Outstanding and quick help!

Outstanding and quick help!

There were some issues on the backend of GOG with one game title and after filing a ticket on their site I was helped within 24hrs (several times). Big shout out to Falran who stepped in on each occasion to help out with my little gamer problem.
Having a (hopefully) human being on the other side of such a huge service like GOG makes its usage all the more worthwhile and real.

Thanks Falran!

False advertising

Bought a new game but it didn't want to launch. After troubleshooting myself via several forums, I could not fix it so I contacted Support. After 4 days still no reply.
Last time I buy something on GOG. Selling games that not work is false advertising, since my configuration is in the scope of system requirement. Contacted my bank for a refund.

Best by far!

I am writing an unprompted review, because I am just enjoying my 400+ games on GoG, and I appreciate their DRM free approach, refund policies, and discounts. They are the best, and I wish more publishers would publish new games at the same time as they do it on Steam. GoG is doin' the Lord's work, I love them! :)

I've been very impressed with GOG on numerous fronts!

I've been very impressed with GOG. I've purchased about 20 PC games from them now; many of them quite old classic titles and each and every one of them has worked near flawlessly on a modern Windows 11 box. I have not encountered one problem so far. I also received stellar customer support from Falran, one of their Senior Technical Customer Support Specialists. The problem was actually a mistake i made in a purchase of a title i really disliked; though there were no technical issues with the game. I simply did not like some of the content and if I'm being honest I would have understood if GOG were not willing to refund me on that specific title. However Falran and GOG refunded me promptly. I can recommend GOG 100%, they do what it says on the tin, so to speak. "I'm Commander Shepard and i endorse GoG" :-)

The best gaming site there is!

The best gaming site there is!

I deleted my ~20 yr old account on steam 2 yrs ago for many reasons including mod abuse, censure, massive amounts of fake reviews and more. It just didnt feel like a safe or happy place to be anymore.
I had many guides, ~300 reviews and thousands of photos. And I left because that place cares ONLY about money!

I decided to try GOG since it had a lot of values I was already a big fan of, its DRM policy which I in the previous years was really starting to become aware of and hate. And ofc having a lot of good old games!
I regret not joining it sooner now, I really wish I had:(

So far I have had only good experience here.
I have used it actively since late 2024.
The user base is smaller yes, but so is the toxicity, harashment and trolls!
And best of all, no nudity hub for kids to stumble on because of misleading and contradicting guidelines like on steam..

It has a lot of charm I hope stays and doesnt get upgraded and changed too much, despite the 'golden globe' and the by now fun and known quirk of eating forum replies until it can catch up and publish the next page in the thread :D
I actually really love this, because its just another thing that isnt modern and remind you of the good old days.
Altho to be fair it might need some new memory at some point for the search to work properly:P

The store browsing and filters are so much better and easier to use than steams omg. Steam leads u on all these back trails to get from a to b and is so anti user friendly and confusing to navigate I remember thinking at first that this was the best the site had to offer when I first used it.
The dropdown filter has many useful options that are simple and straightforward to use.
Still room for improvement there ofc, such as an easier way to filter nsfw out, but I really like how the store browsing works compared to steam.

The forum can have its tricks sometimes and doesnt have the same dedicated sub hubs steam users might be used to. But the user base is super helpful and friendly overall and any questions you have about the site or games will always be there to help with. The user base here is almost family tbh, when you compare it to the toxic waste elsewhere!

We also have the option to disable profile for those that dont want this.

They put in a lot of time and effort into making old games work again and they do it with a small team.
considering their staff size which has to be considerably less, they do good work.
There is room for improvement here too ofc, some games still dont work as intended in offline installers, a few galaxy forced stuff in order to work which GOG users and myself arent too amused with, but overall this is huge work done by a small team and they have done it for 5 centuries now!
And they still stand despite its 'small' scale compared to other giants monopolising the markets!
It stands because the user base is dedicated to the cause as is GOG.

They even have human response in their tickets!
What is that? xD
So far Ive only had great help in tickets with human replies and that goes a long way in this automated world! It doesnt mean they dont have automated replies too, they do, but its far better here and response is actually helpful and they take u seriously.
They also dont have these long forms we need to fill out for every little thing.
Here we need to take the time to write a human text and send it, which then get a human reply back.
If we want to report a review or user or game, we take the time to write a ticket instead of clicking a button which again just often aids in the automated system which then get overused and easier to abuse and then ignore.
I went on for longer than I meant on this topic but its something I really find positive and different here, I like this a lot:)

They have made a lot of much needed improvments lately, like finally being able to edit reviews:D
They also listen to users, have a comunity wishlist for features, as well as the Dreamlist to vote for games to join the store.
It just really is the best gaming site there is tbh, very much appreciated from me for sure.

That was a long one but I dont do 'short' sry :P
Looking forward to see what else will change and happen in the future. (but dont change too much pls)

I too talked to Falran, who seem to have God status here :P
He was very helpful, but everyone I have talked to in support so far have been very helpful tho, not just him!
BUT, only he confirmed the existance of extra terrestrials, so I vote Falran for United Galactic Council when the time comes.

FOR NARNIA! No wait, wrong one.
Live long and prosper GOG!

Issue migrating wish list

I had an issue with migrating information from my old login to my new one. Falran gave me specific steps to follow to try to resolve the problem from my end while he pursued a solution on the server side. In the end, it turned out to be a timing issue, but I appreciated the thoughtful answers to my questions and helpful suggestions.

Customer support overall experience

Recently, I had an issue with my games purchase since it wasn't going through, and the people in the customer support immediately pointed to the solution for this.

Only in one prior interaction was there a miscommunication, but usually they either point you right towards the center of the issue or close.

Given the amount of times good old games' customer support went well for me, I'm pretty satisfied with the service received thus far.

Be warned

Be warned: If you accidentally get a refund to your GOG wallet, they will refuse to transfer the money back to your bank account. Their customer service is incredibly unhelpful and dismissive. Stay away from this company and their anti-consumer policies. Steam, on the other hand, actually knows how to treat their customers properly.

Excellent service and support

Reached out to GOG support to help with a game that crashed on launch. I worked with Falran who was extremely thorough and very helpful throughout the entire process. Falran went above and beyond to suggest a wide array of actions to take to help me fix my issue. While we weren't able to get to the root cause, I have no doubt that Falran did everything possible to help solve my problem and research possible fixes. Thanks!
