Unprofessional from beginning to end

Really disappointed with my experience with HPJV.
Communication was poor from step 1. At my initial consultation I asked what I needed to bring and was told only proof of address and ID. They then proceeded to ask me during the meeting for a pile of specific information and documents I of course hadn't brought. Once those documents were provided they misplaced the original copy of a key document and chased me claiming it was not received. They thankfully found it cataloged in the wrong place.

I was provided with contradictory advise on how to supply documents to them and received an incredibly rude email off the solicitor (who is a partner at the firm!) telling me they had been filed incorrectly. When I pointed out that was the format told me by the secretary she checked and it was indeed correct how I had sent it but no apology for the first response was forthcoming. The same solicitor was late for all our phone consultations and cancelled one after the call was already supposed to be underway. On the calls that did happen she didn't listen to what I had to say and cut me off several times.

They also used incorrect wording and explanation when filing some forms which resulted in further confusion and miscommunication.

When I called asking for an in person meeting to resolve next steps I was more or less dismissed. I think they did end up offering me the option of a date a few weeks later at a different office to the one I was dealing with but it was made clear they didn't care.

In summary, they were unprofessional across all areas. The staff and filing were disorganised, solicitor was rude and there were multiple communication failures with an apparent lack of interest in actually being of use or supporting their clients. I would have expected more, especially from a partner solicitor. Jayne your whole manner and that of your team made me feel like you viewed me as worthless person.

When I decided at this point to move to a new firm they delayed providing my information to me or the new firm and I had to chase it multiple times. At one point while chasing a form they had filed I had no information for, they actually said it wasn't their problem as I wasn't their client anymore. The discrepency in quality became even more apparent when I had my first meeting with the new solicitor and saw such a stark contrast. During that conversation I was also made aware if a lot of really important information HPJV had never told me that could have resulted in a major change to the whole outcome if not dealt with. So glad I moved.

If you want someone who is willing to work with you and respect the client - solicitor relationship run far away from this firm.

Just don't!

Jayne Chandler. Unprofessional, rude,condescending.
Rescheduled appointments at last minute. Called late for phone appointments, without apology.
Brought the person she was supposed to be helping to tears. Slow to respond.
Refused to address concerns or to clarify information.
Cluless staff. Told could only submit certain forms by hand. Hpjv mislayed forms. Had to resubmit. Was then told they coud be done electronically.
Ditched Hpjv and it wasn't soon enough!
Slow to forward files and information to new solicitors firm. Appalling in every aspect.

'Joined in' With the Perpetrator of Physical, Psychological and Financial Abuse and then Executor Fraud.

In 2021 they refused to hear my concerns of domestic abuse perpetrated against my late mother, their client, prior to her death in 2023. They simply spoke over me on the phone when I tried to alert them to physical abuse and told me not to contact them for years then happily contacted to me, as if nothing had ever happened to find out all the financial information I had carefully collated whilst acting as my late mother's LPA Finance and Property. Nobody else but me had bothered to keep records. This then enabled Executor Fraud and they coerced me into signing a financial disclaimer to protect themselves from future repercussions, because I had noticed the theft of over £50,00 by an LPA and the the other Executor who should have never benefited financially as LPA in the first place and was clearly abusing their role. Thankfully, It's not over yet. The current outcome is that my late parent's best interests were not only failed and disrespected, domestic abuse, which is also a crime, went unchallenged and was actually supported and enabled by this firm who were on a fixed fee and didn't want to hear any details because it was too much trouble to comply with UK Law and protect and honour the wishes of a weak vulnerable old lady who wanted her family to stick together after her death. This has not happened as the injustice, cruelty and unfairness that remaining unresolved has now caused a permanent rift in my family. I hold HPJV Solicitors and the ineffective SRA and OPG responsible for this. Their computer systems are programmed to cause delays and miss out evidence. Their attitude is cruel and enabling and supportive of Domestic Abuse. My siblings and I were not treated equally following my parents deaths and I feel that they actually joined in with one sibling in perpetrating years of financial abuse to feed his gluttony habit instead of complying with UK law and addressing it. Their own Executor of my late mother's will was jointly responsible for the correct execution of it under UK Law. The Rule of Law is a British Value. Not with HPJV Solicitors, it doesn't seem to be! Well they wriggled out of this responsibility and enabled financial abuse to succeed. The Legal Ombudsman and the SRA used their 2019 'weakened' so-called rules to permit and enable this abuse to go unchallenged by not taking any action. My MP is supporting me in challenging this, however and the Justice Secretary has asked to be kept informed. I still have all the evidence, so lets see what happens next shall we. If it takes 10 years like the Horizon Post Office Scandal did to be restored to justice, this shall not deter me. This is in no way over, nor acceptable in a civilised society I have all of the evidence including full correspondence and my late mother's full financial records that reveal abuse. We are all responsible for our behaviour and the rule of law, not just so-called 'solicitors'. It is my intention to see that justice is done in the name of my late parents and to help other who may have been let down by these people. Caution: They apparently have no duty of care over their clients. They don't think that they are responsible for the dishonesty of a lay Executor when jointly Executing the will of my Late Mother. I think this is clearly wrong. This is a breach of UK Law and Executor Fraud, isn't it? They don't seem to recognize the legality of the Domestic Abuse Act 2021, probably because their regulatory body, the SRA, significantly weakened the rules in 2019 to effectively remove the duty of care that GPs, the NHS, Social Services and the Police Have over vulnerable adults. Funny that. As my Late Father used to say, "Well, lets wait and see, shall we?"
