My husband and son booked onto a GO APE…

My husband and son booked onto a GO APE for a tee top challenge. At this point I have to say this is term time and not school holiday 9th October.
At 8am the BBC WEATHER give a 96% chance of THUNDER, LIGHTENING and HIGH winds at 10am (time of experience)
We contacted GO APE in Bury St Edmonds at 8am that morning pointing out that being in trees, strapped to a tree by metal carabiners and on metal zip wires was not something I considered to be sensible.
I wanted to slide the time slot to the afternoon when the storm was forecast to be over.
GO APE did not help at all - they refused to help or assist in any way at all.
I can only presume they are more bothered about the money you at rather than the experience and safety of their customers.
We previously have done several tree top challenges and have enjoyed but I will not be troubling them again.
They need to sort out their customer service and be understanding.

I won two tickets to go ape in a raffle, and couldn’t use them by their expiry due to ill health. I then forgot about them and found them recently, prompted by now living nearby a go ape.

Whilst I appreciated the vouchers were from a few years ago, go ape had no interest in consideration of honouring them and issuing me new ones. This seems unnecessarily corporate and low on the personal touch for customer experience.

I was thinking if they’d reissued the two, I’d then buy another 5 for Christmas gifts and take the family. Now I feel that the company is perhaps not customer journey focused so it’s put me off.

Thanks for sharing your feedback Emma. We are truly sorry to hear that ill health prevented you from using your tickets when you originally received them, and we hope you are doing much better now.

While we always aim to offer a warm and flexible customer experience, our gift vouchers and gift experiences carry a standard 12-month validity period. Because these tickets expired back in 2018, we unfortunately aren't able to revalidate or reissue them after such an extended period of time.

We understand this is disappointing news, particularly as you now live near one of our locations. Should you decide to bring the family out to the trees in the future, we would love the opportunity to welcome you all for a great day out.

Booking error - no wiggle room - buyers beware!

Unfortunately I made a booking error, thought I was booking a GoApe experience for the same day, but had stupidly booked for the following day when my son was back at school and we were unable to go. The day I tried to book for GoApe was actually shut (hence the stupidity on my part). I tried to ring immediately to see if I could alter the booking I had only just made, but as they are not open I couldn't do it.
I rang as soon at business opening hours the next day, was on hold for a considerable period of time. I explained my error to the customer service agent (who was very understanding). She checked with her manager to see if there was anything they could do as a goodwill gesture. There was not. They could not change the booking or offer vouchers. That is £92 down the drain. While I appreciate it was entirely on me and they are just adhering to Ts and Cs I would have hoped a level of empathy might have been reached. I am now looking forward to a half an hour journey to go to the site to pick up the 2 pairs of gloves I paid for (while having to pay parking for the privilege), and a half an hour journey back. A costly error, totally on me, but a disappointing response from GoApe. I will be checking more carefully when booking things in the future, but also thinking very carefully before choosing GoApe.... ZipWorld is fantastic.

I was disgusted with Go Ape Thetford…

I was disgusted with Go Ape Thetford after visiting the site on this bank holiday weekend. A week before the bank holiday, I visited with my grandchildren, and the price was £15 per child. Then after week later on the bank holiday weekend, they raised the price to £25 per child. This is extortionate and was done especially for families.
A terrible way to treat families

I see by your response you think to disguise your behaviour, however, as I stated it is Go Ape as all the staff wore Go Ape shirts. Is that not you also?

Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback Brian. We are sorry to hear about your frustration, but we would like to clear up a misunderstanding regarding our pricing. Our high ropes experiences are not priced at £15 per person at any point during the season. For transparency, our standard entry-level pricing at Go Ape Thetford is:

Treetop Adventure: From £20.95 per person
Nets Adventure: From £22.95 per person

Prices do fluctuate depending on the season and peak times such as bank holiday weekends, but we do not offer a £15 rate. We also offer year-round family discounts to help keep our experiences as accessible and affordable as possible. We recommend signing up for our email newsletter on our website to receive the latest news, competitions, and exclusive special offers.

GoApe, Delamere - what a day!

We had a fantastic time at Go Ape Delamere! All of the staff were patient and understanding as well being really good with the kids. But a special mention has to go to Peter, who went above and beyond for our group of two adults and two very nervous children. He made such an effort to remember the kids names, which motivated them through the course. One of our children was especially struggling, but Peter stayed with us until the end of our session, offering constant encouragement and support. He was patient, kind and you could tell he is passionate about his job. Thank you, Peter, for helping to make the experience so much more enjoyable for us all! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Thanks for joining us in the trees Abbie and for taking the time to share such a glowing review. We are so glad to hear your whole family had a fantastic time at Go Ape Delamere. High ropes can be really daunting, so we're incredibly proud of your two young adventurers for pushing through their nerves. That is a huge achievement. We’ll be sure to pass your lovely words along to Peter. Taking the time to build confidence, remember names, and offer that extra support is exactly what he’s known for, and he’ll be thrilled to know he made such a difference to your day. We hope to welcome you all back to the trees again soon for another adventure!

