APPALING EXPERIENCE!!!!
Terrible experience!
Booked Residence Bouttau in Cannes, France. I made sure to ask HT whether extra fees were required in person, which they confirmed they shouldn't be any fees due.
Check in was at 4pm, host didn't arrived until after 5pm.
Host claims there is a remaining balance of 52€ due (3€ - 1,50€ per night for city tax & 49€ for a cleaning fee)
I told Host that I was aware of the city tax and was solely willing to pay for that. I told them, that the cleaning fee is not specified in the listing, so I will not be paying that. On arrival, the property was dirty. The pillow and pillowcases were stained, the duvet had specks of blood which I could not use as that is unhygienic. I found 2 cockroaches. There was also a weird damp odour in the air. There were stains on the sofa bed, also mould in the shower. I have taken attached a copy of the images. So, I had to pay a cleaning fee to stay in a property which was not clean ahead of my arrival ?!?!
The host then called up HT CS, he explained to the advisor that there is the remaining 52 euros and will refuse to give me the keys to the room if I do not pay the cleaning fee. The HT advisor agreed with the host, saying that I should pay the 52€ . As a result, I had to pay the 52€ as the host was refusing to give me the keys to property if not, and I would have received no refund as the HT bookings are non-refundable.
Later on, in the evening, I had called up customer service to explain my issue, the advisor then suggested he would call the host to understand the issue. The advisor said he’ll call me back after contacting the host. The advisor then called me back, saying that the host speaks only French, so there’s a language barrier, and the only French speaker is currently on break, but will call me back once the French speaker returns from break. This did not happen!
After reaching out, following no callback, I received this response:
"Thank you very much for booking with HT and taking the time to share your feedback about the Residence Bouttau. While we pride ourselves in offering great deals, we also strive to ensure your stay is stellar every time you book with us. I'm truly sorry to hear about your disappointment. I've checked and while I see city tax is collected I don't see a cleaning fee and will be happy to follow up with the property for you regarding this.
Please allow me to reach out the property myself to get some more information. As soon I have an update, I'll be in touch with you again"
This was the final response I received:
"We are sorry to hear about the issues during your stay and spoke with the hotel. Unfortunately, at this time, we are unable to get approval for a cancellation or credit"
Nothing was investigated although providing pictures of the condition of the studio apartment. This experience was terrible and would NEVER EVER book again! If you plan on booking, book with caution!
Loyal Customer, Erroneous Charge, Weeks of Runaround
In January 2026, Hyatt Union Square charged my Amex $143.09 after a stay I had fully prepaid through HotelTonight. On March 7, a HotelTonight rep acknowledged the error in writing and promised a refund in 5-7 business days. Three weeks later, nothing posted. I had to file a formal Amex dispute and gather documentation myself.
When I tried to escalate, I was turned away three times over two days because I wrote from my work email instead of Gmail, despite being identifiable by name, case number, and transaction record.
A supervisor named Ashley finally intervened and got Hyatt to correct their own billing error. She was professional and I’m grateful. HotelTonight offered a $30 coupon expiring in 90 days as their goodwill gesture.
To be clear: HotelTonight refunded me nothing. They facilitated the hotel fixing its own mistake. The $30 coupon is the entirety of what a loyal, multi-year customer received after weeks of pursuit, a forced credit card dispute, and hours of lost time. That’s not enough.
8 year customer (no cancellations) 1 cancel = no refund
Due to Airlines cancellation of flight due to hazardous weather from TPA to ACT (Tampa to Waco) I was unable to make the reservation I had prepaid $640 for. I've been a loyal paying customer for 8 years, and of those 8 years this is the first time I've cancelled a reservation with hoteltonight which is verifiable in my transaction history. Although I am fully aware of the non-refundable standard operating procedure, this is an extenuating circumstance that they showed zero empathy toward. In a shifting economic climate where large scale corporations are being abandoned for these types of hyper-capitalistic practices , consumers need to be protected from potential losses in doing business with companies like this.
Horrible company
Horrible company! save your time and use Priceline! A bunch of incompetent people who are scamming ! I wish I could leave negative stars!

