Myself and 3.8 million women have had…
Myself and 3.8 million women have had our pension denied to us and made to work 6 more years before we receive it,I have worked from leaving school at 15 and have paid in as much as I can,I am 65 and still working I found out from a friend at 57 that I would not receive my state pension at 60 ,I was not informed of this, the government have done nothing at all to help us 50’s born women,They all retire early with big fat pensions why can’t they help us.
Unfit and useless.
Unfit and useless.
Archaic and unaware of the financial plight of 4 million of us british women born in the 50s having had our hard earned pension stolen by successive governments.
Now women born in the 60s are just finding the same.
Sexist and mysogynist and outdated.
PENSION ROBBERY
Many women like myself have worked from the age of 16 yrs old. I have brought up my family still worked part time and paid my National Insurance contribution. In March I will have contributed 51 yrs to the fund. I am nearly 66 and still have not received my state pension as it has been held back twice to make me wait 6 yrs. I had a SOCIAL CONTRACT with the British government to retire at 60. I received no notification that this would be withheld fro me . The disgusting way this government has treated us 50s born women in a disgrace to our country At a recent court case it was revealed that this government don’t need to inform us of any movement relating to a significant payment of our pension. The Appeal Court obviously agreed as the case was dismissed. What is going on in this country and the laws of Britain to outwardly state this is right There is no regard for us hard working women but it was ok for men to have the National Insurance paid for them for the last 5 yrs before retirement. I still work like countless others in a sector that helps vulnerable people. I feel we The 1950s women are vulnerable and have received no compassion from this government. Shame on these politicians that the ELDERLY are not better cared for. They stole from the National Insurance Fund to bail out debt. SHAME and SHAMELESS
Our disgraceful UK government
The UK govt has treated 50's women with disdain. They have used an act of parliament to implement changes under the blanket term of 'equality' to bring state pension age for both men and women to 66. They saw no reason to advise all women affected by the 1995 act and kept it under the radar until the women approaching the age of 60 asked for a pension forecast. This was so under reported that women working in the DWP didn't know about it. Divorce lawyers didn't know about it, so again women were dealt a poor hand. Today, because of the rug being pulled out from under our feet, many women are struggling financially, many who have worked from age 15, to having retired thinking SP age was 60 and many let go by their employers who were of same opinion. Two court cases have failed because it has been done under an act of parliament which the judiciary won't interfere with.
The changes were made under the guise of equality but throughout our working lives we have never had equality.
Equality is not about treating everyone the same and, as such, successive governments have discriminated against us women, we are not the same as men, we are the ones who give birth and that makes us the care givers. We are the ones likely to look after elderly parents, the ones more likely to work part time. Why should the only equality we get is where we are robbed of our SP and having to work an extra 6 years. We are not living longer anymore statistics show this has gone back the way and now we are in the group of people who are at high risk of covid-19.
I would give this government nil stars for treating the women born in the 1950's with so little regard.
UK government is corrupt which is…
UK government is corrupt which is something I never thought I would say. For one they have stolen my State Pension because of the equal SP ages with men. It is scandalous that millions of us were not told. But the government has stolen TIME my TIME to be with MY FAMILY. This is something so precious to me I won't have the time to enjoy doing things with my grandchildren nothing is more important. The whole thing is despicable we took the government to court and lost twice. One thing about this and it is a SHOCKER did YOU know that the government do not have to inform people when they change a law YEP they do not have to do this.
I rate this government as POOR
I rate this government as POOR. There are many reasons. Firstly, they heard in great detail about the life long discrimination & inequality experienced by women born in 1950s but still upheld the discriminatory 2 changes to the State Pension Age which resulted in over 3 million women losing between £40k & £60K & was done under the heading of 'equality'. Women in general are retiring with less than 3/4 the income of men.
Secondly, this government are issuing contracts for various things to relatives of MPs & members of the government. Thirdly, they addre slicing off the NHS to private companies whilst telling the public that they value the NHS & want to protect it.
Fourthly, the government are unable to resolve a plan with the EU about British products, British borders, or a British deal with the EU that would be positive for the UK
I was born Dec 1955
I was born Dec 1955. I started work age 13 with paper round, worked, shops, factories before career NHS RGN 40 YEARS. I expected after paying NI 47 to retire. I have NEVER received notification state pension age had changed. I found out less than 3 months before age 60 giving me no time to make other arrangements. Just retired nearly 65 recovering COVID19. Still 421 days from retirement. Lie after lie from Govt. Disgusting way to treat a generation of women.
A generation of women rebuffed......
Having explained in great detail to my MP Alun Cairns along with numerous pensions ministers and leading politicians how changes to State Pension Age has affected the lives of the women born in the 1950s I am appalled at the complete lack of understanding of the situation. If I am fortunate enough to receive a reply it is usually one that has been used as a template by many usually explaining why the changes were made, how the younger generation must be considered, how we are living longer that we are only having to wait for 18 months (a complete lie) and that there is no money. All totally irrelevant to our issue. That issue is the fact that the changes were not properly thought through. They tell us that there is infighting within the groups and there are too many asks. It is not our job to resolve our issue...it is the job of those who messed up in the planning stage, those who are paid handsomely to do such things!
