Fake Reviews on Platform
I had a very bad experience with Independer for rechtbijstandverzekering. It looks like, Independer promotes(shows high review score) for lowest quality insurance services. These insurance services have worst terms and conditions so instead of saving money in case of accident you end up losing some.

I got legal insurance from them. Now when I need legal advice, no one picks up call. The machine keeps repeating that all their experts are busy.

Impossible to leave a review
I wanted to leave a review of the insurance company I hired through Independer.
After talking to customer service for almost an hour, with them telling me that I could only leave a review in Trustpilot, they finally told me that Independer "sends" one automatic email to write a review about the insurer. If you don't have that email for whatever reason, you basically cannot do anything to write your review but leave a complaint on their website.
What a joke of a review system and customer service.

The platform is full of bugs and unusable in production.
Last year I couldn’t get insurance because there was a bug with the apostrophe in the city name.
Now I log in, fill everything in, and the thing offers me a premium for €170 a month (instead of €15 stated on the previous screen) and even asks me to authorize a €170 payment. Fine, I press back and then next again — looks okay, now it shows €15 as it should.
I sent the request, and now I get a KNOWLEDGE TEST in my email with 7 questions.
You open this damn test — of course the questions are in Dutch, and on top of that they coded it in a way that the browser can’t even translate it.

Poor Customer Service and Lack of Transparency
The customer service is extremely unhelpful and lacks transparency. When an issue arises—especially one that is clearly their responsibility—they fail to explain or inform you properly, and instead proceed to charge you without justification. There is no way to reach an expert by email or phone, only a chat box that disappears once closed, along with your entire conversation history. No one takes responsibility or follows up on your concerns.
we had a serious problem with my car insurance. They refused to acknowledge my husband's no-claim bonus simply because of my nationality, which felt discriminatory and unfair. As a result, I was charged an excessive amount. Overall, the experience was frustrating and disappointing.

Regarding the no-claim bonus: in the Netherlands, insurers use a central system called Roydata to register claim-free years. Unfortunately, this system only includes years built up with Dutch insurers. In some cases, it’s possible to submit an original claim-free certificate from a foreign insurer, but strict conditions apply. These vary depending on the country and its driving standards, which means they’re not always accepted.
