Pressured into paying, weeks of wasted work, zero delivery
Flippa contacted me and pushed their broker package aggressively. I wasn’t even planning to sell my business at the time, but I was persuaded to pay around $899 for “brokered” service and a valuation.
From that point on, the experience was a complete time sink. I spent weeks preparing documents, financials, explanations, and revisions. There was endless back-and-forth, more requests, more changes, more hoops to jump through. I did everything that was asked of me, but yes I did get frustrated as I was asked to double document things. All the sales numbers were already linked in Shopify, but to even get an evaluation I needed to document them again. And being a frustrated customer is obviously enough for Flippa to not give you the service you pay for ..
After all of that, I still did not receive a proper valuation which is literally the core service I paid for.
Instead, I was eventually told the listing should be moved to self-service, because the broker apparently meant that my business now evaluated under 100 k( I don’t still don’t know how much he thinks it’s worth because I still have not gotten a brokers valuation 5 months later) But with the same numbers as it was over 100 k at the initial “listing” or let’s call it what it is - sales pitch for Flippa was not worth selling for him, meaning I would basically have to do the work myself anyway. If that was the outcome, I could have listed months earlier and saved both a huge amount of time and the $899 fee.
So let’s summarize: aggressive sales pitch up front, weeks of unpaid labor from the customer, no valuation delivered, and then an attempt to downgrade me to self-service. I also asked for a refund. That is still unresolved.
This feels like a classic bait-and-switch: sell the expensive package first, extract as much work as possible, and then walk away from delivering what was actually sold.
Strong warning to others: if you buy the broker package and things don’t go perfectly, you may end up with no sale, no valuation, and hundreds of dollars gone ,plus weeks of your time wasted. That’s exactly what happened to me.

I worked with Lawrence from Flippa - he was professional and experienced. The whole process took about 6 months, but not without some hiccups, not to the fault of Flippa, but generally the nature of such transactions. Despite the unforeseen circumstances, Lawrence remained professional and dutiful in following up with potential buyers, till an eventual sale of the business. He also provided sound advice through the negotiation process, and i leaned heavily on his experience. Overall, 5 stars for professionalism and expertise.
