Scammers!! STEAL MONEY!!
I wish I could give this company no stars. They have stole over $700 US dollars from my husband and just tried to take another $300 after he already cancelled and hasn't even been using the sim. They are scammers!!! Absolute criminals!! STAY AWAY!! They will steal your money!! Someone will become very rich one day when they decide to sue them!!
What a rubbish company - truly appalling
I have made over 30 calls to the company to change my plan WITHOUT ANY RESPONSE WHATSOVER. I have had no service for 5 days now
>> Voicemails and emails get no response when they promise to reply within 24 hours.
>> Their Website does not do anything that the company claims it does
>> The Website data is not up to date
>> The max plan is 10gb - totally inadequate
>> Their charges for exceeding your limit (when they let you) are just robbery
I HAVE HAD THE MISFORTUNE TO DEAL WITH SOME DISREPUTABLE COMPANIES BUT I HAVE TO RATE GLOBALGIG AS ONE OF THE WORST, IF NOT THE WORST!
****** BEWARE!! ******* YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED
Not Good, not bad, just didn't work in Switzerland
My 3G European data card set up easily and worked in London before I left for one week in Zurich. In Switzerland it fired up Swisscom 3G but access to data was denied, 'not registered for data' was the helpful message. Contact with Globalgig customer service was flakey and t hey said Swisscom was at fault and they would contact them and get back, (after the weekend) Four days out of seven so I never found out if the problem could be resolved, I bought a local card. I didn't bother to ask for a refund.
Over Usage costs are disgusting!
I have been with Globalgig for a few years now, i have never gone over my usage allowance, but this month i have for the first time, my limit of over usage is set at £50 when it goes over that the temporarily suspend my account...they sent emails to inform me of this, with a heading 'TEST' which in its self looks dodgy so i didn't open them, but not only that they let my account run upto £74.04 before suspending it, so now i'm left with a normal monthly bill of £14.95 plus an over charge of £74.04, and there is no way they're going to budge on this one, absolutely disgusted !
Long-term user
I have been using Globalgig for about 4 years, initially with a US 1Gb 40-country plan ($30), and more recently with a UK 1Gb 70-country plan (£23.99). Until now I have not considered using a review site.
For the most part, I have had good value for money.
Unfortunately I currently have no service, and this has been going on for 10 days.
I have had numerous contacts with Customer Care, who are mostly helpful and reply or call back promptly - unfortunately the problem is still not resolved.
I have two previous billing issues that are still not resolved, and had difficulty with setup at the start of both contracts.
Globalgig was a trading name of Voiamo. It is now the trading name of a new company iGem.
I am really disappointed with the long-term level of support, and am just 'one star' away from leaving...
What a rip off!
Bought this because it could also be used abroad. Paid also £1/month so that it would be available should I need it. Tried to check my account but the link does not work. I tried ringing them many times but got frustrated. Then the deducted £120 for which they never explained so I cancelled. My advice it that you do not use this company as it is a total RIP OFF company. I wish I had read these reviews before I ever got involved with this TOTAL RIP OFF OUTFIT.
Avoid Globalgig
Sounds good on paper, but in the end turned out to be a complete rip off. Sales and support personnel are in conflict, not very knowledgeable. Avoid this scammer!
The Worlds most Expensive Mobile Broadband
Hi, I bought a Global Gig SIM from PC World in Cardiff. The Guy advised me that it works anywhere. It was prepaid and I can activate it online before I travel.
I activated the SIM as advised and I flew to Amsterdam that weekend. I used the SIM for about 15 minutes whilst waiting for a plane. According to
their records I used 4 MB.
I had a shocking Bill, I contacted support and they said:
"You never registered properly"
I never used it again as I find the service untrustworthy, unreliable and they are not providing the Service which was described when I bough the SIM.
One month later they took another £ 10.59 from my Account without my permission.
It seems the pre-paid SIM is actually a Monthly amount without my consent or permission.
When I asked for a Refund, I was advised the Manager would contact me.
"Unfortunately I will have to escalate this issue to my manager and she should reply to you Monday as she is not available on the weekends."
No response, 9 days later from Know How Mobile Broadband/ Global Gig or whatever you call yourselves.
I bought a SIM with three.co.uk, I have used it in Italy and Spain and it works just like they said it would.
I can log in and check my consumption and top up easily.
Know How does not offer this facility... Just scam's and online promises
Avoid Knowhow, Global Gig as Internet at £ 10,000 per GB or £ 160 per hour, or £ 10 per MB Internet based on my consumption is ridiculous...
They should rename themselves as "KNOW HOW TO RIP OFF CLIENTS..."
Rubbish. Service didn't work and the support people could not solve my problem
I purchased the 2GB GlobabGig data nano sim (40GPB) for a cycling trip in France through a reseller called dataroam.co.uk. The morning of my crossing into France I called GlobalGig's support line because the activation service on their website said there was a problem when I tried to activate the sim. I called their 24h support line at 7am UK time. I was connected to the Australian support team where I was curtly informed that they couldn't help me because I needed to talk to the UK support team. After expressing surprise that they couldn't help me on their 24h support line I was told that "people have to sleep." I was further informed that I should have thought about activating my sim earlier. Essentially it was my fault. I wish I had taken the operator's name because she was very rude.
I waited and called the UK line. I was told the error message wasn't important and everything should be OK when I arrived in France. It didn't work when I got to France. I called their support line 5 times over the next 3 days and each time they promised faithfully to call me back. They never did. The only call I got from them was on the 4th and final day of my trip when I was on the Eurostar traveling back to England. It went to voicemail. Each time I called I was told the problem was with Three and they were waiting to hear back from them.
When I got back to the UK I called and asked for a refund. I was told I had to talk to the reseller dataroam.co.uk but that GlobalGig would confirm my troubles when DataRoam called them and the refund process would be seamless. I called DataRoam and they were helpful but I'm still waiting for my refund because GlobalGig are not responding to DataRoam's requests.
All in all a very frustrating experience. Don't waste your money. If there are problems they clearly have zero priority with Three.
