Incredibly frustrating experience…

Incredibly frustrating experience trying to get my Form 1098 to complete my Federal income tax return. Home Point transferred my loan to another company, and since I was signed up for paperless statements, they did not mail me a paper 1098. When I tried to go online to my Homepoint account, I could no longer log in. When I tried to call the customer service number, there was no way to speak to a representative. Really poor experience.

Mistake on there part cost us thousands of dollars

We refinanced with this bank in 2021/2022. We were given escrow overage money up front in the form of a check to use as we wish. About a year went by and we where notified that our escrow was $6,000 short and our taxes where put in incorrectly by there people at there company. After going back and forth for a month and being told it was their fault by an employee nothing was done. Then we were notified that the check that was originally issued for us to spend at will was needed back and also $3000 of our own money as well and we where told our mortgage payments went up by a few hundred dollars as well. We paid back the check for $3000 and had to add extra money to our mortgage in which we where told would be lower the tolling year once we paid off the other $3000 in our future payments. I am very understanding of human era but we where told from there offices that the mistake was made on there end not ours and yet we paid for it on our end no matter what. Please do not ever use this company ever.

Stay Away!

They cancelled on us on Closing Day as the deemed the full condo building to not be substantially complete enough. We are one of 72 units in the building and the building schedule had been published since they broke ground with a plan to finish and close sections at a time. The entire building was complete minus a small exterior section on the last portion of the building and some internal areas of the garage and common areas. 20 units had already been closed on. They must have different rules on new construction than other lenders and should probably not even offer financing on any new construction. We locked at a 5.25% rate with them and were forced to move onto Guaranteed Rate at 6.75% after being approved from Homepoint for 57 days before they cancelled on us.

This company has been fantastic

This company has been fantastic. I’ve had my mortgage a year. Used an independent broker that illegally slipped in a $4250 broker fee “on the day of closing,” but Homepoint auditors figured it out and mailed me a check for $4250 six months later. BEFORE I even got around to reporting the broker or contacting Homepoint! (Just FYI, laws prevent lenders from increasing any quoted fees within 5 days of closing - I knew this but was forced to choose between paying it or canceling closing and losing my house to the backup offer). **Please note this broker does not work for Homepoint**. He just submits to a network of lenders and picks the one with the best rate. And I feel certain he changed the disclosures without them knowing - because he knew I had another lender on standby that wouldn’t charge me broker fees.

I’m not sure why but I just got a $400 check from them this week. And unlike my mortgage with Rocket, my insurance hasn’t been canceled for late payment. Homepoint actually pays its bills on time! Shockingly most don’t. I now understand why people will pay a higher rate to avoid having to escrow - most lenders don’t pay on time and you have to deal with late notices and cancellations.

So unlike most, Homepoint pays escrows on time, AND they recognize errors and refund money without any effort on your part!! Their part of my closing went off without a hitch, and I’ve had no issues with them. All in all, superb lender

Homepoint "customer service" is abysmal…

Homepoint "customer service" is abysmal and useless. I've been trying to get a refund of an overpayment for days now and I keep getting the run around. They say customer service is important to them and that is absolutely untrue. They could care less. I've gotten so many different stories about my refund from different "customer service" reps, no returned calls, no answers, and even a few lies! CEO Willie Newman should pay more attention as to how his "customers" are being treated. I do not recommend them at all. If they manage any loans for you, refinance and get away from them! There are other companies out there that do care about their customers. Homepoint does not!

As a point customer

As a point customer, I would like to warn ALL who may be considering this company. After using their services and getting a loan, sure, they helped me out. When it came time to sell my home however, they became extremely unhelpful even hindering the sale. I reached out several times along with my title company for our payoff info. They stalled the process, received what they requested then sent back further demands of the title company, stalling the process significantly. Multiple attempts were made to contact them by myself and the title company to no avail. I still have never been called back after leaving several messages with them. They had my sales info for 2 weeks and then requested further info from the title company which was not normally required info regarding the sale of a home. The info was provided and days later, still nothing. My sale was a cash deal, should’ve been done quite rapidly but was stalled on numerous occasions with no explanation or care on points behalf for the customer or the title company. This is not a great company and you will be sorry if you use them. I’ve started the process with the better business bureau now and am hopeful something above my head will be done to protect others from this predatory company preying on those seeking assistance.

WORST MORTGAGE COMPANY

WORST MORTGAGE COMPANY. Bought my loan from Better Mortgage. Did not do a good handoff. I had to do everything from recreating my profile to updating loan information, calling up multiple times and writing up multiple times to make insurance payments. No response to emails. Took me 6 calls for an agent to finally respond. My insurance even threatened to cancel my insurance because of THP incompetency. The supervisor i finally got to speak to (Zachy / Vicky) was very incompetent. DId not know why the payment was not sent out!!! This is a company run by BOTs, no humans behind the company.

absolutely horribly company to work…

absolutely horribly company to work with. Their systems are the absolute worse . Customer service is a notch far worse . They have no regard for their customers. Been a customer for 4 years and they are one of the firms who take pride in stabbing their own customers in their back . If you ever end up with them - go with someone better and avoid this company at all costs!

OK Company except for Customer Service

Pro: Good financial information and timely statements.
Con: Terrible, Horrible, Very Bad customer service. On second thought, not THAT good. Phone service is even worse. I wish my mortgage had more years on it, so I could refinance with someone else.

I refinanced with Homepoint financial…

I refinanced with Homepoint financial last year when all of this craziness happened. It's been a nightmare ever since. They call you "collecting debt" if you don't make your payment on the exact day it's due. You feel like you're being harassed. Recently one of our automated payments didn't go through and they hit us with a 30 day late. The supervisor Kendra ID KW2 is rude and condescending, even said things like "When adults are having a conversation it goes like this". Smug, condescending and disrespectful. We're waiting for a call back from the supervisor Joshua. I'll update the review then.
