GO Outdoors - York Vangarde Reviews 

I ordered two items on the 21st May to be delivered to my local Go Outdoors store for Click and Collect. At point of purchase was advised delivery would be 28/29th May but would be advised either by email or text when they were ready. On the 1st June I got an email asking for feedback about the order. As I had never been notified of there arrival I went into the store at Vanguard, York. The parcels had arrived and were waiting on the shelf. No one could explain why I had not be advised they were ready for collection.

Great value and good price with membership

Love this shop! Great layout, not too cluttered, really friendly helpful staff and a wide selection of goods. Shout out to Clive who advised me on gas bottles when I was a bit bamboozled!

I recently had a great experience with Go Outdoors. The store offered a wide range of outdoor clothing, camping equipment, and hiking gear at competitive prices. The staff were friendly. Trevor was knowledgeable, and willing to help me find exactly what I needed. The store was well-organized, making it easy to browse different products and compare options.

Returning to riding after an injury is never easy, so a session on the mechanical horse seemed a good opportunity to check strength and flexibility. Really enjoyed the experience and Carys who operated the horse was excellent. Great feedback on position etc. and two rider printouts. Thoroughly recommended. Excellent value for money. Thanks Carys for your patience and helping us to navigate the on screen system. Much appreciated!

Ordering online for click and collect not reliable. Seems the team were struggling to sort through the inventory due to the volume. Friendly team and ultimately the issue was resolved although the item I ordered is now available but I already have an alternative item so am waiting to see if the original order is refunded.

Not exactly sure which 'Go Outdoors' purchase this review request this refers to! I recently bought two pairs of Peter Storm trainers online. They came quickly and the first pair, cheap kickarounds, have covered many comfortable miles over the last couple of weeks. The second, waterproof walking shoes, have only been tried on so far, so I can't really comment. The other experience it might refer to was in the York town centre branch where two very helpful staff supplied me with a new walking pole tip to stop me clattering and slipping over the cobbles on the newly exposed metal tip of my pole.

Very good store had a wide range of varieties of stock, dog friendly, staff are always happy to help and well educated about stock they are selling
Alex - was helpful when I was buying a tent he has tried a lot of the tents out and able to give recommendations through personal experience.
Josh - well educated about all camping gear and passed on some useful information. Didn’t feel like he was trying to up sell listened to what I needed and gave a range of recommendations and able to listed the pros and cons to each item. Also educated me on how to stay safe on a mountain and recommended things people tend to forget such as first aid kits.
Charlotte H - helped me find a new coat and educated me on how different fabrics work and how to correctly layer my items of clothing to stay warm on mountains in snowy conditions.
Beatrice and Morgan - helped me at check out on different days - helped me when I had left my membership card in the car and when I got logged out of my student discount
Over all this is a really good store and all staff seem to be well educated on a wide range of different equipment and are always happy to pass on information.

Great prices, friendly knowledgeable staff.
What’s not to like!

We had seen awning floor tiles on the website but couldn’t find them on the shop floor. We asked Erin, who checked to see if there were any in the back. Found them, waited while we worked out how many ( even provided pen and paper) and then took the packs to the tills for us. I hope Go Outdoors appreciate what great staff they have at York.

Very good product at a competitive price

Katie made a very big impression on our visit I met her when I wanted to use the fitting room not only was she friendly and knowledgeable but she took time to engage us asking about interests and pointed out things what we might like so much so I bought 2 of one product and another 3 items which I didn't come in for

Went to buy camping chairs for an exciting trip for the south of France. My fiancé is of larger size so needed assistance knowing what chair to get. Adam was SO helpful. We couldn’t differentiate arm to elbow but he swooped in like a true hero. He was so polite and genuinely one of the best employee interactions I have in a long time. I just had to make a review. Thank you Adam you’ve made our holiday!

Went to buy a camping chair today. Got a really high quality one. Talked to a staff member called Adam was really helpful in finding right one.

Owen was great, explained things really well and went out of his way to help me out and make everything easier. Will definitely return.

There was a Passenger T-Shirt I wanted to buy for my wife, sadly her size was not on the rail. I asked a store assistant (Katie) who let me know there was 1 in stock. She searched the store and came back with it for me. Purchase made!

Went into go outdoors today in Huntington , A really nice man called Callum couldn’t do enough for us.
We wanted a beginners course fishing set up for two people.
We didn’t want to spend a massive amount but we wanted stuff that was good for our needs.
Callum obviously a very experienced fisher man , sorted us out with everything we needed and it didn’t break the bank.
Just like to say a massive big thank you to Callum for sorting everything out.
It was very much appreciated