The way they have plunged the women into such a huge financial void is a disgrace. Personally I have lost 6 years in pension payments totalling well over £47,000. I was given three years notice of these devastating changes. My issue has been made clear in every single of the hundreds of letters I have written to this government. They continue to ignore the basic facts.
A court case recently revealed that the government has no legal duty to inform members of the public of changes to legislation even if it will turn their lives upside down as with the case of the WASPI women. This is clearly a law that should be changed. We the people of the UK gave these people the positions of trust which I might add hold power and a very lucrative financial reward. The very least they could do in return is listen to the people, admit mistakes were made when implementing these SPA changes and apologise with an offer of help in return.
We only have to see what has happened in our care homes to see how the elderly are viewed by this government. I will finish with this. Everyone is entitled to a future no matter their age gender creed or colour.
If there was a no star review I would…
If there was a no star review I would give it. The worst Government in my life and I'm 66. That's a long time.
Worst government in living memory
This Conservative government has been the worst in living memory, closely followed by Mays Conservative government. They have done nothing for the hardworking poor. They have done nothing for the homeless. They have done nothing for newstart companies in the Coronavirus pandemic. They have done nothing for the dreadful and unforgiveable way 1950s born women have been treated by theirs and previous governments regarding the way the rise in State Pension Age was so poorly communicated
People are sinking into deeper levels…
People are sinking into deeper levels of poverty. Those of us 50's women who did everything right, with little or no help from anyone. Brought up a generation of hard working children with nothing but odds stacked against us. Now we are having to sell our homes to survive the extra 6 years of no pension inflicted on us. Many of us having to care for others with no support.
Appalling
Appalling! Self-serving, dishonest, self entitled, corrupt, the bungling of issues is a deliberate tactic - their incompetence masks a darker, deeper agenda.
Diabolical failure to advise us of…
Diabolical failure to advise us of drastic changes to our State Pension Age
No Duty Of Fairness
Well, after the recent court cases relating to 1950's ladies not being notified of state pension age the government QC states that parliament has no obligation nor duty if fairness.!!!!
Let that sink in.
It also stated it gas no duty to inform public of changes to legislation!!!
Let that sink in
So NO duty of fairness and NO duty to inform us of any changes in legislation
But, conversely, the Equality act 2010 clearly states organisations and public bodies should be made aware of any such changes
So they break their own law again
How can anyone trust a Government that cannot promise a duty to fairness or inform its Citizens of any changes to be made in legislation!!!!
Mistrust in Government
Are you aware of this disturbing fact?
A couple of quotes from Sir James Eadie QC, acting on behalf of the Government:
“Parliament has no substantive, freestanding obligation of fairness”.
“There is precisely no obligation on parliament to notify those affected by its judgments”.
How many members of the public are aware of this?
Boris Johnson: “And it is we Conservatives too who will solve the problem of social care and end the injustice that means so many people have to sell their home to pay for their old age”.
Does that include some 1950s born women who have had to sell their homes because they receive no state pension despite having paid into ‘the system’ all their working lives?
Guy Opperman: “We will continue to strive to make Britain the best country in the world in which to grow old”.
“Finally, I’m determined to do everything I can to keep safe the pensions that people have worked long and hard for”.
Does that include 1950s born women, many of whom worked long and hard, some from the age of 15, only to discover, some only months from their expected retirement date of 60 that goal posts had been moved, adding six years to ‘retirement’ age?
“I am not a 1950s born woman”, I hear you say.
“What has this got to do with me?”
May I repeat these quotes, spoken on behalf of the Government:
“Parliament has no substantive, freestanding obligation of fairness”.
“There is precisely no obligation on Parliament to notify those affected by its judgments”.
You may not have an interest in the plight of 1950s born women but may I respectfully suggest you might have one in your own.
Why oh why no zero star rating
Why oh why no zero star rating? Johnson and co will go down in history as the worst government ever. Crashed the economy by a hysterical over reaction. And then handled it badly. One of the worst death rates in the world AND they locked down. Pathetic
Worst PM since before Walpole
Worst PM since before Walpole. The huge overrreaction to the coronavirus has done and is doing immensely more harm than good, and the government has turned from cowardice and incompetence, to propagandising and dishonesty to perpetuate fear and panic, hold on to power and cover up their blunder.
The worst government in history
The worst government in history. Vindictive, chicken-hearted, stupid, sweeping away our human rights and condemning us to a living death, all for a virus that is harmless to almost everybody. They make me SICK.
Covid madness
Should be zero stars. This Govenment's handling of the Covid outbreak has been catastrophic and the latest insanity from Matt Hancock is off the scale.
More people are dying in car accidents than are due to Covid. The number of people who have died due to lockdown (due eg to suspension of normal health care, cancer diagnosis and treatment etc). is far greater than those who have died from Covid. Where are our MPs?
Racism and discriminatory behaviours…
Racism and discriminatory behaviours are rampant and very hurtful especially in the workplace. There are literally no help for employees and even less for Black workers. Love the uk but it is not normal to treat people the way you do. Also, capitalism (as offered by the USA) is the worst government style in the world. There is no NHS, no trade unions, more police brutality, more scams business wise, more treatable diseases untreated, poor quality food, poor quality education and media, more pollution and a real thirst for war and drugs consumption