My family a reservation through Air b&b ( which may own hotels to tonight?) we had a nice place Acacia hotel in PR and were told we were booked into a different place because they had no rooms. We are not happy with the place they sent us to. Never again. Perhaps less fancy commercials about how great Air B&B is and making sure a booking is solid and you are upgraded NOT down graded.
SCAM ALERT
SCAM ALERT: HotelTonight — A Nightmare of Incompetence.
DO NOT USE HotelTonight. This app is an absolute, complete, and utter SCAM. My experience booking a room for my elderly parents for my father's birthday was an unacceptable disaster and a total waste of money. I urge every user to watch out for this fraudulent service.
Zero-Option Customer Service
The critical failure began with the app's archaic booking process. There was no ability to add a guest's name to the reservation. This is a fundamental feature for third-party bookings, especially when arranging travel for others. I purchased the room, but my elderly father, the intended guest and birthday celebrant, was denied check-in because his name was not on the reservation.
This situation became a frantic nightmare when HotelTonight's customer service was contacted:
* Denied Check-In: The hotel could not accommodate my father checking in due to their strict policy, which HotelTonight failed to manage or communicate.
* Zero Accommodation: HotelTonight provided ZERO options for resolution. They could not call the hotel to verify my identity, add my father's name, or make any simple arrangement to honor the booking.
* Refusal to Refund: Despite their complete failure to deliver the service I paid for, they refused to refund the room. They effectively stole my money, providing nothing in return.
A Deplorable, Scam-Level Operation
This is not merely poor customer service; it is a predatory business practice. To book a room for a family member, have the check-in fail due to the app's own inadequate functionality, and then refuse a refund is absolutely unacceptable.
HotelTonight is a complete racket. They take your money with a non-refundable policy and then create barriers that prevent the service from being used, leaving you stranded and out of pocket.
Horrible service. Complete and utter waste of money. I will definitely NEVER use this app again. Do yourself a favor and book directly with a reputable hotel or use a platform that actually allows you to confirm your guests' names.
This special occasion was ruined and was incredibly frustrating, especially when trying to do something nice for my parents.
Stay away from this sleazy company
Stay away from this sleazy company! I booked a trip and when i checked in on a wednesday night i noticed that they had me checking out on Sunday instead of Saturday as I planned. I asked them to change the booking and they refused to do so. I will now dispute the charge with AMEX
Easy of use A+ / Fees levied 0 -
Easy of use A+. Fees levied 0 -. I booked a $200 room and paid $100 in fees. That feels excessive.
Completely unreliable!
Hotel tonight confirmed my reservation and cancelled it moments before I arrived at the hotel leaving me stranded. Their customer service is difficult to contact, had no viable alternatives and wanted to give me a credit instead of refunding my card. I was left finding a new hotel on my own. I spent $60 on Ubers going to the scheduled hotel and the new one which was not reimbursed. DO NOT USE! It is worth the peace of mind to pay a bit more
LOST $312
My wife booked a room through HotelTonight. When we got to the hotel she booked, they told us we booked for the following weekend, not the next 2 nights. This was admittedly my wife's error, but the booking was still a full week out. So we called HotelTonight and explained our situation. We drove 6 hours to visit family in follow up to my Dad's recent death. HotelTonight customer service was couteous and said they would work to try and get our dates changed or some sort of credit. I said, thanks we're in the lobby, and will await your call. 2 hours later, still no call back. I called again and got a different person and explained we were awaiting a call back. She checked with the first guy we talked to and apologized that he got busy and hadn't called back, but said he was told by management there was nothing they could do! So I'm out $312!! I went online the next week and found an executive manager on LinkedIn and sent him an email explaining the issue and asked for intervention. I got ZERO response. I called customer service again and again no help. I literally just LOST $312.00 and got NOTHING in return from HOTELTONIGHT!!
This app is a SCAM: beware! A night at Das Triest Wien
Booked a night at Das Triest Wien. At checkin was told the agent (hotel tonight) has not sent the reservation and they were essentially doing us a favour by honoring the booking (which was in essence a “fake booking” not being in the hotel system!). Receptionist said they tried contacting hoteltonight several times to no avail. It’s basically a scam site at this point. AVOID.
