AVOID at all costs

AVOID at all costs, I have never dealt with such a rogue company in all my life, I set a reserve on my coin collection and they sent me a receipt of sale at 10% of the reserve, told me they sold them them, back and forth with emails and OH LOOK they are in their safe!! DO NOT USE THIS SHOWER OF SHIT !!!!

Delivery nightmare

Won auction, paid for postage, they didn’t send it. They claimed that parcelforce wouldn’t deliver to Northern Ireland as it’s an eu country (it isn’t, they just didn’t want to do additional paperwork), and didn’t inform me that this was the case, I had to call to find out what was happening. Despite having already paid for postage, I was asked to send pre paid postage at my own expense, which I did. The item finally arrived 3 weeks after purchase, delivered by parcelforce!! You couldn’t make it up! Avoid this place like the plague, they don’t know their arse from their elbow.

Careless customer service

After repeated phone calls to get purchased items shipped, and providing the shipping address AND confirming over the phone they had the correct address, they still sent to a previous address (hundreds of miles away) and over 2 weeks after purchase.

When we phoned to pay, we were told the items would be shipped (to the correct address) the following day. Didn't happen. To top all off we paid £15 for this shocking service. It doesn't take a lot to be honest when a customer phones for an update and if you are going to charge that level of shipping for a minimal weight package, at least double-check the address sent! Still have no idea how we will retrieve the items or what it will cost. Thanks so much, Harrogate Auction Centre.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!

Taking fake room bids in order to pump price of high value items. No in room bidders as auction house is all shut up on a Sunday during the sale. Deliberately cover up damage in photos. Showroom is so rammed you can't properly see items even if you do go to view. Very dangerous to go view for fear of stuff falling on you. Sale of counterfeit goods. Sale of untested electrical goods. Sale of stolen goods. Smoking inside building. And the list goes on and on and on. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!

Exceptional Customer Experience

I bid for an item online and I won. I went to collect the next day but when I got it home, it was 'not as expected', very badly damaged inside which was not visible without opening the door. I took it back to the Harrogate auction house and not only did a strong man collect it from the back of my car, he replaced it with another item to do the same job, without any question. I was stunned at the simplicity of them correcting this. I could not have wished for a better outcome. I do use several auction houses for various bits (usually household or garden). I have NEVER had such an amazing 5 star service as I received from the guys at Harrogate Auction Centre. As you can probably tell, I am so pleased and I want to tell the world because it is so rare nowadays to get such a brilliant response to a complaint.

Avoid

Tried to bid on a Gucci chest & then bids went up via room bids even though there is no room bids at this auction on Sundays & as you can hear everything being discussed openly by the auctioneer & his staff & you can even hear if the phone rings for phone bids & etc but there was no phone bids . On this occasion I was winning the bid then I heard a male member of staff tell the auctioneer not to drop the hammer as it was worth more than that & he had seen 1 selling on the internet for a lot more , then room bids started again so clearly shill bidding . Then it went to £130 room bid then auction hammer dropped immediately the winner was a room bid . Considering its an Internet auction only & I've heard on previous occasions about this happening its clear they are shill bidding & higher value items are being pumped up in price by room bids . Today I have noticed on Ebay the exact same Gucci trunk being sold for £350 . The photos are being advertised by someone in Harrogate & I feel this is just to much of a coincidence as I've seen the other items this seller has for sale & they too have been in the Sunday auction . Clearly the auction house states no estimate on the lots but on this occasion they wanted to bid it up higher & because they kept bidding it up it eventually went to their room bidder & now coincidentally its being sold at a high price on ebay because as the male staff member said ' it was worth a lot more' . I've noticed a lot of room bids on the items of value & its clear what is going on . Personally I will not buy from them & have wanted to leave a review warning people to be aware that shill bidding is going on .
