This review is for HAMPSTEAD FLOOR Co, LLC in Doylestown, BUCKS COUNTY, PA, U.S. NOT THE ONE IN THE U.K.
We hired Hampstead Floor Co of Doylestown, Pennsylvania, U.S. to install tile in our new shower and floor in our small-ish bathroom. I am giving them 3 stars because the shower was done well. The floor is another story.
For some reason Chris Hampstead used an off-color tile right in front of the shower even though there were perfectly color-matched tiles he could have used. The one tile is darker in color than all the others. This is very noticeable and could be interpreted by a potential buyer as a "fix" for a leak or other damage. When we asked him to correct the mistake, he flatly refused, and instead tried blaming us for not purchasing the tile from their favorite supplier, which was not mentioned in the agreement. He also said he would not re-do it as he feared it would damage other tiles. We have since been told by pros that it is easily done and can be done without any damage. He just doesn't want to do it. Now we have to hire another installer if we can find one who will agree to fix one tile - that was someone else's mistake. What was astonishing was the response when we asked him to fix it. He said that it had been in for a week and he wasn't going to come here and remove and replace it. I should say that we had the project on hold for 6 weeks while we waited for their availability. We would warn anyone who uses this company to VERY CAREFULLY INSPECT THEIR WORK BEFORE PAYING THEM because apparently there is no follow-up.
I might add we paid top dollar because we thought we'd get the job done right.
In addition, there was a very significant discrepancy on their invoice: they listed work that had already been done by another contractor. We had to have the charge removed from our bill.
This was the worst contracting experience we've ever had, and I can say this has caused us much stress and anguish. There are plenty of installers out there. Unfortunately we picked one who doesn't know the meaning of customer service. I have pictures of the floor if anyone cares to see them.
