If you are looking for a horrible shopping experience...

Ordered several items during one of their sales and it took them weeks to actually ship the items. Items were not shipped as described and several items were missing from the purchase. Upon contacting them via email it took over a week to respond and almost another week for them to refund with zero apologies. I would not recommend.

Great content, awful website

The content is good, the quality of the video and audio are also very good. The website itself is a hot dumpster fire and feels like someone with half a diploma in website design put it together. The video overlay almost never works to go to next episode or skip forward, and doesn't go away on it's own in full-screen mode (I had to download a third party extension just so I could push 'Z' to make it go away when viewing content). I constantly get logged out for no reason, it never defaults to 1080p and always plays at the lowest quality EVEN THOUGH I went into my account settings and set the default to the highest quality, and it always changes the default language to English EVEN THOUGH I set the default language to Japanese.
To top it all off, I have a paid subscription to use a website that works half as well as a site I could stream anime illegally on. If I didn't have a conscience and want to watch anime in HD, I would jump to a bootleg streaming service in a heartbeat.
Funimation, please take notes from Crunchyroll please, and learn how to make a seamless website that lives up to the content that you provide.

Utterly Atrocious Advertisement Methods Default This To One Star

This is a horrible website/app. Utterly atrocious and exploitive in it's measures of using ads. I will be watching an anime after spending 5 minutes to clear out every single ad on ONE SINGLE VIDEO, only for the anime to "crash" with a "playback error"... EVEN THOUGH YOU CAN STILL SEE IT PLAYING JUST FINE IN THE BACKGROUND. It forces you to then quit out and watch all the ads again for the same video. This is a horrible and downright disgusting website. They may have good video quality, but that doesn't even come close to making up for the scummy measures they take to get as much ad revenue as they can.

I literally hate the products they show on their ads now. They show the same ad for 5-10 minutes straight, and do that for every other or back to back episodes. I now won't be ordering from Domino's for a long time, never will buy Harry's Razer's products, and will most certainly avoid anything else they show like that. How can advertisers even be okay with their methods? This is almost a guaranteed way to make people hate your product for no reason other than a greedy company using your advertisement to be spammed on their website for other's to be tortured to. It just doesn't make any sense to me.

Content would be great if you could…

Content would be great if you could actually a. Get it to load at all b. Not get stuck in an endless buffer or c. Not have the damn app crash immediately. I have fiber optic Internet and never had issues with any other service. Crunchy roll , Netflix, Hulu and Amazon work perfectly. They just updated their UI only having the same ongoing issues. Avoid them if you can.

Trash

Trash. Absolute garbage. Even paid for this website is garbage. I can't watch the next episode without going back to the season page and manually selecting the next episode. It's a streaming service in 2021 that can't just autoplay the next episode. On top of that I need to reset the audio and subtitles settings each episode I watch.

If the show you want to watch is available literally anywhere else, Watch it there.

No. Just no. Honestly, every anime starts out free, but then of course after a few episodes it turns into premium. I don't like this, it's basically saying "Ok here start the anime, and now you have to pay for it!" I get it, Funimation wants to get money, but shoving 'get premium so you could watch the rest of this anime' in someones face is just painful and a bit too much. Then of course it's also the way you reset your password. The email takes more than 15, and normally it doesn't work. I'm sticking with other apps and I honestly regret trying to use Funimation. I don't recommend the app.

Poor video Quality

Ads every 5 seconds, some animes only have clips and extras instead of the actual videos, sometimes the anime i actually am watching just stops and i have to skip 5-10 minutes, if it lets me watch past that point at all. Not sure if this is just a personal issue, but it has dub, so it works.

Broken, Laggy and Unresponsive

The streaming service is just about broken. Not only are the ads extremely long on the free version, but sometimes it will play the same ad 4-5 times in a row. When the ads are over, the service takes 30-60 seconds to load the next segment. So not only are the ads long, but then you just sit and wait on an empty screen for it to load. The streaming site is buggy and laggy on ps4. I wouldn't recommend it.

I order a Figure the last one after i…

I order a Figure from them and its last one I'll order from them. The figure I order was in stock, got my package and it wasn't the figure I order I got an All Might! I didn't order a All Might. Went to look at the figure I wanted at the shop and It was sold out!! Talked to customer service and didn't resolve anything!! they send me something i didn't order!!! something different!

