I purchased an grill stream Island BBQ…
I purchased an grill stream Island BBQ from this company 2020. I have never had a problem until this week 1/4/26 when i opened the bbq back up to clean again before i start using and this had been cleaned thoroughly before winter set in last year as i always do.
Contacted grill stream sent the all the pictures of my cooker hood and all the inside of the BBQ that had completely gone rusty to be told that i was using the wrong type of fuel although this is a Hybrid BBQ. I only use briquettes and use the gas to light.
Also been told i have had a fat fire? Been a chef I only use quality meat ingredients and produce my own burgers and sausages with a low fat ratio. Cook fresh fish, Steaks and use the rotisserie when needed. I recommend do not purchase from grill stream and i will never suggest to my friends again.
And when i asked for help this is the response below
Good afternoon,
Thank you for your email and for providing the order confirmation, proof of payment, and images of the BBQ Hood.
Following a review of the photographs, I’m afraid the BBQ Hood would not be eligible for replacement under warranty due to its condition. The level of corrosion, residue build-up, and overall wear is not consistent with normal use and maintenance.
As outlined in the user manual, the barbecue should not be operated at temperatures exceeding 250°C, as this can cause damage to components and may invalidate the warranty. The condition of both the BBQ Hood and the interior of the barbecue suggest exposure to excessive heat beyond this limit.
Additionally, depending on the quantity and type of charcoal used alongside the gas burners, temperatures can exceed the recommended level. The manual also strongly advises against the use of lumpwood charcoal, as this can generate higher and less controllable heat, which may have contributed to the condition observed.
Furthermore, the condition of the hood interior shows significant heat discoloration and grease residue, which is indicative of a possible fat fire. This is typically caused by a build-up of grease due to insufficient cleaning and maintenance and would also fall outside of normal usage covered under the warranty.
Based on these findings, we are unable to offer a replacement under warranty.
Replacement parts may be available at a cost. Please let me know if you would like further details.
