot of irritation. Better fix this ING!!!

Outdated processes locked us out of money, customer service wouldn't believe it and just hung-up on us as scammers. Then on a business account they closed it without much effort to make us aware - again, locking-up funds.
We separately use Wise for banking and are much happier with all-digital communications, there is less risk of losing access to funds. Highly recommend Wise for anyone looking for a new bank.

ING Nederland – Unreliable, abusive, and full of unacceptable practices!
My experience with ING Nederland has been extremely negative, and I believe no one should deal with this bank. Here are the main reasons for my dissatisfaction:
1. Hidden fees and unjustified charges: Every time I make purchases in another EU country, ING takes a hidden commission, even though payments within the EU should have no additional costs. Additionally, I constantly receive letters informing me that the fees for their service packages will increase yet again. This is an ongoing financial abuse!
2. Faulty banking app: Their online banking app is unreliable and riddled with errors. It often doesn’t work or displays error messages, making it impossible to manage finances effectively.
3. Low-quality ID verification software: Their identity verification system for passports and ID cards is terrible. It barely works and causes unnecessary frustration.
4. Racism and discrimination: ING appears to target customers with foreign names or from other countries, subjecting them to unnecessary investigations and questioning. I believe this behavior is discriminatory and possibly illegal.
5. Lack of customer support: There is no real customer support available—just virtual bots that are entirely unhelpful. At least, that has been my experience.
6. No physical branches or ATMs: ING has removed branches and ATMs from my city, forcing customers to do everything online without proper assistance, all while charging excessive fees for their inadequate services.
I would strongly advise everyone to stay away from ING Nederland!

Absolutely unbelievable, wanted to open 3 new accounts. But due to the fact I'm abroad the coming months no one is able to help or figure out how to do that because you need to be in a physical office. They advertise with all these commercials of video chatting and say on their website that experienced banking people will help but this is far from reality. They know very little, and does not feel like an advisor for you at all. After 30+ years at the same bank now need to look for another bank. Really disappointed and in disbelief.

I worked with many banks in the worlds including boa, well fargo, unicredit, abn ambro and ING is the worst one by far with their irresponsible and disrespectful banking approach.

I invest money in cryptocurrency and about a year ago it was not a problem to invest 150000 EUR using iDeal from ING bank. But now I couldn't invest even 10 000 EUR because of constant calls from them with a rude representative of "fraud deparment" who tells me what to and what not to do. I'm the client and can decide myself. Bye bye ing bank!

We’ve been ING customers for almost two decades and we’ve never felt seriously negative about them until today. Their customer service is sh*t. Reached out via chat and then on the phone. We have to contact them two separate times for two credit cards that are linked to a joint account. Got two different answers. The customer service we had on the phone responded annoyed and irritated to us. She was also very condescending. She talked to us as if we’re stupid and a nuisance to her for wasting her time. We didn’t even have a complaint. We were just clarifying some strange charges on the app (that was probably a result of some background update they were doing because when we checked again, they weren’t there anymore.) But instead of offering that possibility, she talked to us like we’re crazy and idiotic. Every sentence that came out of her mouth was condescending. Disgusting. Why bother getting a job dealing with customers who did not nothing but be concerned for their hard-earned money? I understand one can have a bad day but she cut us off constantly like she didn’t even want to hear what we’re saying. I am seriously seething right now. ING, you should do better than that!!!

I am Dutch living in Greece. Have a account with a lot of money on it. It is not a saving account so it seems normal to this bank not to give any interest. I asked to open a saving account. That was not possible because I was living abroad. This is Europe and a International bank 2024. Took all my money away. They do not care.

Nothing is possible! Besides taking your money.
The business credit card of theirs is the icing on the cake after almost 5 years and never missed a payment I'm still on a 500 euro limited like I'm a child of 4 years old, while I turned over close to a million euro. The Last time I asked for 250 Euro increase just for fun..of course another beautiful letter denying it. Joke of a bank. You really gotta try their small loans department, even better!!!!!!

Honestly find another bank and DO NOT trust them. I requested a charge back after an accidental purchase of €400 and they didn’t care to help while I was 11 years their customer. Absolutely unfair treatment! I will change my bank 100% since ING don’t care for your money’s safety! We need banks to evolve with this modern world especially with the internet they need to build a safe place for you. Clearly ING hasn’t done that….
Edit: they called me but they still don’t bother to help (lady in the phone was nice, not her fault). Proved my point again ☝️

So bad, the website is terrible, the app is not user friendly especially not if you don’t speak any Dutch. The bank is very old fashioned, investing is made highly complicated for expats, they recommended me to go and look for another company when I wanted to invest with them. Super bureaucratic when loosing passwords, my cards frequently stop working and I am so tired of ordering new ones that I use my German N26 card which works everywhere in the world.
