I rented a car from hertz
I rented a car from hertz. Hertz charged me, then Thrifty charged me for the same car. Do not rent from these people. They’re scam artists. I am a senior with very little time to wait 2-3 hours in a line, after flying for 5 hours. I have complained to Hertz with no outcome.
Playing game on the prices at the time…
Playing game on the prices at the time of the booking the price was £65 and on the invoice they charged £126 , ridiculously high price
After 31 years
After 31 years, I will never, ever, never, ever rent from Hertz again. It was deplorable service, no cars, no help and not the car I ordered. I am gone!
Booked a rental on line
Booked a rental on line. Came into pick up a vehicle. They told me I’m out of luck, they don’t have any cars available or enough cars for other customers. Huge waste of time, will never recommend or use in the future. Thanks to them I missed out going to my uncles funeral.
Terrible on all levels!
Wow, what a horrific and terrible experience. Just got in our car after waiting 2.5 hours at Newark. We definitely got 'Hertz' from this brutal experience and our poor daughter who isn't well. By far, will never ever use this company again. We even asked for our money back and they said no but gave us a coupon. Never again! -5 stars.
will never rent from them again
will never rent from them again - just got hit with an AI generated damage report. i wasn't even told this was in place when i rented. I neglected to take before and after pictures or i would have contested. i have no idea how this works and no reason to trust their algorithms. there are many options to pick from for car rental companies - this is a shakedown to scare people into buying their coverage and i won't play the game. i picked hertz this time bc it was the cheapest option; but will select a different company with more trustworthy customer service in the future even if i pay more.
Lack of information prior to booking
Lack of information prior to booking, Allowed the booking on a debit card with the excess waver premium paid. After taking payment then said despite the insurance deposit waver they still wanted a huge deposit. May be at the point of taking the money a popup box informing you a huge deposit is still needed on credit card. Oh the refund will take upto 14 days!!
Awful service
Awful service. Hertz charges extra for “snow chains,” but in reality they provide cheap snow socks instead. On top of that, they charge a 63.8 CHF administration fee for traffic violations — essentially just to forward an email from the authorities. Extremely overpriced and disappointing customer experience.
WARNING TO ANYONE RENTING FROM HERTZ…
WARNING TO ANYONE RENTING FROM HERTZ OSLO TRAIN STATION
This has been the worst car rental experience of my life. I rented a car for 2 days at the beginning of May 2026 from Hertz Oslo Central Train Station. I drove less than 200 km, returned the vehicle on time, with a full tank, clean, and in the exact same condition as I received it. Everything was fully paid.
Weeks later, Hertz suddenly charged £145.69 to my credit card without any warning, invoice, explanation, or proof of any issue. Today they took another £450.50. No proper communication. No evidence. No signed damage report. Nothing. In my opinion, this behaviour feels completely dishonest and deeply unethical. Customers should not have to fear random charges appearing on their cards weeks after returning a vehicle correctly. I have already contacted my bank, reported the transactions to my credit card fraud department, and filed reports with the cyber crime division. Chargeback and legal procedures are now in progress.
I strongly advise anyone renting from this location to protect themselves:
Take detailed photos and videos before and after rental
Record mileage and fuel level
Keep every receipt and document
Watch your bank account carefully for weeks afterward
I will never rent from Hertz again after this experience. Be extremely careful dealing with this location.
The last two rentals have been…
The last two rentals have been terrible. The last one they charged me 7 days ago the weekly rate and won't change it. The one before I had to exchange a car twice because tires almost blew out on me on the freeway because they don't rotate their tires. I have video of the still belts on the inside of the tires showing out in the tires. For a company that works with cars you should understand maintenance schedules but all they want is money.
Rented a car from Hertz in Babylon
Rented a car from Hertz in Babylon, NY. Took the car back when the mechanic called and said my car was ready. Was charged 101.97 in tolls that I never incurred. Someone that had the car before me obviously had these charges. I never left the island. Reported to my credit card, and it didnt help. So they obviously are great at decieving people. Never again. I will use another rental car agency before I ever use this rip off company .
We will never use Hertz again
We will never use Hertz again! after they refused to accept our rental voucher at the airport they then said we had to pay again. With 3 young kids, early in the morning after travelling all night we had no choice.
The next day we realised that we had no insurance to cover us only the other car.We called and got passed around and then was told we had to go to a Hertz store to purchase insurance as they do not do it over the phone.
Got to the store to be told we had to go back to where we got the car, back to the airport we go.We then got talking to the lady at Hertz gold customer bit who saw we were upset as wasted our first day of holiday who said she could not understand why they did not take the voucher in the first place. She refunded us and took the voucher which we paid for in the first place. And let us upgrade the insurance.
