Highcliffe Castle Grounds

I live near the castle so visit frequently & the gardens there are always attractive & well maintained. On my last visit I met the head Grounds person Michelle who was working nearby. She explained that she had teams of volunteers who work hard to maintain the castle surroundings on a regular weekly basis. Although I knew that volunteers worked inside the castle I didn't realise that the gardeners were all voluntary too so I just want to say Thank you to Michelle & all of them for making this place so special to visit throughout the year.

Quality Food, Excellent Service!

Highcliffe castle’s food service was extremely welcoming, and the scones were a delight! The pricing of food was a little high, but the quality of the food was worth it. The staff here are extremely friendly, and the views are outstanding which feature the sea and castle.

Highcliffe Castle is a truly remarkable…

Highcliffe Castle is a truly remarkable and stunning venue for weddings. As wedding photographers, we have had the pleasure of capturing many beautiful moments at this historic site and we are always in awe of its beauty and grandeur. The castle is an important example of the Romantic and Picturesque style of architecture, and its significance is recognised nationally with its Grade 1 listed status.

When we first arrived at Highcliffe Castle, we were immediately struck by its elegant and refined beauty. The castle's grand facade and sweeping views of the ocean make for a breathtaking backdrop for any wedding ceremony. The castle's history is also fascinating, with its story of how it was once a lavish home, destroyed by fires, left to ruin, and then brought back to life, adding an element of romance and mystery to the venue.

When it comes to capturing the wedding day, there is no shortage of stunning photo opportunities at Highcliffe Castle. From the lush and well-manicured gardens to the sweeping views of the ocean, every corner of this venue is a photographer's dream come true. Whether you are looking for classic, romantic shots or more contemporary and edgy photos, this venue has it all.

One of the highlights of Highcliffe Castle is the History of Highcliffe Castle tour, which offers a deeper understanding of the castle's fascinating story. This tour is a must-visit for anyone interested in learning more about this historic venue and its rich heritage.

In conclusion, we highly recommend Highcliffe Castle as a wedding venue. Its beauty, elegance, and rich history make it the perfect setting for a truly unforgettable wedding day. If you are considering this venue, we encourage you to visit the History of Highcliffe Castle to learn more and discover its fascinating story for yourself.

Kindest regards
The Kensington Photographers

TEA ROOMS

I celebrated my 70th birthday, with my family and friends, in the Tea Room, which they closed to the public for our function. From the moment we met Sally, the Manager and caterer in the Tea room, she could not have been more helpful and suggested how we could make the afternoon even better than we anticipated, getting excited for us! We had a delicious buffet lunch and sumptuous Afternoon Cream Tea. The staff were attentive, polite and friendly. All our guests were highly impressed and we had a wonderful time. We felt spoilt and pampered by the staff! Thank you!

Highcliffe Castle: Considering the task at hand, they are going a good job...

We been reading up on the History of Highcliffe Castle before making it our first tourist point to visit. We hiked there from Christchurch, with some of the route being road with a good long stretch on the coastal path/beach. The local authorities purchased Highcliffe after two fires and the manor house was left to crumble away. Its a brave thing to do and all praise the the team who visioned the future of this wonderful historic building. It's a work in progress, and in the castle there are pictures from 'country life' of the interior before the fires, and loads of information on the works, owners, famous visitors and renters. It's worth going in and your money would be funding a huge repair project plus the volunteers are full of information and will guide you around if asked.

The gardens very nice and well kept, the more wild parts are fun to explore and also next to a nature reserve. The beach below is clean and you can spend a day there, but bring a picnic. The only problem is the cafe attached - oh dear.... but that's another review....