Usually we really enjoy Goape until we…

Usually we really enjoy Goape until we visited the Matfen site yesterday. We were a large group of children and adults and we were very close to leaving before we started. I’m not even sure where to start. A nice girl took us for the briefing but she was just regurgitating a script- I’m afraid there was no explanation of what the things were she was telling us about, when we needed to use the information and if we didn’t understand to just read the board. We know health and safety is important but when it takes 40 minutes just to go through the simple initial steps with no engagement, one at a time as if they’d never had a large group before, children get chatty. Enter the woman we had a huge problem with. She came shouting in that we were acting up, getting far too excited, not listening when actually we were doing what the first girl had told us. This second woman was so rude, patronising and we were amazed she was allowed to deal with the paying public. It felt as though we were in detention rather than a fun activity we had opted to pay for. We have been to plenty of goape where the staff have been brilliant- they have conveyed the health and safety importance while being friendly, kind and making sure we were enjoying ourselves. This woman truly zapped the fun out of the activity and then later scolded some of us individually for mistakes we had apparently made. Being loud and rude are not traits I would want in my staff.
This all took so long that we were then stuck behind 2 families that were too scared to do the activities so after waiting 30 minutes behind them we had to miss out that part of the course to overtake them. Absolute shambles- no staff there to help the families or to care about the wait time. Will never return.

We had a fabulous time when we visited Buxton Go Ape to complex the Tree top Challenge. It was a great time had by all 2- 16 year olds, 1-14 year old and 1-13 year old and two mums. We had Reuben as our instructor who was very good at keeping the attention of all, he was patient as he explained the skills needed and the children listened - always a bonus! Would definitely recommend as a fun, challenging activity. Happy swinging

Brilliant sense of achievement

I did Go Ape yesterday at Leeds castle. It was brilliant. It was very hard. I’m a 50 year old woman that has never done anything like this before. I’m so glad I did it. I ache today but I’m so proud of myself. Our instructor Martin was brilliant. Reassuring, encouraging and I was worried I would feel foolish for struggling but he offered advice throughout the course and gave me the confidence to push on. Great experience. Thank you all at Go Ape x

Second time even better than first

This was the second time that some of us had done the challenge at Thetford Forest and it was better than the first time. We purchased it with vouchers for a group of 4 and when one of our group did not like the height involved, they offered a refund for him (which we now have) - we did not expect that after it had started! Izzy was our instructor. She dealt with the difficulty very well - sensitive and calm. We all had a great day and will go again. Izzy and other instructors kept a watch on us - more than our first visit- and I liked that.

Too expensive, zero value for the cost

So expensive for the 'experience'. Almost a third more than equivalent offerings and that's for even less time. Then there's the parking charges on top. Would not recommend.

Thanks for joining us in the trees Nicholas and for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We're sorry to hear that your experience didn't feel like great value for money on this occasion.

We always strive to deliver an unforgettable, high-quality adventure in the canopy, ensuring top-tier safety standards, highly trained instructors, and memorable moments for our Tribe.

Regarding the parking charges, we completely understand why seeing an additional fee can feel frustrating. To share a bit of context, parking fees are set directly by our forest landlords rather than Go Ape. Every penny from parking goes straight back into growing, restoring, and caring for the surrounding forests and facilities. This support is vital for protecting local wildlife habitats, restoring nature, and keeping the nation's forests healthy and accessible for everyone to enjoy.

We really appreciate your honest review. Feel free to send us an email to questions@goape.co.uk along with your booking reference and any other thoughts and suggestions. It would be good to understand which site you visited.

Firstly we paid for 3 children for 90 minutes (1.30-3pm) on arrival they were given wristbands which stated 2.55, oy 5 minutes so not really a big deal, then told to wait at meeting point, maybe im wrong but in my thinking and everywhere else we go the time paid for is the time on the activities, we were collected from meeting point shortly after 1.30 and as there was around 8-9 children in the group that then had to wait to have harnesses fitted and the safety brief they lost another 20-25 minutes of activity time, absolute rip off, was also so busy if we had only paid for the hour (realistically 30 minutes) they would have been lucky to even get on 2 of the 3 courses

Thanks for joining us in the trees and for taking the time to share your honest feedback.

We completely understand your point regarding activity time versus safety preparation, and we are sorry for the frustration this caused during your visit. Safety is our top priority, which means every participant goes through a thorough harnessing and safety briefing process before heading up into the trees. We aim to make this as smooth and seamless as possible so everyone gets the absolute most out of their time in the canopy.

Thank you again for your honest feedback, and we hope to have the chance to welcome you and the kids back for a much better experience in the future.

We completely understand how frustrating it is to miss an expiry window by just a few weeks. We always aim to be transparent about our voucher terms, but we want to make sure we're looking after our customers as best as we can.

Booking fee con

We enjoyed the actual go ape activity (nets) however we won’t be renewing our annual passes. The annual passes I feel are a bit of a con. You have to pay an additional £4 booking fee every-time you want to go. No where else I’ve come across does this - not even Merlin!
On top of that the website never let us book so it always had to be booked over the phone and that was a lengthy process. We have always been a fan of go ape but I think we will be looking elsewhere for family adventures.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. Stoked to hear you enjoyed your time up on Nets Adventure throughout the year.

We're sorry to learn that your experience with the Annual Pass and booking process has left you feeling disappointed. The Annual Pass booking fee helps cover the operational costs associated with each visit, including reservation management, staffing, safety oversight, and maintaining availability for pass holders. While the pass provides unlimited visits throughout the year, bookings are still required so we can manage capacity and ensure a great experience for all guests.

We're also sorry to hear that you've experienced difficulties booking online and have had to make reservations by phone. That's certainly not the experience we'd want for our pass holders, and we appreciate how frustrating and time-consuming that must have been.

We genuinely value your support and your feedback regarding both the booking fee and booking process. These have been noted and will be shared with the relevant teams for review.

Thank you again for your honesty, and we hope you've made some great memories with us along the way.