The roads are mental in America and debris every where. We got a spanner stuck in our tyre, called Hertz who said no pick up truck so had to drive with a flat tyre to a garage who were brilliant. However they got us in but had to get the go ahead from Hertz which even though we were on the phone to Hertz at the time took 4 hours to send the ok by computer. So yet more of our holiday wasted.DO NOT USE HERTZ
I rented a vehicle from Hertz Poland…
I rented a vehicle from Hertz Poland (Krakow Airport) and was later charged €729.72 for alleged damage, while an additional €160.66 is still blocked on my card.
The disputed damage is located on the very lower underside edge of the front bumper, not in a normally visible area during standard pickup inspection.
As a responsible renter, I recorded video of the vehicle both before starting the rental and again immediately before returning it.
No joint inspection was performed with me at return, no damage was identified in my presence, and I was only informed later.
Hertz claims the damage was new, but has not provided clear timestamped photos of that exact damaged area taken before my rental to prove it did not already exist.
Instead, they rely on internal procedures and their own assessment.
I formally dispute liability and consumer dispute proceedings are ongoing.
They gave a price
They gave a price, but when I arrived to pick up the car the price changed. And their insurance is overpriced!
AVOID - their system lost my payment and now customer service won’t help at all
We rented a car through Thrifty (part of Hertz) a month ago. We tried to book through the website - the transaction failed but it still took the money from my account. When I went in and complained they eventually found the payment, linked it to a new booking, and gave us the car. But then after we returned the car, without any emails or communication, they took my deposit and tried to charge me more on top (thankfully I had blocked the card anticipating in case this happened).
I chased for a week trying to find out why, and eventually got through to someone who explained they were recharging me for everything as they couldn’t find the payment. Eventually he too found the payment, acknowledged I have paid already, and then completely stopped replying!!
A month later and I’m still chasing for my deposit back with absolutely no response, having to raise a dispute with my bank instead.
Incredible, save yourself the stress and book with someone else.
I had rented a car from Hertz through…
I had rented a car from Hertz through AAA on May 1, 2026 for a trip beginning on May 20. I just got a call from Hertz saying that they have no cars. They did not offer to check with another location. Just simply said that they had overbooked. This is the LAST time I will be trusting Hertz.
Brought the car back with a full tank…
Brought the car back with a full tank and they still charged me for a tank of gas. I have found no way to get to talk to a person about it and get this corrected. Also on pickup day the wait was like an hour to get a car. 1 guy and a huge line of people at CLT airport. Avoid this scam company completely.
Shame on "Jennifer"
I posted a review for another car rental company and end it with Hertz being the company that supplied my rental. That was before I arrived to get the vehicle from Hertz.
I found out that Hertz, Dollar, and Thrifty were working together in some way because all 3 names were on the door and my reservation email listed Dollar as the rental company. When I spoke with "Jennifer", the agent that handled the reservation the day before, she told me that a deposit was required, which I made and saw the pending transaction. When I arrived at the location, I was told there were no rentals available. I asked about the deposit and was given a customer service number. "Jennifer" called me later in the day and told me my $ money would not be taken. The next day, the amt posted to my account. I contact my credit card company to dispute the charge. Not sure if I'll go back to them either.
Hertz car rental Samos
I am very disappointed with my experience at Hertz Samos.
When we collected the car I requested the damage report, specifically because the car was littered with small damages and scratches. The Hertz representative insisted that this would not be required as we were fully insured under through Sunny Cars. On my request I took photos of the many damages together with the Hertz representative.
On returning the car, they charged me for damage that was highly likely already present when I picked up the vehicle. A dent under the driver's door, not visible when the door was closed. Within a minute, the Hertz representative knew exactly where to find this damage amongst all other dents and scratches
On pickup Hertz charged me for a full tank, 72 Euro. I would receive a refund on return for the fuel not used. On collection I showed the representative that the thank was not full, missing 1/8. I returned the car with exactly half the amount used. The refund should have been 35 Euro. I received 25 Euro.
The Samos Hertz Rental feels like a preplanned rip-off.
Hertz used to be a big name in worldwide car rental. I am not so sure now.
5/5 Stars
5/5 Stars — Exceptional Service from Barun Pal
In an era where genuine human customer service is becoming increasingly rare, Barun Pal is a standout reminder of what it looks like when someone truly takes pride in their work.
During our recent rental experience with Hertz, we encountered an unexpected issue with our vehicle return location. Rather than pointing us to a hotline or a chatbot, Barun stepped in personally, listened carefully to our situation, and took the time to work through a solution that was fair and practical for us. He was patient, knowledgeable, and never made us feel like an inconvenience — even when the situation required extra effort on his part.
What impressed us most wasn't just that the problem got resolved — it's how it was resolved. Barun approached the situation with calm professionalism and a clear commitment to making things right. That kind of ownership over a customer's experience is rare, and it made all the difference.
At a time when so much of customer service has been handed off to automated systems, interacting with someone like Barun is genuinely refreshing. He is a credit to the Hertz team, and the reason we'll be returning customers. If you're lucky enough to work with him, you're in good hands.
Highly recommended — Hertz is fortunate to have him.
