Today I contacted the Chat of Fewo Direct and was routed to VRBO. Whilst they could help me with a fault in their system (I could not confirm a booking) by confirming the booking on my behalf, they did not give any support on the really important issues.
I wanted to have a ticket number (standard for internal technical cases) and an email address to whom I could write to make sure I can hear what the actual problem was. No avail.
I then asked politely to get the possibility to get an OTP by email rahte than SMS as I am traveling frequently internationally and cannot receive SMS everywhere. In addition, I currently do not have access to my mobile number.
Once this happens you cannot log in, cannot confirm bookings or write to potential guests and possibly lose a customer. In addition, Fewo Direkt will downgrade your listing if you do not respond to guests within a cetain timeframe.
Again, no avail other than a general 'we are sorry and will look into this'. Again, no ticket number, no email address.
This is extremely poor showing for a company which charges very high fees for a very dismal service.
By European law they are required to provide easy contact options which they don't. A chat person who does not escalate a serious issue is not a contact option.
Funnily, and to end this long contribution, I also received a request from another potential guest on Fewo Direkt today who was looking to book outside the portal, to avoid the exorbitant fees which I declined. God punishes small sins immediately

I am writing this to warn other travelers about a fraudulent listing on FeWo-direkt (Vrbo) for a property in Todtnau, Germany (Object #5681240).
I received a booking confirmation that appears to be official, using FeWo-direkt branding and a Reservation ID . However, after cross-checking with other platforms, I discovered that the legitimate owner of this property lists exclusively on Airbnb and has no connection to FeWo-direkt.
The fraudulent "host" (using the name Patrick Jupp and an @outlook.de email) provided a professional-looking PDF confirmation, but the booking does not appear in the official "My Trips" section of the website. This suggests a major security gap where either fraudulent listings are not being properly vetted or the platform's layout is being easily spoofed to deceive customers into making external payments.
I have already contacted my bank to initiate a fraud report and a payment recall. I expect FeWo-direkt to take responsibility for allowing their branding to be used in such scams and to improve their verification protocols for new listings.
Stay away from any host that asks for communication or payment details outside the official platform's secure checkout.

My booking was officially confirmed, and a few hours before the day of arrival, it was cancelled via mail. I was depending on that booking, and got into serious trouble. This is illegal what they are doing. Stay away!!!

These people are idiots. We were so excited to go on ski vacation until we found out the 8000 euro house we booked was a scam and didnt exist. These absolute dumbasses wouldnt give us a refund. Please dont book from them

I first registered on the FeWo website, but already during the registration process I encountered several technical problems. The form was incomplete — there was no field to enter the house number — and the website repeatedly prompted me to install their app. However, the link to the app didn’t even work and always led to an error message.
After registration and booking my first apartment, I agreed with the property owner to pay an additional amount for the booking, since I wanted to travel with a pet. When I went back to the website to make this payment, I ran into even more serious technical issues. Although I had already stored my credit card details, all credit card fields appeared empty. When I re-entered my credit card details, the system showed a persistent error message saying the card number had “not enough digits,” even though it was entered correctly. As a result, I couldn’t complete the payment at all.
I then tried to contact FeWo, but there was no visible e-mail address or contact form on their website — although that is legally required under Article 5(1)(c) of the EU E-Commerce Directive (2000/31/EC), which obliges online service providers to make their contact details easily, directly, and permanently accessible (for example, to report fraud or other serious issues such as payment problems like mine). I had no other choice than to search online for a contact option and eventually found one via their parent company, VRBO. Unfortunately, the reply I received only said that “everything is fine” and “everything is registered correctly,” completely ignoring the technical issues I had reported and without forwarding my message to the right department.
Overall, it feels as if I’ve been acting as a free website and compliance tester for their platform but they even ignored my reported issues!
Very disappointing experience — I wish I had read all the negative reviews before booking. I would never have booked here otherwise.

We booked nearly a year before a convention a room with fewo direkt. Less than 1 month before we got cancelled for a switch of the owner. As private message came "no water there actually". The refund was about 80 euros less than we paid, because why ever, they got paid in us dollars and the exchange is now bad.
The customer support is likely non existent. You can write with some indian guys, who won't help you. It's better to take the learning and never ever book again with them or with their partner expedia.
We have to pay more the twice of the price for a room now. Never ever would i recommend to book with them. NEVER
We had chosen a place through this company to stay in Essen for 2 nights. On arrival, a random person walked into the apartment ahead of us to take something that supposedly was hers. There was less than a quarter roll of toilet paper in the place. The bath tub had not been cleaned and I had to clean it myself. There were dirty dishes in the dishwasher. On the phone I was promised a cleaning fee refund which was never issued. When we contacted VRBO, which is where we found the property, the renter denied everything. I would never recommend any property through this company. Simply awful!!

