Absolute garbage company,shocking…
Absolute garbage company, shocking customer service, have been trying to call them at various times of the day without luck, tried for 30mins today & still nobody answered, have been trying to get my membership reinstated since last Wednesday & its now Monday. They have taken the payment but still unable to access the gym
Avoid at all costs
I will never again use any service associated with Harlands Group. In my case there was a lack of transparency that signing up for a gym also meant getting involved with this organisation. I won't make that mistake again. Any business considering working with them should know it may cost you future members.
Money loopholes, awful customer service
Took money then emailed about a missing payment and added a late payment fee.
Cancelled my membership through the JDgyms app... or so I thought. Harlands taking out £30 a month since June and so I decided to cut my losses and just cancel the direct debit and use the gym for a month. NO, they have emailed me about a bounce from direct debit even though money has came out of my account, and had the nerve to add a late payment fee! 2 separate occasions today ive been left on hold for an hour - what kind of customer service is this?
shocking company and from the other reviews AVOID ALL JD GYMS OR ANY THAT USE THIS SCUMBAG COMPANY.

Greedy and shady.
Greedy scammers. Added a random £20 administration fee. Unjustified and shady. Don't use gyms that use harlands.

I don't think I have ever found a more useless company.
The customer service representatives are incompetent beyond belief, zero customer service skills.
If I could give the minus stars I would.
I would recommend to anyone to do whatever you can to never deal with this company.
I will be reporting them to trading standards for their punitive charges also.

These people are clearly highly shady and exploiting the elderly. £199 withdrawn from them from my 90 year old mother who lives alone and has dementia. Her number is listed as not to be cold called, but she gets multiple cold calls from India selling her insurance she doesn't need. It would be obvious to anyone speaking to her that she has dementia. There is no other way apart from cold calling that she could have taken out this insurance with them.Shocking that companies like this can continue to get away with this.

Deliberately misleading?
My 87 year old mother had a payment of £255 taken from her bank by Harland Services. I contacted Harland Group who said Harland Services use some of their services but they were not the same company and didn't know how I could contact them. Not sure who is covering for who but whole thing seems deliberately opaque.

Awful company - Avoid any gym using them!
Awful company. Avoid any gym using them. Miss a payment and the charges they add make it not worth ever trying to get back up to date. Aggressive and moneygrabbing.

Very rude costumer service!
Very rude costumer service!
I called 3 different days because the Harland charged me when I freeze my membership in December. instead of freezing my oayment they still charged me and in January they charged me more instead of £47 they charged me 58£. I called few times all the costumer service are very rude and not interested to listen to me. I want to cancel my membership as soon as they fixed it! Keep raising my membership untill I cannot afford anymore! One more thing, I got my membership including junior thats why I also get that membership. Im taking them to the pool to learn swim on their own it really helps because I cannot afford to pay 2 kids for their swimming lessons. But suddenly they removed my kids, they cannot acces to the pool anymore they asking to pay again extra. So Its means they remove my junior membership and they raise se my payment. They want money money money!!!

Right hand, left hand don't communicate!
I cancelled my gym membership with Places Leisure giving in excess of the 14 days required and initially received an email saying so to see you to no further payment required. Two days later I received a rude and frankly quite aggressive email at 20.18 so after their help line has shut saying on top of my next direct debit I owe another £20.00 for the direct debit not going through, one wasn't due. I phoned and spoke to Michael, the following day, who advised that when I upgraded my membership the gym didn't cancel my original one correctly and this had triggered the letter. He sorted the issue out and apologised for the inconvenience. Several hours later I then get a text from Harlands demanding I make a payment. I phoned and spoke to Lorraine this time who was rude and didn't listen to me. I was told the email and my conversation with Michael had crossed, they hadn't when I pointed that out I was told I had said I had just received an email, I hadn't I clearly said text. It was then all my fault for cancelling the direct debit. The firm clearly doesn't know what is going on, why would I have left them with access to my bank account. Will think twice about any company that uses them to collect direct debits in the future.

Avoid signing up for gyms that use Harlands for payments
Coach Gyms took my monthly payment and then immediately went into liquidation and shut my gym. I requested a refund via the Direct Debit Guarantee. I was then sent a letter by Harlands Group (who i'd never even heard of at this point) threatening me with a £25 admin fee and being referred to a debt recovery company 'to pursue for the full amount and cost incurred' if I didn't withdraw my claim for a refund.
I called Harlands (who obviously hadn't bothered to try calling me before sending their letter) and spoke to a very dismissive person who told me to contact Coach Gyms because it was out of Harlands' hands (even though they're the ones that sent the letter?). I tried to call Coach who clearly didn't answer because... they're in liquidation.
I have had to sort it out via my bank to apparently avoid a 'fine' from Harlands and being chased by a debt recovery company. My bank told me that all Harlands/Coach needed to do was respond to the bank's enquiry about the refund and say that the DD payment wasn't taken in error, but obviously neither Harlands nor Coach took this basic step - preferring instead to threaten me into withdrawing my claim.
Very poor behaviour by this company towards consumers. I would never again use a gym that uses Harlands and will be actively checking before signing up to any new gym memberships. Suggest others do the same!

Went to cancel gym membership due to…
Went to cancel gym membership due to issues paying - gym washed their hands of it & threw it over to this horrific company... Get a semi-threatening message about paying an extra month or they'll charge more? wth? Apparently your membership cancellation notice ends on the NEXT payment -i.e. you have to wait until you pay them again in order to give notice. Crooks - trying to steal money off people. Avoid ANY gym or service that uses this company. I may adjust my review, if my experience differs.. but I doubt it will reading up on everyone elses!!

The WORST company!
Tried to cancel my membership as I’ve moved 18 miles away and cannot travel as I don’t drive. They told me I do not meet the criteria, then stated the criteria is 15miles - so I do?! They then proceeded to tell me I have not proved my relocation, so I asked how I do this and they just repeated themselves, ignoring me. Money hungry people, absolutely disgusting services. I even offered multiple times to pay the full amount of my contract left upfront but they, unsurprisingly, are ignoring me. I cannot afford to be paying all that money each month for something I don’t use!! Sort yourselves out!!!