I'm a bit surprised at the negative reviews

I've been using Funimation for a little while now, and I've had no issues. I'm watching on my TV using the Roku app and things have run smoothly. I've seen a few complaints about not liking their shows, but that is subjective and people can actually browse the titles before signing up. They are not a one stop shop for anime as some other companies may have exclusive license agreements on some shows. Again, my experience has been generally positive. No real problems to speak of. They offer a free trial, so if it doesn't live up to your expectations, cancel before the trial is over.

Content creators deserver better than this unstable mess, Funimation, on so many levels

Great content, with a grotesquely incompetent webapp.
- After watching a vid, the auto-play UI overlay reports in a few seconds the next video will play: NOPE
-- there's a count down, then nothing happens
-- there are media control buttons, which do nothing!
-- there's a SYSTEM to keep track of the last video seen, which ALWAYS LAGS BEHIND!
- Then, today after watching nearly an entire series this GARBAGE SERVICE BURPS UP,

SONY just SUCKS at IT.

The GARBAGE web app that is Funimation has been incompetent for a LONG TIME.

What an embarrassing platform, extracting the talents of people who work far too hard to participate in a an effort they loved when they were young, only to lazily PRESENT this GARBAGE artifice as the platform, when (you didn't need to be creative, just competent) you couldn't even meet basic business objectives in a creative industry... and still are paid MORE than those who made your job possible.

Overcharged and wont refund

had funimation for 9 months before I noticed on my bank statement that funimation was charging me $5.99 extra to my funimation plus every month. I contacted customer support about this and Im getting ignored now and they feel no need to resolve this issue. its criminal

It would be 5 stars. If the when I clicked next episode it change the episode. If when I clocked to listen in English it didn't randomly switch to Japanese halfway through. If when I clicked pause it didn't take 7 tries. Honestly fix it.

just buggy and broken, doesn't remember language or quality or version you set. Playing next episode is broken, both autoplay and the button. Honestly torrenting is a better experience than this. Also glitched out and gave me spoliers from multiple episodes, by randomly skipping ahead this is on desktop and by casting.

If I could give 0 stars I would. As a pretty big company, they have all capabilities to issue a refund at the time I cancel my subscription When the money was taken out the same day I cancelled. The customer service agent just copied and pasted the terms and said this is their limitation. I understand if I cancel mid month, past 7 days is understandable as well but I was trying to get a refund of the month subscription they took the DAY they charged me. I have not used their services since I asked for a refund (the day I cancelled my subscription) and they can see my activity. Worst experience.
to all future customers of funimation, make sure you use a credit card that they cannot charge because once they charge it, you are not getting that money back.

Bad app, terrible support

Customer support was went from being useless (doesn't look like they can even read) to not responding for over two weeks. They then came back with completely wrong information which their own website contradicts.

So that was a waste of time.

The app is amazingly slow and riddled with bugs which don't let you even browse their paltry selection of anime.

Language options aren't great.
Subs are very hit and miss, it can't handle multiple speakers at all.
Some episodes are unwatchable as they are minutes out of sync.

Trying to watch anime as they come out doesn't always work and when it does it is never in HD.

Funimation is the worst streaming…

Funimation is the worst streaming service I've ever encountered. It is filled to the brim with bugs. Want to full screen? Next button won't take you to the next page nor will auto play work. Want to go to the next episode? hit the button twice and you skip the next episode. Remember the full screen bug? ya those stack. Poor UI decisions make changing the volume difficult without accidentally muting audio first. When picking a show if you accidentally hit the barely shown show the left and right page arrows cover then you don't get another page you get the show. Also I hope you can tell a show by half its cover art because if its behind the page buttons thats all you're getting half the time.

Beyond the garbage streaming service I went here for dubs which they seem to be phasing out. The recent UI changes even make it difficult to tell which episodes have dubs and which do not. You have to manually select episodes now to check. Also the available languages at the bottom can't be trusted so you'll want to ignore that and check the settings on the specific episode. Its almost like Funimation is getting worse not better :/
