Terrible delivery length and zero communication

I preordered the dancing groot figure for my mothers Christmas present. Was told it'd be dispatched on the 29th of dec. It came today 29th of January. No communication about the delay, no communication about when the money would be taken.

Will not be using this shambles of a company again!

HOPES AND DREAMS SHATTERED

My youngest son is very much a huge Godzilla fan, and wanted the 12" figure with the electronic roar.... I work away from home a month at a time and cant get access to the internet.... Unfortunately i got held away longer than normal, and just got back before xmas...

When i got back i tried to look for the present my 9 year old was wanting, but could not get it in time...
After xmas, we talked and he was happy to look for it in the New Year and maybe get it then...
Like many others on here , when i looked on the website ,it was "IN STOCK" and at a very good price.

My son was so excited when we ordered it together.... The other presents i knew were not going to be a patch on this when it arrived...

I did explain with the time of year ( ordered on Jan 01st ) it could be delayed and not to expect it before 10 days...which i thought would be more than enough time....

Every day...and i MEAN every day.... the little hopeful face would ask if there had been anything delivered....and every day i had to watch the disappointment on his face as i said ...Nothing today....but should be soon..

So... I gave it 14 days......... Still no delivery and my order still at ' Processing' on the website.... I then decided to give them a call...(The only contact from Forbidden Planet was about new deals...nothing about my order)

Spoke to a nice enough guy on the other end who looked into it after i explained......

The reply was ....

" WE ARE EXPECTING A DELIVERY THIS AFTERNOON AND SHOULD GET IT OUT TO YOU BY 48HR COURIER"

Yes.... alarm bells did ring .... Was it just pure luck that everything happened just as i was calling.......Maybe i should have called a week before....

The next day i received an email to say that there was a delay on this stock coming in and they would keep me informed.....

As an adult, you can kind of grin and bear it, but as a little boy it is very difficult to understand why these retailers don't send out things that are bought from a supposed in stock status..

I could have got this item from the US at the same time i ordered from FP, but thought since it was in the UK already, it would be quicker with less problems than the US.

I have now had to tell my son he cant get it, as i cannot find it anywhere else now...

Not once did i receive an email to say about any delays on the item, or the item went out of stock just as i placed my order....

This is a disgusting service based on mis-leading the customer with false information to get customers to order and hope they receive stock in...
I understand this is a common tactic among retailers, but most decent retailers inform there customers about any change in circumstance within a few days of the order being made...

As a Father I will not use this site again as i have no confidence in any of the info and have no intention of watching such disappointment on my sons face again.....

Rubbish

Placed an order for an item that was in stock on 14th Dec, didn't get dispatched until 22nd, still waiting for it today (15/01/2015). Sent two e-mails through their website, one last week and one on monday of this week. Haven't heard anything back yet, absolutely garbage service.

Terrible Terrible Terrible Service

Very disappointed with FP - I am still waiting delivery from items that were ordered on the 10th December - it is now nearly a month :( I have contacted them via Email, phone, FB and Twitter to no avail. Utter rubbish - they don't deserve your money.

Very bad dispatch

If you order an item that is in stock on December 9th, it is not unreasonable to expect it to arrive before Christmas. Especially as the website says orders made before 14th December will arrive before Christmas. This is a blatant lie and the excuse "we are exceptionally busy" does not wash because you have plenty of time to prepare and employ Christmas temps, give staff overtime etc and guess what? Christmas next year will fall on December 25th.
Anyone who is thinking of using them please order before August and you might be okay. I am very disappointed and stressed as I don't have anything to give on Christmas day.
I will never use Forbidden Planet ever again and will make sure everyone knows about my appalling experience, if you choose to use it despite my warning, good luck to you.

Communication good and item arrived in time!

I thought I should write a review as I had read lots of negative reviews of Forbidden Planet. I needed Minecraft Lego as a Christmas present, everywhere had sold out!! and my sister was trusting me to get this present for her son. So after trawling the net I found Forbidden Planet had sets in stock, I ordered on 11th Dec, it was posted on the 15th and arrived today (18th) in plenty of time for Christmas. I know many people have negative stories but I have to say my experience has been good. I did also email them to check if I would get the item before Christmas and they responded to my email the next day, which turned out to be the day they sent the parcel. I would definitely buy from them again.

Slow delivery and no communication.

VERY VERY slow delivery. I pre-ordered a comic from them and it took over 10 working days to reach me. The ONLY reason used them was because I coulndt pre-order it anywhere else. It was nothing special or rare.

In a nutshell, if you are happy to wait, then go for it. Otherwise, go somewhere else.

Oh, and they don't respond to emails and getting hold of them on the phone is a nightmare.

Product did arrive safe and sound and in mint condition.

Be warned slowest company I've ever come across.

Ordered 1 t shirt 2nd December, a week later it still hasn't been dispatched so emailed the company, they took 2 days to reply and claimed the item was coming in stock the next day (which there was no indication it was even out of stock on the website or else I wouldn't of ordered it) 2 days later still no change in the status. I order a lot from the net and this is the slowest company I've come across, now I'm forced to cancel the order and buy from another company in hope it will arrive before Christmas.

absolutely rubbish, no communication and takes for ages for postage

ordered 2 t shirts both in stock on 21st of november

Package came 9 days later with only 1 t shirt!

the other t shirt then said was pre order only and would arrive on 28th of november, that day came and went and eventually after many emails they said they had no idea when more stock would be available

there was no communication at all except after i complained on facebook for them to get a reply to my emails, if i hadn't of done that i would of got nothing to say where the t shirt was.

i will not be buying anything from them again

Abysmal!

Cannot fault the product bought; absolutely perfect, but service terrible. It was two months overdue, and was expected with great excitement.

