Buggy software that doesn't do the back up. Slow customer support - took several weeks to resolve. Also, its expensive. Pity because it would otherwise be a good product.

I have had a good experience. Seamless backup is what we all need.
General fair value for money when looking at storage/features/price. HOWEVER, customer support sucks. It is extremely impersonal and always defaults to canned responses. Often, it makes you wonder if they ever read the actual question until they are explicitly asked to do so. Even then, their replies are lacking answers to problems or suggested workarounds.
For the application itself, it does have a couple of defects. When backup errors happen (which they do sometimes in most systems), the app lags a proper log file and you need to create a support ticket with debug information just to find out, which files failed during the backup...
It also lags a basic feature like retention time for you backups, so you backup storage keeps growing (which of course might be in the interest of iDrive sales team). Their current solution for cleaning up called "periodic cleanup" is totally useless and uncontrolled. What it does it more or less randomly remove old files from you backup storage, no matter when the files were deleted... dooohhh....
iDrive COULD be one of the best backup tools if they took customer support serious and fixed the above deficiencies.

I had heard about Idrive 5 years ago and when doing cost comparison always found them to be the best bang for the buck. I have had several laptops crash but had always been lucky to avoid data loss by constant local backups. It was time to buy a new local backup storage, when my laptop crashed and I lost crucial data I should have backed up on the cloud. My fear was also privacy of my data and the fear that online backup is complicated and fails. I finally dove into the deep end and subscribed and the prices are far more affordable than 5+ years ago. So far I have backed up all phones without a hitch, and 2 1 TB laptops with no problem. It did give me problem and partially backed up over 3 TB of my back up drive (which took 5 days to process and that is not bad actually). Now I have to sort what did back up. I have a lot more to learn about the interface as it has a lot of options, as repeated full backups, or syncing, and other back up options for servers etc. So far I am enjoying this and am at peace that my files are secure. I love love the option of live support. No live phone support is a deal breaker for me.
Quick upload over gigabit fiber. Wishing the interface was more Mac-like to be honest. Also, the Files/Folders for online backup section should have a navigable hierarchical interface rather than just listing all of the subfolders on the same level. It makes it difficult with lots of subfolders to get a clean idea of what to include/exclude. I'm still testing the app and am using both iDrive and Backblaze and each have their interface and navigation issues. I'm hopeful that more time will result in more comfort with iDrive. Really hope they do some work on the interface and possibly color code excluded items in red with an icon next to it or something for really clear delineation. Thanks and keep up the good work.
Using IDrive to backup my iMac and attached drives has been very easy and straightforward. I would recommend this solution to anyone looking for a worry-free way to backup her files.
Awful. I can only report my own experience. Others' experiences may differ. Regularly fails to recognise legitimate login details (error message, username/password not correct, not found). Obviously a system issue because I can sometimes login. No pattern. Utterly unituitable interface. Hopeless tech support - link to live chat 'available 24 hrs' didn't work. Slow. Almost any interaction triggers yet another login request. Cancelled subscription a few mins ago.
8th May - Update.
Spot a common theme? No meaningful support action at the time of request. Post a negative review here - instant 'happy to investigate further'. How about just respond effectively when support ticket created?

iDrive is doing a great job for me. The value for money you are getting is outstanding. They are replying quickly in case of questions or support needed. The applications, regardless of web based or client or phone, are easy to understand and use.
Great tool for me to make sure I will never loose any data again
My experience with iDrive is not good.
1) My emails never get a reply. Support is not good.
2) I cannot drag and drop files that I want to backup - I find that this is a big limitation. I am used to Google drive but notice iDrive does not work like Google drive.
But to be fair, I think iDrive is good for backing up of drives at a reasonable price.

I was able to download, install, configure and get a backup going in under an hour.
Great value (functionalities & space) for the price
It is the best choice in terms of price for the functionalities and storage space when you have multiple computers to back up.
Easy to use application. Non intrusive backups and fast
The upload doesn't work well through the browser, the desktop application is more reliable. Great storage capacity for a great price. 4/5
The desktop application works well, but the upload is relatively slow. It can't compete with the best storage options, but you get a lot of TB storage for good value, and you can relatively rely on the service.
I've used idrive as a backup for my Android phone. App works well and interface is good. Haven't used the online version for PC yet though. Would recommend for phone backup. Easy to use and great pricing.
I have subscribed to iDrive almost a month ago, and so far I am enjoying a lot!
idrive is easy to use and has a clean interface. I have only started to use it but I learned how in minutes other backup tools I have used where not so straightforward.
I recommend it to anyone who need and easy solution.
It was easy to install the software and then backup my desktop and laptop. I like the fact that a single account can backup multiple devices. I will likely also back up my phone and tablet. Also, they sent a physical drive to get me started, otherwise it would have taken weeks to do the first backup. Very nice! I deduct one star because it took iDrive a long time to upload the physical drive to my account after I shipped it back. A couple of emails with their tech support fixed the issue, and I was good to go.
First-time customer, the website and dedicated apps (for Desktop and Nas) are functional and very friendly. A couple of clics and your backup routine is up and ready.
Not giving a full 5-stars because of the upload and download speed that could be boosted a bit. But apart from that, very happy of the service.
