I was fortunate enough to have made one of the best decisions of my life by instructing Richmond Chambers to work on my immigration case.

Although applying for the Tier 4 General Student visa is a relatively straightforward process, my case needed to be managed with experience, precision and better yet meticulousness, because of the many complicated details – mostly associated with my personal life – which risked affecting my application’s credibility.

Our case was quite complicated because of the mishandling of earlier lawyers. We had applied, appealed and almost exhausted all avenues including the appeal rights. We were getting desperate and losing hope. Under these circumstances, my wife and I met Paul Richmond in 2011 to look into our case. He discussed all the legal aspects, pros and cons of the case and advised us accordingly. His advice was very professional, honest and straightforward. Due to limited financial means, we filed the case ourselves on Article 8 in 2012, which was again refused by Home Office.

Finally we filed the case through Richmond chambers under Appendix FM, 7 years children continuous residence and outside the rules on the basis of family life. A thorough, detailed and exhaustive case covering legal laws and points was drafted, which was spread over 26 pages. A large number of relevant documents were also attached covering all the points, which Home Office could raise.

Home Office rejected the case again. Mr Richmond was of the opinion that Home Office has not considered the points raised in the case properly and was very positive to initiate Judicial Review. A pre-action protocol letter was prepared describing all the factors, which Home Office failed to consider. In response, finally Home Office granted us visa under Appendix FM, 7 years children continuous residence and outside the rules on the basis of family life.

We also wish to take this opportunity to acknowledge Ms Gillian Mccall for her excellent help and support. She provided comprehensive guidance that helped us in preparation of all the documents according to the Home Office requirements. We found her very knowledgeable and capable as she dealt with all our queries in a very professional manner.

As a Canadian engaged to a British National, I realized my fiance and I were going to need a proper immigration law firm to guide us through the detailed and stressful requirements we would have to fulfill, in order for me to gain a UK Spousal Visa, which is no easy task nowadays. I can say in reflection, without a doubt, that Paul Richmond was a very lucky find from my internet search for an immigration barrister. Since none of our British friends had ever used a UK immigration lawyer before, I couldn't rely on a personal recommendation from anyone, so I realized I was on my own. My instinct told me that if I found a law firm from an internet search that I could entrust, then it must be strictly an immigration law firm - in other words -the firm must live and breath immigration law and no other areas of the law. After an intensive internet search, it was easy to see that many law firms posture themselves as experts in immigration law - but in reality, they often had only one token lawyer on board, who "specialized in immigration law", whilst being an expert in at least 3 other sections of the law. Mr. Paul Richmond turn arround my case 180 degree

In 2009, my previous solicitor had submitted my application for Discretionary leave to remain on the basis of seven years old child. After 18 months Homeoffice refused my application and demanded to leave the UK. I start looking help on the internet and sent thousands of requests to many immigration lawyers most of them advised me to save money and return to the country I came from.
But I am extremely lucky that I sent an email to Mr. Paul Richmond too, next day I recieved a call from Mr. Paul Richmond, the way he defined me the situation I realised he is the person who can help me. In short he took my case and sent very effective legal letter to Homeoffice to review the case. Within three weeks Homeoffice offered me Tribunal review in the Tribunal review Mr. Paul Richmond submitted about 500 pages skeleton, the judge was impress and raised the bundle in her hand showed to home office barrister again in short she allowed our appeal. But Homeoffice challenge it to Upper Tribunal. In Upper Tribunal situation was more intense, there were two judges but Homeoffice representative could not open his mouth because the points Mr. Paul Richmond raised in the courtroom were unbeatable and again both judges allowed for the discretionary leave to remain.