We received no notifications of delay, despite the company debiting our credit card. I had to make free phone calls just to find out what was happening, and when I spoke to the staff they were very offhand and unhelpful.

IN A NUTSHELL: Excellent product, awful service.

Excellent

Was hesitant to order online after seeing all the horror stories but decided I had no other way of getting a figurine my partner wanted at such a great price, within three days of ordering it was shipped, I was told to wait 5-7 days for delivery and was pleasantly surprised when it arrived two days after it had been shipped :) will definitely be buying again :)

Total rubbish

I bought a few things on there a while ago now, and it still has no status. When I then tried to contact them through email, they wouldn't answer. Haven't heard anything at all!

As I said, total rubbish.. Go buy somewhere else where they have better customer service and actually answer you!

Don't be alarmed, they deliver

As I ordered a couple of shirts at Forbiddenplanet, I decided to check the reviews on the internet. And as I read those reviews, I hoped I had never ordered anything from them.
But; 9 days after hitting the 'Purchase' button, I received my t-shirts. I live in the Netherlands, so for me this is acceptable.

Concluding; the right products, the right size and delivery within a reasonable amount of time. Here's for a good review amidst the bad ones.

avoid for comics

I ordered comics over a week ago having moved outside London, comics that had only been released the day before. I was invoiced on the day and was told when I phoned up that they had been dispatched 4 days later, which I find unacceptable. Three days later the comics still have not arrived in the post. I will be visiting the regular independent store I found in London as the postage service for this company seems quite useless.

Terrible, wish I had read reviews before ordering.

I ordered several items in
November, I am still waiting for one item in July!
The stock date keeps changing. Totally ridiculous!
I have emailed asking for compensation but I am not holing my breath for it.
It is shocking there is so little communication with customers. I won't be shopping there again.

4 months later and still no item, none of the staff have told me anything helpful

I wish I had read some customer reviews before I purchased from Forbidden Planet. I have never had a problem when shopping in-store and they have so many unique, excellent products that I didn't think twice about ordering some late Christmas gifts online. To be fair, the first part of my order was fulfilled and arrived quickly, it's the other item that I'm having to wait such a ridiculous amount of time for. I ordered an item that must have been out of stock, although I wasn't informed of this when I bought it online, I only found out that the order was going to be part fulfilled when I read the confirmation email. I could understand that they must have sold out over Christmas so I didn't mind. I only contacted the company about a month later, which I felt was adequate time to replenish the item and dispatch it. When someone finally got back to me about the situation, they apologised but didn't provide me with information such as if they are even getting new stock and when it would arrive etc. I've pretty much forgotten about the item as it's been so long. Irritatingly it feels like every time I ask what's happened to my order, I'm going to be met with the same vague response. Judging by the reviews, a lot of people have been in a similar situation, and no one seems to be in a hurry to fulfill these backlogs of orders.

The Customer Is Always A Right Nuisance!

I have had quite a few dealings with Forbidden Planet over the years and I've never found them a particularly satisfactory company to deal with, especially when things go wrong. Unfortunately, as a Doctor Who fan, they're often the only game in town as they produce a lot of exclusive figures and figure sets. Which means that not dealing with them isn't a viable option for a collector. The problem is that for a company which deals with collectable items (and the admittedly somewhat particular people who buy them, like myself) they don't seem to be greatly concerned with keeping their customers happy. Doctor Who items come in collectable packaging which are an integral part of the collectable nature of the item, yet they regularly arrive bashed or scuffed or with other annoying (and avoidable) defects. It's not a question of the postal packaging being inadequate as - in my experience - Forbidden Planet send out their products in a good, sturdy boxes.. So, the damage isn't being done by their couriers; they're simply sending out items which have had rough handling during the storage and packaging process. Given that their items aren't cheap (you pay a premium for exclusivity), it's annoying that getting an item in mint condition seems to be such a matter of pot luck. And when you complain, Forbidden Planet seem uninterested in finding a satisfactory resolution to the problem.. In a recent email I was told that their products were mass produced abroad, so what could I expect and that if I wanted them to arrive undamaged, maybe I should try going to one of their stores and seeing if I had better luck there. This, by the way, is not always a practical option for me as their nearest store is quite some distance away. Plus I don't see why I should expect to receive a poorer service from their online store when the prices aren't any cheaper and postage has to be factored in. The whole tone of the message suggested that I was a fusspot with unreasonable expectations. Like it or lump it! is not the attitude I expect to receive from a company with whom I've spent several thousand pounds over the years.

If you can wait a million years it aint so bad

I have bought products from Forbidden Planet a few times and each time I have had to wait 2-4 months for each. On their website there is absolutely no declaration that the order is not in stock, is a pre-order and won't be available for the next 100 years. I do want to at least compliment them for sending me an e-mail update about my order now and then, even if I had to contact them the first time I was wondering what happened to my order. On top of that, their payment system is screwed up. It says you're only paying a ridiculous small amount for the order, but nonetheless you end up paying the right amount. So that's confusing.. if not stupid, but at least it works. I tried to contact their technical department ages ago, but never received as much as a wink back. I kinda doubt they even have a technical department.

They should seriously consider whipping their supplier with a morning star or really consider changing to someone else. Every time they deliver an estimate that estimate gets pushed further and further out into the future because of some delay from their supplier. So despite being a great shop with great products they need to fix their issues with their supplier and with their online payment system. If they even cared for these reviews, that would probably be a good way to start as well. I'm just wondering if there's an owner out there who has no idea or control over what goes on in their shop. Don't be afraid to shop there though, customer service does reply. If you can live with your order arriving months later (because the products are so awesome), you won't have much trouble either.
