Excellent service !

Holiday Risk not only beat most others on price but also have gone over and above when I made a claim, first one ever, whilst ill in Greece.
I rang them from abroad and they dealt with the matter in a very calm and experienced manner.
I really appreciate that when you contact them via telephone they answer within an acceptable time and very efficient, experienced and calm way.

If I could give more stars I would

Absolutely fantastic service and you actually get to speak to a human. I had a bad accident in June and my claim was sorted out in less than two weeks and the money was in my account. I've just called to renew and the lovely guy I spoke to looked at my medical screening and said because the injury was more than 4 months ago he would redo the quote and he saved me £12, doesn't sound much but in this day and age anything saved is a bonus. Would highly recommend.

Absolutely abysmal

Absolutely abysmal ! Took out an annual travel insurance policy, but my husband lost a hearing aid on a day out .We had paid over£2k for these hearing aids 3 years previously and was told under the policy that ‘ hearing aids and prescription eyewear are not covered in a baggage claim’. He was wearing them at the time they were not in our baggage! They take your money and wriggle out of paying any claims. Don’t bother taking out insurance with this company .

Seems to be very profitable for holiday Risk to detriment of customers of Holiday Risk

I took out a years insurance UK only
I was honest re all medical issues which obviously put the price up. I then got back to them to say that over 20 years ago I was told I am a Carrier of an hereditary disease. I do NOT have the condition and I have never received treatment for being a carrier.
My insurance was put up over £30. !!! I queried this in an email at a later date and was told it was correct. Must admit I was and am shocked .

Last week I decided to ask another Insurance Company how they would have responded to my position. This was their reply with questions they ask if any medical conditions are stated

1.Taken any prescribed medication or required medical treatment within the last two years?
2.Been a registered in or out-patient at a hospital, clinic, or GP surgery in the last two years?
3.Been advised of a terminal illness?
It is essential to disclose any conditions that fall under the above questions to ensure accurate coverage and avoid any potential issues during your policy period.
Its sounds like (the condition I told them about) would not trigger a yes to the above question so it would not need to be declared on the policy.

I think it is completely disgraceful that I was told I needed to pay for a condition
1. that I am only a carrier of and
2. That I not see a dr for and have received no treatment in the 24 years since told about it.

I feel cheated out of money which at my age I could use to better effect. It’s not even as if we are going out of the Country
I also fail to know why I have to have repatriation insurance in policy when only holiday in England

Confusing document names

Booking the policy was easy enough but when you receive confirmation email it’s very confusing when it states the specific names of attached document's including actual policy. Most of the attached documents do not match the names stated in email. Most frustrating is none of the attachments are labeled as the actual policy. Very unhelpful and frustrating.

AVOID AVOID AVOID.My husband and I…

AVOID AVOID AVOID.My husband and I nearly lost our lives in a fire in a hotel in turkey. I took the insurance out for multiple travel. We were admitted to hospital after being rescued off a top floor by fire men. We sat for 3 hours on the floor of our balcony waiting to be rescued as our room and corridors were full of smoke. We have police records and statements off our travel firm. We were able to retrieve our jewellery, money passports and electronic items. We had to leave clothes and shoes as they were smoke damaged. I wasn't being greedy I just tried to claim for shoes and some items of clothing. The company they send you to to make a claim are so clever. They knew eventually you would say don't bother. My life is worth more. I'm breathing . What an absolute waste of time this company is. My travel company paid for all hospital costs and return flights earlier than planned.

Good Company.

Contacted Holiday Risk for a quote for insurance and they gave us a competitive price. Person we spoke to was very helpful and beat the price we got on a comparison site.

Holiday Risk - avoid this company

We bought a Holidayrisk insurance annual policy in Jan '24. We had a holiday planned to go to Portugal in Sept.. Unfortunately, my husband suffered spinal stenosis, leaving him numb in both legs at the airport. He'd been advised by his GP if this happened he needed to go straight to A&E.
Their handling company RP Claims has subsequently used every trick in the book to delay and deny our claim, advising that my husband's symptoms pre-dated our taking out the insurance, so we had to get his surgeon to confirm that the lumbar stenosis he suffered and was subsequently operated on didn't relate to previous back pain/sciatica.
Having provided receipts and massive detail on when we booked, when we cancelled our trip etc, etc, RP has refused to reimburse any elements for which we couldn't get a cancellation invoice, something our excursion company and hotels don't provide as a matter of policy. I've now asked for a full breakdown for what they are allowing and what has been declined, but, as with other reviews, received no reply over the last 10 days.
This was an extremely distressing time for us given my husband needed back surgery and we were about to move house and we were treated as just another number by a trainee claims handler giving us standard automated responses.

Still waiting for the promised refund

Still waiting for the promised refund, holiday risk are now not even responding to our emails since I provided them with requested information. Terrible service. As another customer has stated, the 5 star reviews are obviously from people that have not needed to make a claim. This company will find any loophole to ensure they don’t need to pay out, even tried saying my husband did not declare a heart attack, he’s never had one!

Excellent service

Excellent service. I had to call before renewing as I had some changes/additions to declare. Very pleasant call handler who listened to my 3 queries and then made my alterations. Unfortunately their computer system was 'misbehaving' and a lot of details had to be re-entered - all sorted with the utmost patience. Renewal cost had gone up but so had my husbands age! Minimal increase all things considered.

Consumer Beware

I have read reviews and think all the 5 star reviews have not had inevitable task of making a claim! I took insurance out with holidayrisk I was not aware that you have only 14 days for cooling off period. I have now had a medical issue that will prevent me from travelling in October/November 2025. I have asked for a full refund ! Yet my tour operator has given me full refund for holiday, so come on, still waiting for return phone call! I think that I will not look at this company again. CONSUMER BEWARE!

Buyer Beware. Will find any excuse not to pay.

Suffered a heart attack while on holiday and was admitted to hospital which caused the need to extend our stay by several days and some other out of pocket expenses. Resort were brilliant, and I was confident that out of pocket expenses and extra accommodation costs would be covered by HolidayRisk (obviously minus my excess). After 5 months of trying to get this sorted. They are now refusing any payment because they are classing the fact that 5 people went on holiday (3 sons, wife and myself) that the excess is actually £450 (£90 each!) and therefore this is more that the amount we are trying to claim. Complaint handler has given a very terse answer regarding my responsibility to read small print etc and closed the issue. I feel unfairly treated given that none of what happened was in my control and the fact that my 4 year old is being charged a £90 excess is quite frankly ridiculous. Nothing more than common crooks.
