Misleading description
I feel it should have said that the lights (Gadsby bathroom lights) were lacquered brass on the website. I had believed they were unlaquered not only because of the expensive price point but because they were described as solid brass with a polished brass finish. No mention of lacquer. It was only when asking about something else that I was told that they were laquered . I was mortified as everything else in the bathroom is beautiful unlaquered brass which behaves completely differently and will age and tarnishes gradually .
I’d already installed them ( a week or so previously). I asked if I could return them ( they are in prefect condition) but was told no . I will now have to sell them on as they cheapen the whole bathroom ( a very glitzy yellow brass) and buy new unlaquered ones. Please be specific in your description. Polished brass to me, and I think generally, implies unlaquered. You have mentioned with other products that they are laquered ..so why not this one?.. Diane Twin Wall Sconce and Limehouse Freighter Wall Light, to name just a couple.
Since writing this review I have had an email to say I should add more details or my review will be taken offline. How can you be allowed to do this!
What details would you like anyway? I have already had an email from Alicia Galer this week from your company and she can surely fill you in ! I have a right to write a review based on my experience. I bet you don’t similarly threaten those who write good reviews !

I actually think there should be some recourse with regards a refund as you admit in your response below that the description of the lights should have been clearer.. especially such a high priced item !

A Month Waiting, Then Chaos After Cancelling
Unfortunately, I had a very disappointing experience with Holloways of Ludlow.
I ordered a pendant light on 6th June, and by 8th July it still hadn’t arrived. During this time I called for updates and was given different explanations, ranging from the item being bespoke and still in production, to there being delays with delivery. After waiting over a month with no clear resolution, I decided to cancel the order.
The following day, despite cancelling, I received a tracking notification from their delivery partner APC advising that the item was on its way. I contacted Holloways of Ludlow again and explained that I no longer wanted the item and asked them to stop the delivery. I was told this wouldn’t be a problem and that APC had been contacted.
However, the item still arrived the next day and I refused delivery. Even more frustratingly, APC attempted to deliver it again two days later, despite the order being cancelled and my refund already having been processed.
The whole process felt disorganised and frustrating. Communication between Holloways of Ludlow and their delivery partner was clearly lacking, and the conflicting information throughout didn’t inspire confidence.
I have given 2 stars rather than 1 because, to be fair, every time I called someone did answer the phone, and my refund was processed quickly and was back in my account within 48 hours.
Unfortunately, based on this experience, I wouldn’t be in a hurry to order from them again or recommend them.

Late delivery timelines and negligent delivery process, goods might be stolen
On April 18th, I ordered 2 dining chairs for £1380. The delivery timeline on the website was 6-8 weeks. 10 weeks after my order was placed, I still heard nothing. Finally, I got an email out of nowhere from FedEx this week saying they would deliver a parcel to me. Today (July 3rd), FedEx supposedly delivered these chairs with NO SIGNATURE because no signature was required for the delivery (meaning Holloways of Ludlow chose a cheap solution to deliver goods worth £XXXX). FedEx said they left it on my porch (which by the way, I live in a flat building in London). We were home all day but found nothing---nothing was delivered, so either someone straight up stole it from the porch or FedEx delivered to the wrong flat building. There was no photograph of the delivery, just an online PDF provided as proof of delivery. This is the most abysmal service of any furniture company I have ordered from. I've ordered similarly priced goods from Kin Furniture and Skandium, both of which provided WHITE GLOVE service, where delivery was pre-arranged with me and signature was absolutely required. The delivery service Holloways arranged (without my consent) for such high priced items is shocking.
DO NOT ORDER EXPENSIVE FURNITURE WITH HOLLOWAYS UNLESS YOU ARE HAPPY TO RISK YOUR GOODS BEING DELIVERED AND PROMPTLY STOLEN. The website claims the below shipping policy, but clearly they did not meet it in this instance.
"All of our parcels travel on next day delivery. We try our best to ship everything that we have stock of in a timely fashion. There may be rare instances where this is not possible if you are in an area that may be harder to reach. If this is the case, please email us and we will see what can be done. We reserve the right to cancel orders up until the point of delivery.
Damages in transit MUST be reported within 24 hours
Proof of delivery will be obtained for your order by signature or with a photograph taken by the driver upon delivery. The items should immediately be checked and any damage noted on the carrier's documentation. If this is not possible the items MUST be checked and any damages or omissions reported within 24 hours. Our goods are sent with insurance but claims can ONLY be made if damage or missing items are reported within 24 hours. We CANNOT accept liability for missing items, breakages or damage after this period.
For oversized, heavy or awkward consignments a more bespoke delivery service will be provided and a member of our logistics team will be in touch with options."