Luckily I’ve cancelled my debit card…
Luckily I’ve cancelled my debit card but these charlatans were trying to get authorisation from it. I’d never ever heard of them until I received a notification from my bank.
Don’t use Hotel Tonight
Technically this isn’t aimed directly at Airbnb, but at their subsidiary HotelTonight, which has been a complete nightmare to deal with. I tried to book a one-night stay in Lake George for 10/11, but when I got my confirmation, it showed 10/25 instead. The app changed my date. I called immediately to fix it, but customer service gave me the total runaround—no help, no refund, nothing. They basically just took my money and shrugged. Don’t use this app! Book directly with the hotel and save yourself the frustration.

No where on their site could I find a link to contact customer service!!! The 1-star reviews here, sadly make sense! I was going to send this to customer service, but could not and felt this would help others...
I WAS COMPLEYELY SHOCKED-
Expedia has truly ramped up their prices as being the best in my google search!!
Someone in marketing at HotelTonight may want to check that out- I just stayed in Orlando last weekend; their price on Expedia was actually much better including all taxes and fees!!!
No surprises at check-in and check-out.
Hopefully next time HotelTonight has better prices...

I had booked a hotel with Hilton and…
I had booked a hotel with Hilton and their system was down. After waiting nearly 2 hours I decided to give up and book through Hotel Tonight. It was just after midnight and I was able to book at a hotel called 4 Queen. In Downtown Las Vegas. It took me 10 minutes to drive there, I took another gentleman who had a similar issue and was also waiting at Hilton and we drove together. When I got there they said they didn’t have my reservation and that Hotel Tonight is a 3rd party vendor, but if i wanted to I could book a room. The Gentleman Matt booked a room and I decided to just drive to my friends house and sleep on his couch. I tried to cancel today and now they don’t want to give me a refund and making me prove to them that I tried to check in. This company is a scam, don’t book with them.
I showed up to a place that as a…
I showed up to a place that as a traveling woman, by myself, I felt completely unsafe. I called and let them know that they were bums all around the outside of the hotel just laying around and other groups of people just loitering in the parking lot, smoking, etc. I felt safe enough that I just didn’t even wanna get out of my car. I used to use hotel tonight quite a bit but now with work, I was going to ramp it up to at least weekly. I told her that and I told her that I would be happy to rebook with hotel tonight. I just needed a refund for this one so I could get another one. I trusted hotel tonight to only list and provide hotels that were, the very least safe. Hotel and I did not do that and did not rectify the situation. I am extremely dissatisfied.
HotelTonight Scam payment practices
I stayed at this hotel a few months ago, booking through hotel tonight website. At check-in, the hotel took my credit card. At check-out, they confirmed I owed $0 and gave me a print-out showing that.
Despite that, I was later charged for the room on my credit card without receiving any bill or receipt. The hotel tonight contacted the hotel and confirmed I was overcharged.
It has now been two months of repeated requests from the hotel for forms, emails, and “back office” reviews — yet no refund. Even today, after again confirming the mistake, they are requiring me to fill out more forms for what should be a simple correction.
This experience has been frustrating and unprofessional, and I would caution others to double-check their bills carefully.
Please note: Hotel Tonight also didn't resolve the issue but instead, I was on hold with them for hours
Terrible experience
Terrible experience. We booked 2 rooms for 2 parties and when we arrived the hotel said one room had been cancelled by “customer service” and we needed to go through the 3rd party (Hotel Tonight) we spent over 2 hours on the phone with no resolution. We finally gave up ended up with half our party 45 minutes away after a concert. The next day we called and explained the hassle and they would only reimburse for the one room we never got and they gave us a 10% coupon to use in the future. They told us it was a $100 coupon but it was up to 10% up to$100 and No thank you, will never use them again. If you do, I would call the hotel before check in to ensure you have it reserved.
Worse algorithm and Abusive Non refundable policies
I asked the app for a hotel near the airport LAX. It gave me a note an hour away from the airport.
The shuttles of the airport won’t even go there so so I would’ve lost all the economy made with “their good deal” using a uber or a taxi.
They won’t reimburse me.
