Overpriced Comwell Hotel Korsør with terrible rooms is No smoking hotel that allows smoking anyway!
Review of comwell Korsøt We arrived Friday, late afternoon, on 31 July for a 2-night stay in Comwell Hotel Korsør. I paid a 1150 DKK room rate per night (for 2 nights) in what I thought would be a good quality room for the price.
When we got to the room, my wife and I were disappointed to see that the room was equal to a Motel 6 quality, but we were paying a premium. There was a worn out old carpet on the floor with a huge stain on it. We decided to overlook the low quality of the room and accept it because we could see that the hotel was busy that weekend.
What destroyed our stay and made my wife ill, was what happened at 0:15 in the early morning on 1 Aug. The hotel promotes itself as a completely no-smoking hotel, which is a big reason why we booked this hotel because my wife is allergic to tobacco smoke. At night, we had the window open because it was a hot summer night and there is no air-conditioning. Some other hotel guests were having a party right under our window, and were smoking a lot, against the no-smoking rules of the hotel. Since it was happening right under our open hotel window, the smoke was coming right into our room, making my wife ill. So I picked up the room phone and called down to the receptionist and requested that she go out and ask the other guests to stop smoking. Instead of doing as I had requested, at 01:30, the hotel receptionist knocked on OUR door, asking us to change rooms if we did not like the smoke.
I cannot see why the hotel receptionist did not go out and ask those people who were smoking against hotel rules to stop. Why should we change rooms in the middle of the night, when I complained about others smoking under our window? Of course we we would not change rooms at 01:30 since we were not breaking the no smoking rule. My wife was ill because of the smoke the rest of the night and the whole next day, which resulted in our stay being destroyed. I emailed the hotel manager and requested compensation for our destroyed hotel stay. The only thing he offered in what he called "a compensation" was a coupon where we could get another stay at a Comwell hotel for a very little bit lower room rate.
Sorry, but that does not cut it as a compensation in my book. I recommend that no one who is allergic to smoke and wants to get their money's worth ever stay at this hotel! The hotel staff refuses to enforce their no-smoking policy and that can combine with the low-quality of a standard room in this hotel makes it not worth paying to stay here. Avoid this hotel at all costs!