I wanted to go to Sylt with my daughter to celebrate a dear friend's birthday in August. I have ended up having to book in 3 different places because my booking has been cancelled twice: once in March and once in June. In March, it was because of a 'divorce situation' and in June it was a 'double-booking because of a system failure'. Either way, I was not offered any help with finding replacement accommodation. Sylt gets booked up very quickly, so each time I had to re-book, the choice was more limited and more expensive. As we had already booked our flights from the UK, and we are attending an organised event, we had no flexibility about dates. This is just not good enough and I will not be using FeWo-direkt again. I have now booked a hotel with booking.com.

we booked from Germany a vacation in Italy and paid with credit cards. They were charged and Fewo-Direkt confirmed the booking. So far so good. When we waited for boarding our plane, the landlord in Italy informed us, that Fewo resp. the sub-company Vrbo, cancelled the booking, because there money wasn't paid. The landlord told us not to come, he will definitely not host us. All our efforts clearing the situation with Fewo-Direkt, Verb and the landlord were useless. We had to search and pay another vacation.
Fewo doesn't want give the money back. They told us, it's not their problem and we have to go the landlord. The landlord refuses any contact. We had to launch a cost intensive criminal complaint to get our money back.
Got my booking cancelled after getting a notification that it’s valid. Now they asked me for a review, I made the review - of course badly as the apartment canceled my booking, and the site tells me the review won’t pass their requirements. Meaning they prevent me from making issues about a certain apartment public.. there are better sites to book apartments

I never booked through them, I know better, I’d never book through a company that seems super shady anyhow.
But I met someone yesterday who did and suffered the consequences.
This Scottish man was stressfully searching for the appartment he had booked through this awful conpany, I tried to help him, still remember the address, Alte Postraße 12, 53840, Troisdorf, that’s the address of the apartment or place he was looking for, but in vain, there was no one, no one answered the bell, the man messaged them and all they said through private message was ‘then you’re at the wrong address’ not much of help is it?
I tried calling their hotline last night, which is open for 24h they said but in vain, from two phones! One went through and said the waiting queue was of two minutes, the call went on for about 20 minutes without an answer.
Please people, stay away from this crap. For that price you can get much better with Edreams or Booking.com!
I have quite different experiences with them. But both with the happy end.
Let me start with the positive - one of my bookings is a great deal. The photos are a perfect match with the reality, the owners are super friendly and all is good. But the price is about normal for that destination, it is not cheap. Also important is that the apartment already has quite a lot of positive reviews.
The second one is a scam - I have understood this 2 hours after my booking. The price is unreal cheap. The property is free for almost all days. The owner is new and the apartment has no reviews. Photos have been stolen from another real apartment in Amsterdam. The address is incorrect. The host's reply looks too short and has grammar errors. I have found and contacted the real property. They have no idea about my booking. Then I spent 2 days with fewo-direkt.de support and lucky me, I paid through PayPal. I claimed for refund. I think it was really helpful in the end. A few first attempts only with fewo support - gave me a strange result "We have checked, it is definitely not a scam, you just need to wait for the host's reply". After the PayPal investigation happened in parallel to my communication with the support - I got a new email and finally a full refund. So be careful and double-check before you book and three times check if it is non-refundable.
And be ready to find a replacement in case of problems by yourself. it is not a booking that will take care of a replacement for your accommodation and cover the diff. But you may expect at least to get a refund.

One star is still too generous. My family and I recently booked a property in the UK for 4 nights. We arrived in time to put the our small children to bed but as soon as we entered the property a burning smell of cleaning chemicals made it hard to breathe. The entire house was oversaturated in it. We had to spend the first night there but we had to leave early in the morning because the air was unbearable. The high amount of fumes was a risk to our lungs, our health, the little ones and anyone else that might stay there in the future. We tried to bring this to FeWo’s attention so we could at least get a refund for the unused days and they kept asking if we had photos to document the situation. PHOTOS!!! To document a complaint about hazardous and unbreathable air. After going over the situation with three different customer service reps, they intentionally chose to ignore our reason for the complain and the health risk it poses to any future customer, told us they couldn’t make any kind of refund and didn’t even bother to delete the listing and report it. Basically this means they will do nothing, even if a listing poses a health risk to their customers as long as they get to make more money with it in the future. We’ll be looking to file a legal complaint.

Tragedy.. Before we booked and paid the haus, the owner answered quickly, in some minutes.. After we asked an additional info we wasn't sure from the desceiption (after payment), nobody answered. To avoid a surprise we cancelled the booking in time (last day od 100% money return at 6PM) but they answered next day and offered only 50% return but wrote 4 differente numbers I didn't understand and asked for an explanation.. I didn't accept onl 50% because I cancelled it in time, it's not my fault that owner doesn't react the same day.. No answer since Sunday and I'm afraid the better accomodation we choose after will be gone...
Never more! I regret I didn't read the evaluation before..

They just don't care a bit about their customers.
We tried to contact the host for weeks, no response, no check-in information, NOTHING
We contacted fewo support several times, they didn't help us, just saying it will all be fine.
It was hours after check-in should start and we did not here anything from the host.
Standing around, calling the support for about an hour.
That's not holidays, that's a disaster.
All they care for is to get your money and keep it.
