Very unreasonable extra charge of 600 kr for luggage because the staff ment it was too big. It could easily fit under the seat as it was supposed to!

Buyer beware

Booked a flight that included a layover in Reykjavik. Later, I was notified that the departure time for my second flight had been moved. What I was not informed of, was that the entire plane was changed and the seat I was supposed to be in no longer existed.
Instead of assigning me a new seat on the new plane, Iceland Air reserved me a second seat on the first flight.
When I discovered this (entirely by coincidence), the customer service agent demanded I paid extra to get a seat on the plane I had booked and paid for. When I pointed out why I thought this was unreasonable, I was promptly disconnected.
I ended up having to rebook everything myself (if it had been an option at this point, I would’ve gone with a different airline), including paying extra - although interestingly not quite the same amount the csa had demanded.

In conclusion: I wouldn’t personally fly Iceland Air again if I had other options, but if you do; apparently you need to make sure to double and triple check that the seat assignments you’ve given are actually on the plane you’re supposed to be on.

Icelandair

Icelandair
You cancelled our flight in January, now we have to fly to another city. No compensation for hotels and no tickets to our home city.
Fees included for changing flights to another city that you have cancelled is tantamount to impudence, Merry Christmas to you too.

Damaged luggage

One of.my cases dis not arrive, it did finally show up after 72 hours. Upon receipt the case had been opened with no indication as to why and by whom. The padlock had not been broken but the zip had been snipped open.
The airline automated reply suggests wear and tear, clearly they have not read my claim or looked at the photos as they show the big had been opened forcibly resulting in a case thst can no longer be secured.

Random bag size check

One wheel is barely sticking out of the luggage size checking frame, so I was forced to check in my carry on for no reason. I’ve flown multiple times and my bag fits fine. Not to mention I was just called for random passport check for no apparent reason. All other people were getting on just fine with bags with much bigger sizes. Employees here are just empty headed robots

Avoid!

Avoid. Will never fly with Iceland air again. Was flying from Seattle to Denmark for a family funeral with just two pieces of carry-on baggage. I’ve flown multiple times with them with other airlines and they have been bought for air travel purposes. The forced us to check it in despite I told them we would miss the train to get to the funeral even though there was plenty of space in the aircraft. On the way back we got a warning on my wife’s checkin regarding her travel status. Very simple to resolve since we are traveling on approved visas, but sat in 2 x 45 minute phone queue with no results other than they referred us to the embassy and said we needed to figure out our travel document. We got really concerned and rushed to the airport in the middle of the night to try and fix it. Talked to the SAS counter and they told us it was standard procedure to check in in person when traveling on a visa. This formality caused us so much stress and lack of sleep in a difficult time, simply because of very poor customer service. Big thumbs up to SAS and BIG thumbs down to Iceland air.

PS no food on the 8 hour haul!

horrible customer service, poor website

horrible customer service...i tried to cancel my flights, but couldnt do this online, since the airline doesnt permit cancellation online...they force you to call a call center...so i end up being in a long wait...and couldnt get through...ended up having to take a different flight and then called later to cancel...and they tell me that i now have to forfeit my tickets since cancellation happened late...no other (real) airline has this policy...avoid traveling with Iceland Air...really poor customer service and lack of adherence to basic consumer protection laws and regulations...even lack basic website functionality where the rest of the world has moved to a self-service capability...

AVOID

AVOID! Incredibly uncomfortable flights. I am 5”11 and had my knees crushed on a nearly 6 hour flight. The seats are FAR to close together and the seats in front of you still can recline slightly, crushing legs further. Anything to squeeze more seats in the plane and make more money. Your comfort is not important. On our journey home, my partner was seated 5 rows behind with an empty seat next to him!! Ridiculous and greedy airline. The only thanks I have is for the pilots who got us all to our destination safety.

Flight from BOS to GLA via KEF on…

Flight from BOS to GLA via KEF on Saturday 8th April. Checked emails upon checking out of the hotel in the morning. Everything looking good.
Arrived at Logan in the evening to discover our flight(s) had been cancelled.
To be fair, we had been rebooked onto BA flights via Heathrow.
This is where I am annoyed. I actively avoid Heathrow for a few reasons which is why I didn’t choose BA in the first place.
We were left in a real quandary as Iceland air were refusing to allow us to fly anything other than our new flights unless we covered the cost ourselves.
KLM flights were coming in at nearly £5000 so we flew BA.
We had paid extra leg room etc etc.
Landed in GLA almost five hours behind schedule.
Have called Iceland Air. They will refund the keg room payments in four to six weeks! Nothing for the flight even though there was a five hour delay.
That doesn’t seem right. I have since contacted consumer advice who have confirmed we should be receiving a refund for the flight as we landed more than three hours later than we had booked.

Very bad customer service.

Very bad customer service.
I asked for the refund of my taxes and fees paid for an Iceland Air flight , since by law they have to refund to the customer since they do not pay those monies for a noshow passenger and they flatly refuse. They then try to pass the buck to the THIRD PARTY, knowingly very well that this so called company mytrip.com are criminals and liars. I A chat support is rude and either lyoing through there teeth or so badly trained that they do know the current laws that concern their business. Never again Iceland Air !!!

Nope

Awful customer service and experience. They nickel and dime you. The flight was cancelled. They wouldn’t release my spot to make other accomodations. I was then out hundreds of dollars for my hotel and missed tours. They ended up canceling the second flight too. Now it’s two weeks later, I have yet to receive a refund.you open a ticket to which they close saying it’s been refunded. I’ve replied twice saying it hasn’t. No response. I called and they can’t do anything or escalate it.

They screwed up but no help to fix-don’t fly Icelandair!

Having flown with Icelandair before I was surprised at just how bad they have got. At check in the agent failed to put a tag on one of my cases. I pointed that out to him and his response was dismissive yes I did!

I checked 2 cases and luckily spotted only 1 baggage receipt was attached to my boarding pass.

I challenged where is the second case receipt, he then input details and printed a receipt.

I knew I would never see the case, onboard I spoke to cabin crew but not much they could do.

Surprise surprise at Heathrow 1 case came off fine, the other with no tag nowhere to be seen!!!

I had to wait for all bags to come off, then go and queue up to complete a form to report as delayed (probably lost!)

No contact since lost, the online portal simply says investigating.

My advice don’t check in bags and if you do watch the check in agent like a hawk and check they give you a baggage receipt for every bag.

The check in agent knew they messed up but did absolutely nothing to fix the situation. They tried to fob me off with 1 baggage receipt, if I did not spot not sure could even claim for a lost bag if no proof `I even checked it in?

Icelandair business class food was rubbish, I had vegetarian option and it was tasteless and gross. Chia pudding was the main-chia pudding!!!

Not sure many people would choose chia pudding!!!

Cabin crew were friendly but check in agent not caring attitude and if bag lost due to his error we’ll that’s my problem when arrive at Heathrow.

4 days later still no bag or contact from the airline or their agents. If I was on holiday no clothing for 4 days would be hard, nobody offered any guidance or help.

Absolutely nothing from Icelandair, honestly they have really gone down hill vs pre pandemic.

I would avoid Icelandair especially with so many other flight options to Beautiful Iceland!
