My Experience

We came across getGekko a couple of weeks ago while looking for software for our new companies in the Netherlands. Running IT business ourselves, we thought it's fantastic what they're building.

We emailed getGekko asking if they're supporting Revolut business accounts and got a rapid response from a customer support guy, who told us they support it. So we paid for a premium membership, and this is where all our disappointments started.

We couldn't find Revolut on the list, so we emailed again. Again, we got a speedy response saying it's actually under Belgium countries, and it's in Beta, but we would be able to connect it.

Following their instructions, we found it and tried to connect, but it failed. We tried again and again but to no success. We even downloaded their mobile app and tried to connect through the app.

As we went along, we discovered more issues with their software and kept submitting errors to them. It turns out the bank connections problems were not on Revolut's side. The Revolut app was showing that we connected. The problem was on getGekko side. So after two days and discovering more issues with their software, we gave up. Their customer support agent didn't give us any estimation time when they would fix all the problems we found, nor did he offer any solutions.

We then dared to ask for a refund and close our account, but he just disappeared and stopped replying for days. Finally, after we sent them three emails to their support email address and several days of silence, the agent replied, and this is what he said:

"Sorry for not responding any time sooner, I do not work on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Unfortunately, we do not refund a first active payment of Gekko Premium. By law we are not required to issue a refund, because this is a business transaction and not a consumer transaction."

So, it's a premium business service that doesn't work Tuesday or Wednesday and refuses to issue refunds when the product does not work because they are not required to by law.

As I mentioned above, we work in IT, and after looking at their software, we can tell a lot about it. First, we can't believe that it has taken eight years to build what they have right now. Although, if they only work three days a week, it might explain a lot. It feels like the software is not adequately tested. For example, the simple button that you use to add your Invoice to Costs didn't work. Secondary, we found it extremely strange that they decided to ruin their reputation for €140. How cheap do you have to be? They didn't try to find any solution, didn't offer to move our subscription date to the later when they fix issues, nothing. So we may be stuck now with useless software that we don't trust with our companies' financial information, but getGekko ended up with bad reviews from us. And we all know that the internet remembers everything.

It is sad to read your experience with Gekko. We always do our best to respond promptly. Most of our 125k+ users are very happy with Gekko and our customer service. I am sorry your experience is so different.

We have tried to explain that the Revolut connection is in beta and I quote we wrote to you "These connections are still in beta, which means they are safe to use but can experience some issues sometimes." There is a reason the connection is still in Beta. All the Dutch banks work really well, others less so.

Gekko consists of a small team trying to make the best product for small entrepreneurs. We wish you all the best and hope you find a solution that does work for you.

Great for freelancers!

It's easy and intuitive, it gives me all I need, can do most of my accounting in no time. Invoicing and time tracking saves me a lot of time. And getting payments or track my expenses it is easy.

All I need as a freelancer!

I really like Gekko because it provides a powerful system but also a quite simple one to understand, unlike some others where I get overwhelmed by options. Keep it up guys!

SImple and easy

Really happy with it. Saves me a lot of time managing clients and projects and the invoice templates are really eye-candy! Also superb customer support.
