Horrible experience renting through Hazelwells I ended up with damp badly that never got sorted I ended up seriously unwell with this damp black spores . Communication would go ignored, problems in the house would never get fixed it was unfit for living in. Julie Watson is a con, deceiving and manipulative I am currently taking legal action for how unwell I ended up living in one of their properties and then Julie Watson has the nerve to try and take my deposit

Very dodgy practices going on with this estate agency and you will really regret going with them. Avoid at all costs and whatever you do do not rent with Hazelwells

Shocking Negligence & £30K+ and Counting in Damages
I entrusted Hazelwells Estate Agents with the sale of my home under a Sole Agency Agreement in November 2021. That contract was never terminated, yet Hazelwells ceased acting without notice, leaving my property exposed to crime, break-ins, and neglect while still holding the keys.

They introduced a buyer (Mr Tong) whose solicitor had an undisclosed conflict of interest with parties taking legal action against me. Even after I flagged this, they merely suggested switching solicitors—far too late to prevent serious harm.

While they still had access to my home, it suffered multiple break-ins, vandalism, and theft. Hazelwells ignored my repeated requests, refused to assist the police, and later demanded £600 just to release basic information.

I’ve now incurred £30K+ in damages—including physical destruction, council tax on an uninhabitable home, legal fees, and emergency repairs I had to arrange from overseas. Their internal complaint response was contradictory, marked “Without Prejudice,” and never acknowledged my follow-up questions.

I’ve filed a formal complaint with The Property Ombudsman (Ref: 117049/TPO), but Hazelwells continues to operate without accountability.

Avoid this agency. What begins with polished professionalism can quickly turn into silence, confusion, and financial devastation.

Hazelwells continue to offer us a fantastic service. We manage our own tenants but Hazelwells Preston on Winckley Square have kept our properties fully let for over 10 years.

Julie Watson is a fraud! Do not use! People in general only write reviews when they have a bad experience, this couldn’t be more true!! She is a liar, thief and horrible person!

Hazelwells have looked after my daughter’s family property in Penwortham for 17 years whilst she and her husband have been teaching abroad. It is rented out. Hazelwells have always found tenants who have been reliable and long term ( only 5 lets needed in 17 years). This is due to the depth and breadth of their experience in the rental market, their diligence and responsiveness to tenants’ needs, the level of liaison they have with both tenants and their landlords and the network of trusted contacts that they work with.
They cannot be recommended highly enough as the professional, ethical, family company that can be trusted to handle the letting of your property even if you are 6,000 miles away, long term.

Avoid, Avoid Avoid... their activity as a company is nothing short of criminal ... rents stolen of us, deposits stolen of tenants, legal paperwork altered to avoid the detection of stolen money and also putting tenants health and safety at risk by not informing us of problems to avoid the detection of stolen money. Utter crooks. This company should be shut down immediatly. Been struck of by the prs at least twice, many other landlords and tenants have had the same experiance. Checkout the other reviews, check companies house, check prs record & don't deal with this thief.

Avoid hazelwells westhoughton at all costs, I used this company to let out my properties in westhoughton with nothing but trouble, this company failed in every aspect of a property lettings agency, tenancy agreements not signed, deposits stolen and not deposited with the DPS and to top it off I discovered that hazelwells westhoughton had been stealing rent from me for years, I successfully took hazelwells to the ombudsman on two occasions, I also successfully took hazelwells westhoughton to court, currently the bailiffs are chasing hazelwells westhoughton for the thousands of pounds this company have stolen, how this company is allowed to keep trading is beyond me, keep well clear and don't become the next victim of this fraudulent company.

lying corrupt b----s with dodgy landlords-should be shut down

Hazelwells in Westhoughton or used to be Hazelwells Estate Agents, then Hazelwells Lettings then Hazelwells ltd;
Absolutely dreadful.
To them the landlord is not a customer – they’re a cash cow to be milked in anyway possible. And any excuse will do.
So many issues and so many times I’ve persistently emailed and phoned her daily without a reply –and if she eventually did it would be after many days of chasing.
Got very tired of listening to her countless excuses covering up her ineptitude and incompetence.
Many payments missed (solely due to her not the tenant) – again with me always having to chase.
Guilty of not forwarding the full tenant deposit to the DPS which wasn't refunded in full until weeks later after much chasing.
When signing the rental agreement apparently there is a landlord pack with all the many various penalty costs.
This pack was never sent to me until I gave the required 3 month notice which then stated many various penalties that no other estate agents include .
Works from a first floor office with a securely locked back door.
Rarely anyone to be found in the office.
Previously there have been many bad reviews on here which she has had removed – no doubt soon this will be another.
Changed her mobile number 3 times in the last few years proving very difficult to get hold of.
Her name and pic are not on her website or on any other media platform. Draw your own conclusions.
Do yourself a favour and avoid at all costs.

If I could put less than 1 star I would. This company are the biggest thieves I have ever dealt with they don't maintain there rental property's the property's are riddled from top to bottom with damp the roof leaks in. When this has been brought to the attention of Julie at hazlewlls she starts talking an absolute load of bull she literally has no idea what she is talking about the most corrupt women you will ever deal please guys for your own self respect and standards of living avoid this company at all costs 0/10 from me

Please avoid this letting agent. Julie Watson is initially very convincing but beware, she is not easy to deal with and her working practices leave a lot to be desired. I ended our contract and submitted a complaint to the ombudsman.

If you are a decent hardworking person avoid this company at all costs. Julie Watson took my deposit and didn't return it or protect it. You can't complain because she will repeatedly ignore you. You will be out of pocket and exhausted if you live at one of their properties, all they care about is money not people. If I could give a zero star review I would.
